With East giving young coaches a chance in baseball (Chris Gillies) and girls' basketball (Tracy Cloninger), why not give Derek Creech a shot at the boys' job? He's coached some of these young men at one poiint in time and has learned a great deal about the game while being an assistant under Bill Carlyle at WSCC. Plus, he would be the coach that would be most likely the one to stay for an extended period of time as his family and his wife's family are both located here in Morristown.

The names I'm hearing at East are Walters State assistant coach Derek Creech and Gary Barnes, a coach out of the Ga. area. If the school system is smart, they'll take Creech because of his ability to relate to young players, his work ethic and his knowledge of the game. Plus, I know that his family and his wife's family are in the Morristown area and he wouldn;t up and move like other coaches......like a Barnes would after a few years. On the West coaching front......my money's on assistant coach Tracy Beets.....he's a great fit for the West system. He knows the game of basketballl. One can't look at his record while at West Greene (lack of talent), With Creech at East and Beets at West, basketball in Morristown would quickly rise to the top of the IMAC and East Tennessee. OUT!

Got a question for DZBettin.....I was listeneing to the game on WCRK-AM 1150 and the play-by-play guy (mike rypel, i think is his name) said on the air that people in the JCHS pressbox were being obnoxious.....is that true?...this guy doesn't like people in Jeff County because he's made a statement bad-mouthing John Cagle (one of the nicest people you've ever meet) before and that ran all over me. Even if people were being obnoxious, you don't say that on the radio.....that's unprofessional, IMO! Your thoughts, DZBettin

Its good to see that Central can pick on Bearden and West. Its a good thing Farragut wasn't there. Since they won't play us in the regular season, I guess we will have to wait for the regionals - if they make it that far. I heard they better improve on a lot of things or they won't be as good as they were last year. Go Lady Admirals!

I think the top 3 will be 1. Powell 2. Karns 3. Central. Anybody else have any thoughts.

I believe that Farragut, Karns, Bearden, and Powell are head and shoulders above the rest of the teams in Knoxville. This season is almost here and time will tell, but these teams look to be the cream of the crop.

With all the players that Central lost they will be lucky to make it to the regional tournament this year. I guess we'll see just how good a coach he is because anyone could have won with last years team.

As for the 'Canes, Decker's going to need to start playing a few more kids.....he's got to give Jerry Harris and Jeffrey Rose a few more minutes in order to give Basile, Deaderick, Shaw and Goins a little bit of a breather. As for the Trojans, they're by far the most improved team since the start of the season. Larry Hurst has done a masterful job of getting those kids to buy into his system. I wouldn't want to have to play them in the tourney.
