  1. I would think Mike McClaury would be the front runner with Lavergne's Dean Darnall as a close second. Any other names being thrown around? Any time frame on the hire?
  2. What are the names floating around Rutherford County for the head coach at the new Sterwarts Creek High School?
  3. I got to see Mt. Juliet play one game in the state tournament unaware of the injuries to their staff and was told of Farragut's same issues. What a shame those teams did not have their staffs healthy. Did not see any of the Class A tournament, but was shocked that FCS went out so early. They cerainly looked like the team to beat on paper. That is why the outcomes are played on the field. But both had great years and should be congratulated as well as all teams who advanced.
  4. I will take school baseball anytime. If a summer team loses they play next weekend. As long as you can pay, you can play. How many players hitting 50 to 100 points higher in the summer and in the spring, where there is a definitive end, they don't hit as well? I say there is actual pressure to playing high school baseball. Do you think the upcoming Monday will have more pressure than the ________ ___________ summer classic? I agree that the teams have better players overall because the players are recruited. I would much rather watch high school. My preference only. Not trying to start some prolonged argument.
  5. I think they could have played no games till the district tournament, go in as the last seed, and still adavance to and win the state championship. You make my point about the teams with the best players generally win.
  6. Southpaw's point about high school baseball not mattering anymore is a sad truth. The adults have made summer baseball out to be the end all based on exposure. It is true that college coaches get out more for the obvious reason. But how many players have great "summers and falls" only to come back to high school ball and play no where near to the level they played in the summer and fall. In the summer and fall, if you lose...guess what? You play next week...until there is snow on the ground. In high school baseball, you lose and you are gone. There is a finality to it! Was there an argument made that the three game format would help beyond the district tournament? I don't see that as a huge bonus until the State Tournament...maybe. The three game series, in my opinion, leaves no doubt as to who is better at the time the games were played. Now a split is a tie. How many AAA State Champions have not had the best players in the last 20 years? I have only been in the area since 2000ish. Have there been years in 7-AAA that the best team did not advance to the regionals? As a fan of baseball with no high school aged children, I have enjoyed watching the games in this conference more so with the 3 game series.
  7. Under next year's format with this year's results: 1. Riverdale 9 - 1 2. Siegel 7 - 3 3. Oakland 6 - 4 4. Blackman 4 - 6 4. Smryna 4 - 6 6. Lavergne 0 - 10 Three teams with losing district records have an equal chance of moving on. Seems "real" fair...
  8. I would wager Riverdale and Siegel were the 2 for the three game series. 7-AAA mirrors the world a bit more. Blend in, reward mediocrity, and make it easy not to produce. To quote Robert D. Rayford, we live in the "United States of the Offended." Don't make anyone mad or make them bring up their performance...bring the better people down. It just ain't right!!! Next thing you know, everybody is all-district, they won't keep score, and every team will have a dugout mom/dad with snacks, fruited water, and moist towels and spray bottles with fans.
  9. Baseball is designed to be played in series'. Rarely is there a two-game series. What is going to happen when Stewarts Creek comes in? One game, two halves...
  10. Can I PLEASE steal this and pass it on? This is AWESOME!
  11. Thanks for the information on open zone. Did not know they existed in Rutherford County. It is my understanding you must qualify for the IB program. Is that correct?
  12. As a UT fan, I am not surprised you did not understand the analogy. There is no way to prove BBCOR bats have been tampered with and there is no way to prove FCS actively recruits. They are an outstanding team from what I have heard. Eagleville as well, Eagleville does it with the players that are zoned. All I am saying. There is a difference from recruiting and giving financial aid. I did not say anything about financial aid. Please read my post.
  13. FCS should win every year. They have great facilities and great support. Like altered bats that can't be inspected, they do a great job of "non-recruiting' rcruiting. It is beyond me when they mail out invitations to come to their school, how this is not recruiting. Eagleville has a great team in the "we play the players that are in our zone" league.
  14. I have not seen you on the boards since we jousted a few years back. How is everything down South? Sorry to hear you are thru, but the future looks good. Guess you will apply for the vacant LHS girl's job to get closer to your good buddy Randall Hutto. Trying to get the pot stirred! keep it going.
  15. tnsddeveloper, You must have never went to a LHS game! All you have to do is listen to the announcer to hear how good they are. Come on, this is a "storied" program! Two third round playoff ventures in the last 25 years...not to mention all of the 8 and 9 win seasons and the "one and dones." The "good ole days" and those that remember them were the "bend but don't break defense" and "don't do anything to beat yourself offense" that would fall on its face in the playoffs because the opposition would score more than the patsies on LHS's schedule. How many region championships have they won? The last team to win a playoff game only won 6 regular season games. Bring back that staff and let's return to the "glory" years. I will comment on the transfers to FCS...some I would suspect are wanting to be "the bigger fish in a smaller tank." I agree with you that a real program allows the players to have a life outside of FB and taboo as it sounds at LHS....play another sport. I too am not a LHS grad even though I enjoy living here since the mid 80's.
