Jared White was recognized as the all-state punter, Josh LeNoir as the kicker. If you take away punting, what are Jared White's kicking stats? Did he play on the field, too or just kick? Here are Josh's stats:
Kicking: 35 of 37 PATs. Only 2 he missed were after he scored on long runs or multiple short runs at fullback. He made 6 of 8 field goals, the longest 47 yds, and was perfect from 47 yards and less. Don't know how many touchbacks on kickoffs, but always 2 or 3 per game.
This is a player who played linebacker on defense (42 tackles), and fullback on offense (12 touchdowns). The only time he left the field was punt and kickoff receiving teams. In 11 games, he scored 125 points.
Jared White deserved Mr. Football Kicker, no doubt about it. But no one should be chosen as the allstate punter on the defensive team, and the allstate kicker on the offensive team. If you do that, you open a big can of worms for all the 1A players who play both ways.
