Regular Season Scheduling

Just curious if anyone knows the TSSAA rule on the number of games a team can play in the regular season. Ten years ago I believe the TSSAA allowed 24 dates and tournaments counted against a schedule as 2 dates (I could be remembering incorrectly though). I have noticed that some teams are playing 30+ a season this year and in years past. Are some of these games JV games and are just being listed as a regular season game on the schedule? Just wondering...

They've opened it up for teams to play in multiple tournaments. Looking at Farragut a year ago, they went 47-1 or 48-1...being associated with Rutledge, they played the most games in school history going 28-8-2...that's a lot of games y'all.

I played for Fairview last year and we went 27-8 and only 6 of those game were in the postseason... so we played 29 regular season games.

Lenoir City has 41 games on its regular-season schedule with a possibility that it will become 43 games depending on tournament outcomes.

 

I think that the TSSAA rule is that any tournament counts as 3 games but I could be wrong on the actual number. Point is, you can play any number of tournament games and it only counts against your schedule limit as 3. LC, for example, played 7 games in their recent tournament but only have to count 3 against their schedule limit.
