There are so many good teams in this district that its really hard to tell. MLK is the clear cut top team in the district but the rest of it is so topsy turvy that you can't really tell. There are so many good teams in that district that its ridiculous. The only thing for sure is that this district will once again beat the daylights out of 7AA.

How do you think this district will end up??? It seems as if MLK has things already wrapped up for tops.

Good question. These next couple of weeks should be very intense for the teams vying for the other top 3 spots. The problem is it won't make a big difference since all the games, including the first round, will be played at MLK this year. It won't be like it has been the last few years with the top four teams earning home court advantage. The other thing is there are several evenly matched teams that any one of them could beat the other on any given night.

#9 Macon and #8 Portland will play the "play in game", with the winner getting the grand prize of playing #1 MLK in the first round.

Second through seventh is a scramble. We will probably not know until the final regular season games are played.

Here are the current standings:

1. MLK 11-0. Strong possibilty to stay here. Can anybody pull the upset?

2. Lipscomb 9-2. Still have SC at home, MLK away, GB at home, and Springfield away.

3. Greenbrier 8-3. Still have Springfield, HF, SC, and DL all away. Finish with East Lit at home. Tough schedule for the Bobcats.

4. Springfield 9-4. The biggest surprise of the district this year. They have Greenbrier at home, at East Lit, and DL at home.

5. Station Camp 6-5. Play at Portland, at DL, GB at home, at MLK, East Lit at home. If the Bisons peak come tourney time...watch out.

6. East Lit 4-7. MLK, Springfield, Portland at home. Finish on the road with SC and Greenbrier. Tough schedule for this young team.

7. Hume Fogg 4-8. By far the most improved team in the district. Play at Portland, GB, Macon and MLK at home. Dangerous team.

8. Portland 2-11.

9. Macon 0-14.

Should be another exciting finish in 8-AA. Best of luck to all.

Livingston (19-6) and Dekalb (15-3) may have something to say about the 7-AA comment.

Where will the regional tournament be played this year?

I think that Portland has improved tremendously over the course of this season. Everyone has tagged them with the #8 seed but I think that with a little help from some other teams in the district and if they could sneak a win against a Station Camp, (which they had a chance to beat at Station Camp) Hume Fogg, or East Lit they could possibly catch either of the latter mentioned teams that have 4 wins. They have had some good outings over the past couple of weeks and they have played each of their district opponents to a much closer game the second time around. They gave Springfield a real scare last Friday night. I know that Coach Watts will not be satisfied with moral victories but this team is doing much better than I would have guessed.
