Got to agree with Kev on this one. Kent is a great kid and probably the last person on the court that would do something like that intentionally.

I wonder what BlMed thought about the officiating last night? Most Greene Devil fans thought they got hosed, much as BlMed felt when the Canes played Cherokee.

Thought the officiating was decent considering there were only two ref's. It looked for a time as if Greenville would pull one out , but MEast did not buckle. Shumate is a great loss as Pierce was for East. Referring to the Cherokee game...32 foul shots versus 8 is fairly unusual, favoring Cherokee. I don't know the numbers for this one , but don't think anything approaching that fiasco. MEast seemed to drive more while Greenville was content to shoot the three's....so the fouls may have favored East. Just don't know the numbers? Do you? Morristown West did a number on Cherokee last night despite a great game by Wynder. West is very balanced, well coached and is capable of beating anyone as they have shown. Osgood had a great game with some big three's. Look for West to do some major record improving and perhaps make it into the regional tournament.

No I just watch the games i don't keep up with the number of FT's each team shoots. A really outstanding team is one that can overcome a night when the calls don't go their way. You got to be fairly deep on the bench to do that.

I will say that in the Cherokee game some of the margin of fouls was due to the way that the Chiefs controled the tempo and pounded the ball to Wynder in the paint. The Canes were also trying to play catch up while the Chiefs were sagging back in a zone D which will sway the fouls toward the team that is pressing to catch up. You can't always look at the number of FT's each team shoots as a way of determining if the game was called fairly or not, circumstances can alter that. They may have missed some calls, but the officials have a much better view than I do from the bleachers, plus you certainly don't want your players to be consumed with the officiating.

Besides you can't do anything about it when the game is over so it is best to tip your hat to the opposing team and coaches for executing their game plan. The Chiefs did that on that night, just like the Canes did VS. the Green Devils.

As for the 'Canes, Decker's going to need to start playing a few more kids.....he's got to give Jerry Harris and Jeffrey Rose a few more minutes in order to give Basile, Deaderick, Shaw and Goins a little bit of a breather.

As for the Trojans, they're by far the most improved team since the start of the season. Larry Hurst has done a masterful job of getting those kids to buy into his system. I wouldn't want to have to play them in the tourney.

If what the players say is true Decker does not decide who plays nor does he make substitutions. I think Berquist does that as well as most of the practice coaching. A strange arrangement, but one that evidently works.

You are right with Pierce gone, Rose and Harris need to play more minutes. Rose was hurt which delayed his progress a bit, but they will need him as they play against bigger and better teams. Rose and Harris are both fast and good in the run and shoot along with deadrick, shaw, basile and goins. Shaw needs to shoot more three pointers as well. He is the purest shooter in the IMAC. Goins has been hitting three's lately, but giving the ball up a bit when driving. He needs to stick to the three pointers , dish off early, and avoid the traps.

Goins has awesome speed but runs ahead sometimes and gets trapped.Look for Shaw to have a great final run and post season. They need to get him open for more three's and stay out of foul trouble.

I think Greeneville's loss to East was unfortunate... having Shumate out was only a minor problem but losing Champion to a vicious elbow that knocked out a tooth and caused a concussion was a major blow. Yes East is dangerous all right, but Greeneville will be healthy come tourney time and paybacks are heck.

Sounds like a threat? Well at least now we will know it is "pre meditated" Thanks for the warning and the threat. You sound like you might be the same person as AuntMollie...I hope Greenville mends physically and goes on to win the state. They are a great team, well coached and seem to not represent the mean spirit you are demonstrating. The accident was just that , an accident. Good luck on working on your emotional well being...bitterness can be all consumming and blind one's vision. You deserve better Barb...so does Greenville....they are the best in the IMAC and need to represent us well in the region and state....go Green Devils and leave that Old Serpent behind you

The slow start by WEST can be explained by the administration going too slow in the hiring process.

They knew they had the best man for the job in Larry Hurst from the begining-but the drug their feet. Coach didn't start working out his guys till July almost too late - just days before he lost most to football.

The days of WEST and slow starts are now over. The reign of King Larry has begun.

WEST IMAC champs 05-06

Interesting observation. MWest is obviously talented and now well coached.

I didn't know Larry King took time out from CNN

West could easily go all the way

Good points and it probably would not have mattered as East's freethrow shooting has been dismal.

If these types of accidents occur during a celebration then maybe its time for the dreaded "excessive celebration" foul. Elbows and punches regardless of their intention are vicious when they disfigure a young man's face. There was more carelessness here than accident. I did not mean to imply that anyone from greeneville would seek vengence for the careless flailing that resulted in Champion's injury...only payback for the unfortunate loss. Expect healthy starters to bring their A game to Cherokee...not the wounded ones.

I wish they could take Andrew Pierce back. Without mentioning names I heard Cherokee and Volunteer had somewhat similar incidents but suspended rather than removed from the team. I think MEast may need Pierce and I think he is basically a great kid who obviously needs some help. I think his time out has already been enough

punishment. But then again just "my two cents".

He is not a bad kid, but made a big mistake. Decker is doin the right thing in my opinion. You got to let em know that those types of things will not be tolerated. I am sure that it was a very hard thing for Calvin to do but necessary none the less.
