I really hate individual awards in fastpitch

and yes there are high school coaches out there willing to help a kid get noticed by college coaches.My child had a coach that believed in him and contacted some college coaches.Ladytigersoftball is also correct.Every softball application a school has sent has asked what athletic awards you have received.

deadeye i know you don't live under a rock. at soddy daisy at least a dozencoachshave watch them this year. coach weakly was at a game last week .so some player are seen in high school . I think the awards should be after ths seasn is over.

I like the individual awards...because if you get one it says that you worked for it and had a great season...but my favorite award is the championship trophy...

Deadeye: I disagree with the statement about High school -vs- travel ball. My daughter is at a Div. 1 school right now because of High school. Every tournament Soddy went to there were several coaches looking for rosters. We would even have coaches at our home games. If you play for a successful high school team the college coaches will come.

I absolutely agree about the individual awards - they are a contradiction for a "team" sport. It takes at least nine players and to single out a player (more often than not based on the position they played) undermines the team concept. I've seen alot of outfielders make pitchers look good when a less skilled outfielder would have made the same pitcher look bad. It's about team and I think the players would embrace that the parents and coaches would.
