I'll tell ya, my job requires a lot of driving around and I happen to be coming by Sequoyah Monday evening. Just so happening was a JV game, and I believe they were playing Tellico. There was a nice crowd there considering it was a JV game. A close game with the Chiefs winning. But during the game, I spoke with the smartest guys there (the ones who stand near the fence), and they are excited by the things that are happening. Chiefs JV only have 1 loss this year, the varsity apparently getting better each week (even though the record doesn't reflect it). One thing that stood out in our conversation was that last years team finished with only 21 players, after starting with 65-70 kids. But no drop off this year, they are hanging around and putting the work in. one fellow jokingly said they may need another bench for all the injured players. They spoke highly of the coaching staff that King has assembled, former head coaches, coaches from when King himself played. They think the number of of coaches are in the double figures.
So to answer your question, I think things are going in the right direction and the support is huge. Football just hasn't been very relevant lately and nobody really knows much about CoachT. My guess, folks will start rolling in here soon enough. Good luck on the rest of your season OldBear.
I’m pulling for Perry County in this one. They ran the same play on offense 90% of the time when they came down to Cornersville a few weeks back but them boys are big and play hard.
