  1. I agree. I read quite a few negative comments in here about teams, coaches, players, & refs. And some of these comments are made by people who claim to be coaches. I'm glad my daughter doesn't play for any of them. What kind of a coach can a person be with a viewpoint that is so negative and critical? I can only imagine how they must treat their players.
  2. Maybe he was, maybe not. I was just speculating because of the goalie change and the formation changes. I never said that Oak Ridge was tired. I gave credit to Beech and speculated on Oak Ridge's changes. Oak Ridge had nothing to gain by winning against Beech other than pride. Houston had already won their 4th game earlier that day and locked up the tournament. I did not see the game, but I heard they looked pretty decent vs. Collierville the night before. You don't win anything by being ranked higher or lower. It's all about winning the last game of the season. Some coaches put a lot of emphasis on winning every single game, and some are focused further down the road, taking opportunities to improve their team even if it means risking an early season loss.
  3. Beech did play well, but I wouldn't call it a dominating performance. They were outshot by Oak Ridge, and the outcome of the game was very much in doubt until the Oak Ridge goalie mis-handled a back pass and gifted a goal to Beech. Kudos to Beech for the win. They earned it and should be proud. But you make it sound like they ran all over Oak Ridge, and that absolutely did not happen. Also, did you happen to wonder why Oak Ridge started their 2nd string goalie? Did you happen to notice that they were switching formations? I think the Oak Ridge coach was experimenting, and had more goals in mind than simply winning the game. Houston had already won the tournament by then. Another poster said that Oak Ridge seemed not to know what to do with the ball. Could the coach have been experimenting with positions too?
  4. Pretty hypocritical of you, I must say. I think its pretty clear that "informed", "soccer37830", and "dobie" are all the same person with the same M.O. Sign up for a new username, then bash Oak Ridge. I'm sure that their coach would be more than happy to discuss this odd obsession you have with their program. Why don't you discuss it with him and stop trashing them here? I'm sure that you can find his email address on their website, or you can probably find the school's phone number online. And why are you so worried about them anyway? They didn't win their district or their region, and it seems clear that you are a Bearden supporter. Can't you just be happy that your team won state?
  5. I'd like to hear from some of you soccer moms & dads out there whose daughters don't get to play much for their high school team. I'm trying to deal with my daughter's frustrations at not getting much playing time, and she is frustrated because while she is one of the better players on her competitive team, she is a freshman in high school and is only getting to play a handful of minutes per game on average, and she hasn't played at all in several games. She feels, as do I, that she is better than some of the starters, and a couple of other parents on the team have said the same. Some of you have doubtlessly seen a "parent's code of conduct" that tells us not to sideline coach, etc. and suggests that after the game we tell our child that they played well. But what if they didn't play? How do i make the point to my daughter that she is doing a good job when it seems to her, based on not getting to play, like she's done poorly? I've encouraged her as much as I can, but the lack of playing time has her down and her confidence is pretty low as well. I think it's hard for kids coming from the club soccer envirionment to adjust to the way high school coaches run their team. I've heard several stories about how high school coaches choose their teams and award playing time. Sometimes it's based on age/grade, or politics, or just the plain 'ol buddy system. How do you explain to a child that the reason they aren't playing isn't because of their ability, but instead because of some other reason that we can't explain because it makes no sense other than "that's the way things are"?
  6. Although Franklin has a loss to St. Agnes, they are undefeated in AAA
  7. Pretty strong statement considering Bearden hasn't played 2 of those teams, and lost to Farragut at home. Bearden hasn't even beaten any of the teams that BW & OR have lost to.
