The Hunters Lane Freshman team beat Antioch last night 43 - 16 for the Metro City Championship. The varsity teams will play Friday night at 7:00 pm. It has been changed to the Comcast game of the Week.

A good freshman program is one of the key cornerstones of a high school football program. Teaching fundamentals, discipline, and the system is all that needs to be done. Many freshman coaches run a different system than that of their high school and many problems occur. By the way, Hunters Lane beat Antioch for the metro freshman championship 40 - 16. All of the H.L. players vowed after the game to stay together for 3 more years. That is what it takes!

If I remember correctly, the NCAA, or at least the OVC, uses wins against common opponents as the second tie breaker if two teams have identical records without playing each other. I do know in Metro, the middle schools and 9th grades have a simple tie breaker solution to this and it has been done several times. If two teams from the same conference have identical records without playing each other, they have a "tie breaker overtime" game on the Monday following the regular season. Put the ball on the 10 yd. line and play "overtime". The winner goes on and the loser goes home. The only problem with it is, i'm sure the TSSAA won't go along with it, or any other ideas, and maybe rightfully so. Has this situation ever came up before now anywhere in the state? :confused:

Wednesday, October 30th will decide the Metro Freshman City Championship. Antioch (7-0) at Hunters Lane (7-0). Game time is 5:00pm.

Jim Overstreet is the new Coordinator of Discipline Referrals for Metro. Whenever a kid has a zero tolerance charge, too many discipline referrals, or just plain is a pain, they appear before him and his committee for "sentencing". His office handles it all. It is an 8 to 4 job, M - F. Much fewer headaches.

What do you have against metro public school football? Almost everyone of your posts put down metro football in some shape or form! Whatever your beef is against metro, GET OVER IT!! We have many totally different situations in many of our programs compared to the other county public school systems. I'm sure your mama told you if you don't have anything nice to say about someone, KEEP YOUR MOUTH SHUT!!
