Just sayng a class coach would have probably said something like "I did not have them ready to play" and taken the blame off two teenage boys instead of saying their turnover cost his team the game! Oh well maybe he can hang eighty on the next opponent and feel better.

Way to throw your backs under the bus Ballard! Blaming one fumble for the loss. Hold them there and you score! Not to worry you will beat the little teams in your conference! Wonder what percentage of people even remember who the devils played last year for their gold ball. Bet everyone would remember if you had beaten a Maryville, an Oak Ridge, or anyone from a power program. I know sizewise you are in the right level but program and pridewise you are way lower than you should be. By the way several Greene teams of the past would have destroyed the two 4A champs most notably the teams that Frank Debusk and Marty Story played on. Anyway have a great season in biddy ball!

Wow all that against the smallest 2A team in the state!!!!! How impressive!!! Please pat yourself on the back! I am a Greeneville alum and I find very little to be proud of here sorry!

Come on guys we need to let the Greene Satans enjoy their moment before it gets destroyed in the playoffs around that tiny little Knoxville area! Then stand back and watch over the next four years or so as the once proud program begins to play down to the level of competition in the new league. Once upon a time Unicoi County was a program that most of the South Greenes and West Greenes of the area could not compete with in any sport but just look how the program has crashed not risen. All hail the mighty Greeneville Greene Satans while you still can!

Oh should we give the Greene Satans a Greene County championship?? Wait they need to add North Greene to their schedule so it can be a legit championship!! Hurry , someone call Nashville and let TSSAA know that the Greene Satans should be proclaimed GREENE COUNTY CHAMPIONS for all of Tennessee to adore!!!!

I think the opposite is just as likely to happen....the rest of the league will rise to their level of competition, unless of course our non-conference foes change over the next 5 years...Since Greeneville is a 4A playoff team they will always play a tough non-conference schedule to prepare for the playoffs. Since region 1 only has 1 4a team (Sullivan North), Greeneville has to prepare for region 3...not a cakewalk but definitely do-able. Don't doubt the heart of the rest of the conference...they have the will to succeed. They just need to develop the will to prepare. You may be right barb but lack of facilities and equipment such as state-of-the-art weight rooms will make most of the difference for the underfunded county schools. It will be much easier to sink than to rise! After a couple of years of beating up on their county "rivals" attendance will fall way off and the GHS athletic budget will take a major hit. Very few people go to BB games at GHS now and football is sure to follow with this new league. I truly hate to see it but I believe it will come to pass.

Here is what i think. Devils by far are the team to beat and are the POWERHOUSE!!! They score 3 td's in about what 8 min? They caught a few interceptions even. The devils got OFFENSE!!! The run game was Awesome. But Don't let me forget that BIG DEFENSE!!! D was simply AMAZING!!! Devils are by far the BEST in this conference. West Greene I've heard all kinds of rumors and crap about how bad your going to beat the devils. So if you play like you did today you will be embarrised. I think you were watching there game tonight. So beware. Shld be a good year for Devils and for the county. County will learn how bigger schools play. Devils have a much faster tempo. Best games to watch for the Devils will be out of conference games. Devils Will WIN BIG!!! GO DEVILS!!! Yeah lets sit back and see how much statewide respect Greeneville garners for beating SG, CD,WG and the rest of the 2A schools in their conf.

GHS will win this league with ease for at least 5 years but eventually the program will sink down to the level of competition and they will lose now and then. I predict that they will do ok in the playoffs for a couple of years and the lack of a quality league will lead to one and done most years.

Go compare GHS to South Greene in Gateway scores the last six years. I am a GHS grad but these days it appears that the Greeneville system is all about entering "pat-me-on-the-back" contests instead of actual acheivement. Also maybe Ms. Stroud is trying to create more discipline in her new role at GHS because it was certainly not to be found in her previous role at GMS.

Word I hear is that it is not about money but power and authority! Been told the coach did not attend faculty meetings etc. and that Ms. Stroud did not agree with some of the methods he used in teaching his classes. I was told that he told Ms. Stroud that he did not answer to her but that he answered to Bewley and Niswonger. The confrontation blew up into his immediate resignation. Just the scuttlebutt as I have received it.......take it for what it is worth! Either way this coaching debacle along with the drop in classification may make it very difficult for Greeneville to get a high quality proven coach to gamble his career by accepting the Greeneville job anytime soon.

Wait until they see their gate money fall off as fast as it will. Who is going to pay to see the Greene Satans play the county schools and the others in the new conference. They might be tough for a year or two and then watch the decline. Case in point is Elizabethton. They used to compete with the big boys in region one but now they struggle to compete in the major boys sports at two A. You are only as good as the people you play and that is why the Tennessee men and women's basketball schedule so tough. They just want to win baby win!! Maybe Niswongerville will get themselves a state championship in something if they keep moving down!

South Greene 42-14. Not even close and neither is to good! Just another banner year for Greene County football!

You could be right but history begs to differ. Region one just does not have the strength, speed and numbers that region 2 has. There have been several region 1 teams in past years that were much better than any of this year's teams that were blasted by region 2 teams. I am a region 1 fan but I just don't see any reason to think that anything will change anytime soon!

South Greene should win this one around 17-0. Does not really matter much because all teams from the area in 2A will make their usual first round exit in the playoffs.

The mercy rule does nothing but take playing time away from your young ones who do not get to play much as it is. Any coach can find ways to not run up the score if he so chooses. It is really easy to use the full play clock and run the one and two hole to run some time off with a big lead. Too many coaches wait way too long to get their babies into the game these days.

I think so too! Sad thing is the only way any Greene County school is going to win one this year is when they play each other! A Greene Co school has to win in those match ups!! /blink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":blink:" border="0" alt="blink.gif" />

I believe it will be SG, CD, NG, WG next year and then as usual they will get smoked by the Ktown area AA teams. SG will be young but that young group from Camp Creek that won county championship will be sophs and should go with what talent came from the other feeders to make a decent team. One thing is certain, next year we will find out if the SGHS staff can coach or not cause they have their work cut out for them.
