If a scout thinks he has a legitimate shot of signing one of these players then he may risk a high pick. If he thinks they will be a hard sign or the player just wants to go to college then they probably won't touch them till somewhere around mid draft. Say round 20 or 25.Plenty of high schoolers sign with a college then get drafted so until the first day of fall class a college coach has to hold his breath.

That's not how it works. A player drafted that highly is going to be offered a substantial signing bonus AND an annuity that will provide money for his education after his playing days are done.

A large majority of the high school players who are drafted have already signed baseball letters of intent with a college or university. Some high draft picks use those as a bargaining tool to get more money to sign.

yeah, but some of these players wont settle for less than a certain amount of money which will classify them as "unsignable" and the team wont waste a high pick on someone who is good enough to be drafted there but wont sign, but they wont sign for that amount of money, however, if you tell a scout that you'll sign for basically anything, your stock will rise because they know that they have a good chance at signing you

Gameday, I mean no offense, but you don't really understand how the game works. No high draft pick is unsignable. Money talks, and players use the college letter of intent as leverage to get more money.

Very few players turn down 1-5 round money to go to college when an education annuity is a part of the deal.

no offense towards you either, but you dont know exactly how it works either, you're right about not to many players turning down rounds 1-5 money, but if you take a look at baseball america or somewhere that gives each player and how much they sign for, you'd be surprised how much the money drops off after the first 2 rounds, take a look at it sometime if you have the chance, another thing, the reason they do sign is because the scouts have declared them signable, there are many players throughout the nation that are as good as these top 5 round picks, but they'd rather go to college and get that experience than sign and they tell these scouts this, so they arent going to waste a top pick on someone who's going to college no matter what the money is will they? one last thing, if you look around the SEC, there are a number of players who, coming out of high school, were offered a substantial amount of money, but turned it down to go to college, but once again you are right about not to many turning down that kind of money, its just that many others are good enough players to be drafted there, they'd just rather go to college first
