  1. Megan and Molly Kinsella at Vanderbilt. Freshman Molly Kinsella is starting and is leading the team in shots, I believe. Sister Megan is a top reserve.
  2. The mention of the outstanding 2005 JPII team leads me to offer up this topic. What's the best team ever in the history of TN women's high school soccer? Okay, my vote is St. Agnes from last year (Kelly Dyer, the Kinsella sisters, and many others). Honorable mention to JPII in 2005 (Megan Forester's team). I'd be interested in hearing from some of the posters with a long history in the State (and all others for that matter). I know the posters from the Western part of the State will have some strong entries!
  3. If Josie Rix is on the bench, it's a big loss for GPS. In my humble opinion, she's a sure fire DI prospect. Skilled, smart, big, and fast.
  4. Graybard: It doesn't have stats, per se, but see the link below to read an article about the game. http://knoxnews.com/news/2007/sep/05/short...b-ties-gps-2-2/
  5. I agree with BigG--it seems strange that UT did not try harder to pull Laura Novicoff in. She's a rare combination of size, talent, determination, and intelligence. Morgan Grunenfelder is another local (Sweetwater) freshman doing well, starting for a strong Carson Newman team, scoring two goals on Sunday.
  6. I haven't seen Catholic, but I know that they still have Gretchen Sutch who, unless she's really regressed, is about as good a goal scorer as you're going to run across.
  7. EastTNref Appreciate your efforts but you can't leave Webb School of Knoxville off your overall list! They beat Catholic 6-1 last night. Also, but more debatable, CAK should be ahead of West and Maryville due to their strong showing against Farragut.
  8. Repete...enjoyed your post. I suspect you are one of the ref's I liked when my children were playing.
  9. Webb of Knoxville 5, St. Cecilia 0
  10. At this early stage of the season, the GPS victory would seem like a really quality win. Congratulations to GPS. To Siegel, you will bounce back and have your share of quality wins, also. Keep working at it!
  11. CAK has a real nice team again. Good speed, good coaching. They will improve as the season goes along and they're pretty good already.
  12. I like your rankings EastTN, but I'd put CAK ahead of Maryville and West in your overall list. Oh, and Webb ought to be up there right after Maryville and West, I think.
  13. "Must coach" must exaggerate to inflate himself and his teams.
  14. Kat is the kind of young person you root for. Wonderful talent, great kid, great attitude. Very nice parents, I might add.
  15. Was the game at Baylor or at Bearden? I wish I had seen the game so I could make a more informed opionion (attendees please help here). Ignorance never stopped me before, so I will offer these opinions. Bearden will be strong again--too much talent, too much coaching. My guess is that Coach Turner was messing with combinations in the midfield to replace important talent lost through graduation. Still, kudos to Baylor. They seem to crank out good teams in mediocre talent years and great teams in good talent years. This is a function of their coaching, mostly, but also to their excellent training facilities. We will see both of these teams advance deep into their respective playoff brackets.
  16. Understand now. That's a VERY fast 800 time for a female high school athlete. Various friends and family members are acquainted with Notre Dame soccer players and parents. They are uniformly impressive.
  17. Don't understand your comment. Are you saying she should switch to the cross country team?
  18. Don't know how they could have missed Carey Lieper from Notre Dame.
  19. First, my favorite team is still Sweetwater. Why? Because you just gotta love a team named Sweetwater! Using a 10 point system where 10 is the best team in the State and 1 is a team that loses just about all its games, and using Chasanooga's rankings for Chattanooga and Hamlet7478 for Knoxville: Chattanooga Area 1. Notre Dame 8.5 1. Baylor 8.5 3. CCS 7.5 4. Ooltewah 7.5 5. Soddy Daisy 7.0 6. GPS 7.0 7. Hixson 6.5 8. Red Bank 6.5 9. Boyd Buchanon 6.5 10. Grace 6.5 Total 72 Knoxville Area 1.Farragut 9.5 2.Bearden 8.5 3.CAK 8.0 4.Oak Ridge 8.0 5.Maryville7.5 6.Webb 7.0 7.Catholic 6.5 8.Karns 6.5 9.Knox West 6.5 10.Alcoa 6.0 Total 74 Close, but Knoxville wins, largely on the strength of its top team. I want everyone to know that this analysis has been scientifically validated by statisticians at the Oak Ridge National Lab.
  20. How's this for getting things stirred up: Is the Chattanooga Area top ten better than the Knoxville Area top ten?
  21. My shot at it: 1.Farragut 2.Bearden 3.CAK 4.Oak Ridge 5.Maryville 6.Webb 7.Catholic 8.Karns 9.Knox West 10.Sweetwater/Alcoa/Seymour (okay, #10 is a copout)
  22. Real Madrid has advanced to the semi's. RM is also a very, very strong team. Congratulations to them and best of luck in the semi's.
  23. By dirty, do you mean "excellent" or "brilliant". If so, yes, I'd agree that it is.
  24. Bulldog, bulldog, bow-wow-wow, Bearden now!
