  1. We get to play Manassas next season. I am looking forward to seeing OC's development, but am a little anxious about my son being on the field against him!! Of course, he will have bragging rights with his children: " I played against OC Brown when I was in high school".
  2. lilc3, thanks for starting this thread. I am a physical therapist, my daughter had an ACL reconstruction 1 year ago, and i have rehabbed lots of ACL patients. The comments from you and others about the emotional struggle is helping me with a high school girl (bball player) right now. Keep up the great work, and your transparency is appreciated!!!
  3. Jared White was recognized as the all-state punter, Josh LeNoir as the kicker. If you take away punting, what are Jared White's kicking stats? Did he play on the field, too or just kick? Here are Josh's stats: Kicking: 35 of 37 PATs. Only 2 he missed were after he scored on long runs or multiple short runs at fullback. He made 6 of 8 field goals, the longest 47 yds, and was perfect from 47 yards and less. Don't know how many touchbacks on kickoffs, but always 2 or 3 per game. This is a player who played linebacker on defense (42 tackles), and fullback on offense (12 touchdowns). The only time he left the field was punt and kickoff receiving teams. In 11 games, he scored 125 points. Jared White deserved Mr. Football Kicker, no doubt about it. But no one should be chosen as the allstate punter on the defensive team, and the allstate kicker on the offensive team. If you do that, you open a big can of worms for all the 1A players who play both ways.
  4. Josh LeNoir #20 from Trinity: 2008 stats: scored 125 points all total: 10 rushing TD's 2 receiving TD's 42 tackles, 35 of 37 PAT's 6 of 8 FG's (long was 47yds) Trinity played a tough schedule this year, including USJ, Lexington, JCS, Manassas, Chester Co who made the playoffs.
  5. My son is a kicker, and i am aware of the time it takes to develop consistency. But instruction is key. Do most high school coaches feel confident to teach kicking/punting? Don't most kickers just kick and kick until they figure it out? Inner city kids struggle in the off season with rides home, etc if they stay after school to kick. Or their fields are not available. If the coach is not confident, it gets left up to the player to have enough desire to work at something he has to figure out. My suggestion: The inner city coaches need to contact a college coach in their area. Most college athletes are expected to perform community service/PR for their university. Ask for the kicker and long snapper and holder to meet with your high school players one day a week, then to give them homework to do. The high school coach may have to work out rides for his high school players. And I guess NCAA /NAIA rules will need to be checked.
  6. Thanks, I am the most interested in kicking stats, and could not find those on the Murphy Fair site.
  7. Those are only middle TN schools. Any sites for the entire state?
  8. This is from the Jackson Sun, about Danny Kim from Camden: Kim, a senior, made 55 straight extra points, third-best all-time in state history, before missing his a point-after kick in the Lions' playoff loss to Fairview. Kim said he didn't even know about the streak until he became sixth-place all-time with a few weeks left in the season. After that, he said he started to get nervous kicking. He also made his only field goal try this year, ending the season with 58 points.
  9. Congratulation, Region 7A. Go show the rest of the state how West TN plays football!!! Good job. Keep playing.
  10. Ya gotta count JCS, Manassas and Lexington as wins against strong teams.
  11. I believe there is a separate Mr. Football kicker award. Cody Jones from JCS was a finalist last year.
  12. This link says "Tennessee Kicking Leaders" but only middle TN schools are included. How do the other schools in TN get their stats added?
  13. Josh LeNoir from Trinity needs to be considered, probably as a kicker. He has scored 120 points in 10 games. He kicks, punts, is fullback, and linebacker. Against Fayette Academy, he scored 32 points total in a 42-44 game. His longest field goals are 46 and 47 yds. He has only missed 2, and they were 48 yards, at the end of the half after playing both ways.
  14. Yep, I probably should. You guys go to Liscomb and play well! Go West Tennessee!!!
  15. 20-18 Chester County 6 minutes to go
  16. Bolivar 15 CC 14 3 minutes left 3rd quarter
  17. 3 min left in 1st quarter, tied at 8-8
  18. Congratulations, Halls! You guys played with fire and determination. You are a better team than folks have given you credit for. Good luck in the play offs. TCA, you are not hurt. Buckle down in practice and give us a long ride in the playoffs. Learn from this, and carry your experience into years of football and life. The fans are disappointed, but we have seen what you are capable of!!! Go get them!!!
  19. I live in Bolivar and am a Bolivar fan. I know the way they played against Dyersburg, and am convinced Chester County will not play well against Bolivar. I am not bitter about the TCA loss to Chester County, just proud we were competitive. Chester is improved, but in my opinion, not improved enough to beat Bolivar. I did not intend to offend, just to respond to the topic.
