fbballguru
The Giles County Bobcats are BACK, ladies and gentlemen. Tonight the Bobcats showed the true definition of a bend but dont break defense, 3 different times being backed up inside their own red zone and 3 times forcing a turnover to swing momentum in their favor. DeAngelo Johnson rushed for an absurdly high number of yards including like a 75 yd scamper to the house. The XP was blocked and it was 6-0, Cats. QB Rob Laxson hit WR Carson Edgmon on a wheel route for around a 35 yd TD. (One of the first passing TD's I can remember in GCHS football history.) The 2pt conversion was no good and the score was 12-0, Cats. A few scores from Tullahoma made it 12-10 and with about 4 minutes, DeAngelo plunged into the endzone once more and this time the XP is good. There's your final, 19-10 GCHS! wingman10
Good scrimmage for the Bobcats. Former Coach, Glen Gordon told me the Bobcats could have a very good year. Tullahoma has high hopes for 04, but I think the results will be similar to their record in 03.

fbballguru
Just for the record, GCHS only lost 4 seniors. Not sure how many Tullahoma lost but the chatter on the board here was fairly optimistic about their season.
wingman10
Could be a long year for Tullahoma. Don't see a lot of improvement from 03.
millerj
Could be a long year for Tullahoma. Don't see a lot of improvement from 03. 825303692[/snapback] That thought although premature might be correct. Tullahoma did successfully compete with 3 very powerful 5a teams (Lincoln Co. / Hendersonville / Oakland). Can you truthfully judge a team on a single scrimmage performance? The score of the game was 19-10 overall, but the 1's vs. 1's score was 12-10. The last touchdown that Giles Co. scored was on our 2nd team D. I will give Giles credit that they dominated the offensive and defensive lines and had a great game. Tullahoma was not ready for the scrimmage and it showed, its that simple. Play some real competition......beat somebody that is good......and then you can puff your chest out. Until then, I'll believe it when I see it! millerj
Honestly Bobcat you have one great season reaching the semi-finals and you think you have a football dynasty. Have you checked out that playoff record Greenbrier has 4-12, so maybe you shouldn't puff that chest out just yet. It was just 2 years ago that Greenbrier won its first playoff game in the history of the school. Edited August 15, 2004 by millerj

And you definitely won't see anyone from Greenbrier puffing their chest out when they go through a dry spell and don't make the playoffs three years in a row! Just hard to read all this stuff coming out of Giles Co. when they haven't done anything. You guys sound like politicians who promise all kind of stuff during a campaign before they ever hold the office.......IT IS ALL TALK! I am glad you are fired up, but don't go predicting 7-3 seasons and playoffs when you don't have the recent track record to back it up. If you guys had finished 5-5 last year and finished 5th in the region, I would agree that you have all the reason in the world to talk it up. But, you didn't!!! We have no football dynasty. Greenbrier will never be a Maryville, Hillsboro, or Riverdale. However, we do have a very, very good senior class that most schools have come around every now and then. That aside, even when Greenbrier doesn't have a "very, very good" senior class, they will always be competitive and in competition for a playoff slot. Giles Co. has not been able to say that for many years! BTW, we scrimmaged Westmoreland and Macon Co. Nothing to write home about. But, the last four years, Greenbrier has played David Lipscomb, DCA, White House, Springfield, Beech, and Ft. Campbell as their non-conference opponents. Greenbrier plays one of the toughest 3A schedules in the state year in and year out. Just check the Coach T Schedule Strength!
