  1. Footballfan, there is a thread dedicated to District 2AA. There is some discussion on that thread about the district. Your input would also be welcome. It appears that Pigeon Forge has the best team at this point, as they are unbeaten in the district. Rutledge is 4-1 with all of those games being on the road. They have a big game at S. Greene Friday if the weather cooperates. It is a pretty balanced district with the exception of W. Greene.
  2. South Greene lost at Cocke Co. No wod on Cumberland and Chuckey.
  3. Rutledge played well. W. Greene is down, they start three freshmen. Score could have been real ugly. Singleton and Day were pretty awesome. Day had 6 3's and could have shattered the single game record but played anly 2 1/2 quarters. Singleton was 12 of 16 from the field with 4 3's and two monster dunks for 27 points. Sets up a big game Friday at S. Greene. Lets keep this thread going guys. Post any scores and updates that you know of. Union beat Claiborne and Pigeon beat GP, but I don't know any details.

  5. That will be a big lineup for Union. I don't see 4 losses for Pigeon in the District however. Cumberland would be scary if they had those players, but I quess we are lucky that they do not.
  6. You are correct aben. Teams will change alot during the season due to sickness and injuries. Some teams may not be full strength now. It is very early. Just trying to get some discussion going. How is Union looking AJ?
  7. Kev B's picks are probably pretty accurate, but any of the top 7 could probably beat each other. Chuckey and W. Greene will always paly hard and should not be taken for granted, especailly on their home court.
  8. Gonna be a fun race. Pigeon should win it this year if they are ever going to.
  9. Game was canceled due to the flu.
  10. Are you counting Rutledge out in District 2AA? We hope that you are. Rutledge beat Claiborne by 23 at Claiborne. Claiborne beat South Greene at Claiborne.
  11. You are probably right football. It seems to be a very balanced district though. It looks like anyone could win on a given night. South Greene could make some noise as well. Rutledge was tied with Pigeon Forge at Pigeon late in the 4th quarter and Pigeon made a lot of Free throws down the stretch to make the score look worse than it was. If I were a betting man though I would put my money on the Patriots this year.

    coaching

Coaches do everything that officials do plus they practice on offdays (Monday, Wednesday, Thursday). Do officials practice on offdays? Thats what I thought!

    coaching

People are not standing in line to coach at most schools. Many schools have to beg people to coach.

    coaching

Until you have coached you would not realize how much time these coaches have to devote. I am not saying that it makes them good coaches, but it is hard to criticize guys who are giving so much of themselves in order to benefit our children. If the officials spent nearly as much time at practice as the coaches did then maybe there wouldn't be as many complaints.
  15. I think the alley-oop was the best because it was unexpected. I agree that someone better get Singleton. I also think that someone should give Day some looks because he can shoot with anyone.
  16. Matt Day tied a school record with 7 3's and had 24 points. Daniel Singleton was spectacular with 25 points and two awesome dunks.
  17. They would proboably be rotten tomatoes for you hornet, with all of the kind words that you have for Rutledge and Grainger Co. We have no doubt that you will give your opinion, however we do not care if it is Honest or not and frankly do not care about your opinion.
  18. Daniel Singleton of Rutledge is definately a high riser.
  19. Gomab, I'm glad to see that you included Daniel Singleton on your list. He dropped off a lot of peoples radar when he was unable to play this summer. He has been working hard and is much bigger, faster, stronger, and jumps higher. He has offers on the table but is waiting to see what happens after the season. He should have a big season.
  20. Daniel Singleton and Matt Day at Rutledge should be included.
  21. Rutledge won by about 10. Good game. Good guard play from both teams. Game had to be moved to Grassy Fork Elementary because of power outage at Cosby. It was a small gym. Would like to see them play on a large court. Cosby will do well this season.
  22. You proved nothing except ignorance. We beat Cumberland Gap, Gibbs, West Greene, Union County, and Sullivan North at home this year. None of those teams have had outstanding seasons and none of them required the help of the officials to win. We lost on the road to Seymour, Fulton, and Rockwood. I don't believe there is any shame in any of those losses. Check their records on their homefields. You need to check your facts closer the next time. If you are going to post on a Rutledge thread then you should expect it to be read and responded to
  23. Professor, I need further simplification. I have lived in Rutledge for all of my life (36 years), and have seen the majority of the sports events played there during that time. I assure you that we have been screwed by the officials far more than we have been helped by them. You do not hear us on here complaining about it. We believe if you are going to give the officials credit when you lose then you must also give them the credit when you win. I am not willing to do that. What makes you such an expert on the officiating of games at Rutledge. Back up what you say with some facts!! It is not self explanatory without proof.
  24. Eventhough Rutledge will be the higher seed, AC is higher ranked, so I do believe it would be an upset. I agree with proudeagle that Seymour will be Kingston.
