krichunaka
Hampton was still in the dressing room when the horn sounded readying the teams for the second half. Coach Leslie Campbell was a bit displeased with her Lady Bulldogs' first half performance. Halftime Score: Cloudland 26 Hampton 24. Lacy Oliver, playing in front of her neighbors and friends of Stoney Creek, was scoreless in the first half (maybe a little NERVOUS), and for the first five minutes of the third quarter before getting a putback basket. Four minutes later, with 6:34 to play, Oliver had reeled off 13 points - two twos and three threes - to put the Lady Bulldogs in the lead. Heather Banner had eight points in the third quarter for the Lady 'Landers. Final: Hampton Lady Bulldogs 57 Cloudland Lady HIghlanders 51 Said Oliver: "Gosh, it looked like everyone from my church and neighborhood was in the building." daizee
I figured that it would be a cat fight after last week's game. Did the game stay night for four quarters? I hate I missed it. I am sure that it was as good to watch as it was last week.
krichunaka
It was a first half of runs.... Cloudland would appear on the verge of pulling away; then a couple baskets by the Lady Bulldogs. Hampton trailed until near the end of the third quarter before Oliver heated up. Cloudland never gave up and kept making adjustments on the hot shooter, as did Hampton. Chambers hit a couple layups near the end as Hampton spread the court just a bit; it was that close throughout. Cloudland was living off the three early; and that might have been their ultimate downfall, as they never really established their BIG game. But most teams will take the three as long as it's open, and as long as it's falling. Hampton plays Unaka today at 5:00. Should be a great game. krichunaka
Hampton definitely has shooters, and Price can be good in the paint. Unaka will have to extend to the perimeter in order to keep the three in check; plus remember that Lauren Pittman is also a great shooter. On the other hand, Unaka poses several problems for Hampton, one of which Coach Leslie Campbell hasn't had the opportunity to see Unaka play, whereas Coach Chambers has seen Hampton a couple times now. Unaka has Julie Roberson, the primiere center in the area; and they have two others - Tiffany Babb and Danielle Ensor - who post well and provide depth for Roberson. The Rangers should be able to match Hampton's outside shooting with Jessica Osborne, Rene Ensor and Coty Townsend, but that's not the kind of game Unaka will get into against Hampton. Unaka would normally be a slight favorite; but Hampton played in Unaka's gym last night, which is both an advantage and disadvantage. Fatigue could play a factor depending on whether Hampton tries to run with Unaka as they certainly did against Cloudland. If the Rangers can defend the perimeter, they'll defeat Hampton, maybe by double-digits. HOWEVER, if the Lady Bulldogs are able to get shots off like last night, then this one could be a real treat. Unaka will win, but only if, and to the extent they're able to utilize their advantage in the paint.
