The best teams in each state are similar. Truth be told, there isn't a whole lot of difference in the elite teams, regardless of where they come from. In summer competition, the Tennessee Travelers and Memphis YOMCA are competitive with the best from other states and big cities. You could take the best teams from Georgia, the Carolinas, Virginia, Arkansas, Kentucky, Alabama, Missouri, and Mississippi and not tell much difference from White Station. The differences, however, come from the depth of talent. For example, the best team from Indiana is probably no better than the best team from Tennessee, but the number of teams playing at that high level definitely varies from state to state. Tennessee can produce two or three national contenders on the summer circuit, while other "basketball" states can produce as many as five or six. That's where the difference is.
