Ridgeway-Fairley

Ridgeway plays Fairley tonight in the Regional championship at Ridgeway at 6:30. Both of these teams have good chances of winning state and I expect this game to be a state championship game atmosphere. SO does anybody have a prediction? I think Ridgeway is gonna win. Both teams matchup great with Fairley getting an advantage in the size category(the combo of J-Rock(Jeremy Jones) and Wood(Reginald Owens) are bigger than the combo of Pierre and Earnest Fields.) I give the nod to Ridgeway because its gonna be hard for a team to beat them on their home court wit so much on the line. The loser of this game will more than likely go to Jackson and play Jackson North Side for a chance to go to state.Nobody wants to do that. Fairley went last year and lost, I doubt if they wanna go back up there again. Ridgeway and Jackson North Side split two games this season both winning games at home. To tell the truth, now that I think about it, I dont want a Memphis team to win state. That way it makes White Stations accomplishments over the years look better.

Fairley by 3 pts (67-64).

Slimdaddy, this game will not feature "stall-ball (thank goodness)," but will not be a track meet, either. It'll likely come down the last few posessions...execution.

Ridgeway has a superior passing team, but Fairley executes better in the half-court game. Ridgeway has the edge in free throw shooting, but Fairley gets the nod on rebounding, especially offensively. All other key areas are about equal, IMO.

On paper, this has all the makings of being a great game--a definite nail-biter!

I seriously doubt I'll get annoyed watching THIS game, though part of me wants to go watch Raleigh Egypt host Mitchell...... That's gonna' be one hotly contested game, no doubt. I think R.E will rebound to win this rematch by 3pts, as well.

Lastly, Slimdaddy, you're entitled to root against a Memphis team winning the AAA title. I don't agree with you, though.

You see, IMO, nothing can deminish White Station's 4 championships in 5 years. ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! Therefore, why NOT root for a Memphis team? You live in the Memphis/surrounding area-- don't you? Personally, I can't think of one single reason (unless, of course its "stall-ball" Woodale  ).

    • Playing high school sports is a privilege not a right.  The college did not have to rescind the scholarship.  Scholarship offers are pulled all the time for a number of reasons. That was 100% their choice.  A coach can keep, cut, or dismiss any player that they want to without reason anytime they want.  Is that the right way to run a program?? I don't think that it is, but these are the facts of the matter. This case has absolutely 0% chance of going in the plaintiff's favor. Futhermore, I'd imagine that these administrators and the coach are a part of some teaching or coaching organization that will cover at least 1 million dollars each in legal fees. Obviously the kid and her family feel like there were "damages" thus the lawsuit.  Unfortunately, the law is not on their side in this case.
    • Maryville will recapture the loses from last year against West, Bradley and Farragut. The Bearden game will be the tough one but I look for the wheels to come off that ride somewhere down the road because of all the crap that goes on there. I know to many parents there and some of the things I've been told and some of the post a few of them have made on facebook. They all can't be liars.
    • If Heritage moves down and Alcoa moves up the best thing for Heritage is to do what William Blount did when theystopped playing Maryville or meet certain defeat. Honestly can't see Alcoa not moving up the way the county is growing. Might be in the Mountaineers best interest to stay in 5A because none of those teams on their schedule are anything close to Alcoa.
    • I say over as well. Barney, regarding the move to 4A, will the cross-town blowhards move up as well??
