  1. Good luck Greenbrier from some of your programs fans down in West TN.
  2. Good hard nosed football game. Covington was keeping Dyersburg off balance until the injury took the QB out. Hate Caldwell will have to sit out a playoff game, but your offense should still be OK. Beau (?) did a great job for you folks in that last drive. Seems your defense will have to man up a bit more as you get deeper in the playoffs. Good luck to Dyersburg and our other Region teams in the playoffs. Guess I will be making the trip north to watch the games until next year when the Chargers will be back!
  3. I am afraid that what you observed at JCM has happened at several of the older city schools in West TN as the population base moves to different areas. Here in our county the "old City School" is down to 700+ kids while the other two schools have grown to more than double that. Discipline goes down and the program begins a slow decline. I too feel for the kids because community support, facilities and teaching also decline. Good luck to both teams on Friday night.
  4. Hey, Hats off to a good win. Covington did not play so I came over to Brownsville to catch your game. I told some of the folks around here that your win over Covington was by a good team. That's the way to follow up. Good luck and if Covington can get folks healthy and playing maybe, just maybe, we can meet again. We have a tough match with Haywood this Friday.
  5. As bad as it seems the Chargers only need four in a row starting next Friday to put things in good shape. Don't bail out just yet!
  6. Having watched both teams beat the Chargers I plan to come and watch this game while Covington is getting a much needed off week. I felt Brighton played on emotion and dominated Covington. I thought the Munford group was fortunate and got a couple of breaks to win. This will be a good game. Best of luck to both teams as they battle for the county championship!
  7. I just hope to see the Chargers look more disciplined on and off the field. Just not ready to see a Covington team with helments off, shirts out, etc. It has been a long time since I saw so many Covington players on the sidelines with cramps, etc. That being said, the number of offensive sets that the Chargers ran in the first half against Tupelo was amazing. I agree with Charger Fan--That quarterback and receiver for Tupelo was the best I have watched come into the West TN Area.
  8. I am willing to accept your comments, but for the record I have not missed but 4 charger games since 1976. The 80's were a tough time for Charger football winning only 40 games during the decade. It was not until 97 that the current succes we now enjoy began. And yes, the Charger support has been down this year. I think that sometimes we get spoiled by success. With that out of the way, I still say that CC had one of the best teams that has come through this Region in a long time. Sorry I offended you.
  9. Lots of fun if you were a charger fan! I think this game ranks with the win over Greenbrier a few years back. CC fans really were supporting their team. Hard fought game with both teams pulling out all the stops. Good weather until the drive home. CC really missed Perry plugging the middle LB spot last night. That seemed the difference to me. Good luck next week at D-Burg!
  10. I can't see Covington coming into CC and pulling off a win. Covington is just too banged up. With the offense struggling and Hall not able to play we become a one threat team. Will say they have been staying late all week working on pass coverage! Look forward to coming over to CC and seeing some old friends. Hope C-Town proves me wrong but I see CC getting the win by twelve or more.
  11. Just got home from the game and I am ready to say CC is one of those special teams that have that chance for the trip to the Boro. Good solid whipping of Covington tonight. After loosing Hall in the 1st quarter Covington did not have any options on offense. Really nice throws by Massey - That is what you need, a good balanced attack. Was really impressed with the way you folks caught the ball tonight. Good Luck the rest of the way. I hope Covington regroups and can advance in the playoffs. If not I will just come over to Alamo. Good crowd, you folks supported your kids and that is what it's all about.
  12. It's going to be hard to beat CC. Hope the game is well played and everyone gets out of it without injuries. I am a West TN football nut and hope our Region 7 teams go into the playoffs healthy. Wont't be long now. You folks coming down from CC drive safely and have a good time here in Covington supporting your team. Go Chargers!
  13. Covington should be concerned about the number of times that they are putting the ball on the ground. You can't give a good team like CC any extra opportunities. Being a Covington fan, I continue to worry about the Covington kicking game. It is no doubt that both teams had better be in their best form! Hope both teams come through this one healthy. It is going to be a killer playoff season regardless of who wins!
  14. Best defensive ball game that I have watched in the past 10 years. Both teams were wrecking offensive plays. Seemed Covington needed another week of work on the pitch. They sure left the football on the field a number of times. Great job by both teams. Dyersburg had a defensive player in the backfield most of the night. Good secondary play by Dyersburg. The open receiver for Covington on the last play had to make one draw up a bit! Good luck to both of these fine Region teams.
  15. Pretty good game by both teams. Number 51 for Obion is a horse. Number 7 should sleep well as hard as he worked. Great speed by #1 also. Great job by the linebackers. I agree-both teams missed a few chances. Number 12 was pretty excited to play. He got knocked out of the game last year at your place. I did not expect Obion to punt that last time since they had played so loose all night long. Good luck-good chance to see a rematch!
  16. Being a Covington fan I have watched Brighton/JCM during our off week and both Brighton and Munford during the reqular season games. Seems JCM has a hard time playing a complete game. I was impressed with their athletes. Brighton is getting better but keeps finding a way to loose. Covington shut down Munford's ground game. Covington is so fast it was hard to gauge how fast Munford's backs were. Munford does have some qualty athletes. During the Covington/Munford game it seemed that Munford was playing it very close to the vest. Then when I read that they don't swap video, it seems they may approach the game with HC with some different game planning. Just my thought. Good luck Munford and all of the Tipton County teams.
  17. Covington's defense is getting better each week. Seems that is a Jay Murphee signature. Same thing happened last year. They keep adding variations to the wing on offense. I have watched all of the past Obion County games and do expect a close game. Have a lot of respect for what they have accomplished against Covington. Not many teams can claim a 2-2 with Covington. I only see one weak link with Covington this season and that has been the PAT's. I worry that a missed extra point or missed try for 2 will cost them before the season is over. Have a lot of good friends up in Obion County and look forward to you folks coming down to Covington. See you Friday.
  18. Over 300 yards of offense and only had 3 series in the first half. But you have to admit that the Munford band is great!
