  1. Congratulations to Ensworth. I say some of the highlights and things (go to commercialappeal.com and go to the sports sections, the game was the game of the week and they did a little segment on it....another crazy omen that I'll explain in a sec.) The running back from Ensworth looked good. I'm not going to hail CBHS defense as #1 in the state as the stats may have shown but from what I saw the way he got those yards was sheer talent and detemination. Hopefully they can do the same and take down BA. But the little side note I had is that in the past 5yrs CBHS is 0-3 the week after recieving the Team of the Week from Fox 13, and now 0-2 when the Commercial Appeal's Game of the Week. Just a little crazy info.
  2. It really doesn't matter how large a class is. I don't see how that has any bearing on anything, to an extent. Its the work and preparation players and coaches put and how well they can succeed in being the best within a 48 min time frame. (I would have said for 48minutes but we all know that isnt true.) I mean look at CBHS as a prime example. The 2006 senior class was 185; all boys. Of that 185 26 were football players. Of that 26 only 12-15 were major contributors. So I mean its not what the school has its what the team has. Now if you pull up arguments the team has only 40 players, and blah blah then we have somewhat of a legitimate argument. Otherwise those figures don't have any bearing on the game. And just based on word I'm hearing out of East TN, because thats where I'm located now, those who have played them say there are a good bunch. Just wish I could make it back in time to see them play.
  3. Jester 11 I dont know who you are, but fair warning, you make blanket untrue statements like this, you offend everyone who is associated with the Brothers. And to refute this point that a party is planned, CBHS has what are called "Victory Dances" every year. These dances are nothing big just a little social event on certain Friday nights. Key word in this all is VICTORY. Who in their right mind guarantees victory against BA (even the year we went to state and beat BA twice in 3weeks we never guaranteed victory against them...as I would say for any program in our division). Secondly those dances are only held TWICE (3 at the most) a year during the REGULAR SEASON against oppents whom victory is inevitable against (no offense but i.e., Ral. Egypt, Craigmont, BCS and so on). So please get your facts correct sir. trust me I've been around that coaching staff long enough to tell you, when it comes to playoffs its full surface. No more testing the waters. Its time to put up or shut up. Best if luck to both teams, however I wish the Brothers come out on top in this 1st meeting of the two. Go Brothers!! Tide Roll!!!
  4. Hahahahahahahaha this is hilarious. I would fight tooth and nail, personally, to keep all this PC, lets all be equal crap out of athletics.
  5. Man! I understand your displeasure in the way the school and the program has been in a downward spiral, but kicking them while their down, especially the players is very uncalled for. You can't blame those players just because someone put expectations on their head and they weren't able to live up to them. The PERSON who put those expectations there LEFT them and didn't show them the way to accomplish that goal. That class IS NOT the same class of players (i.e., Blanchard to CBHS and many others leaving the program or transferring). The have essentially played under 3 different coaches in a 4yr span and moved up into the toughest division of football in Tennessee. Its sort of like putting a kitten in a Tigers den. I said all of that to say, if you are a true Briarcrest fan as your name emulates, then don't rub their faces in the dirt. I can go along with the disgust and anguish that goes along with it but discretion is a key. If CBHS falls off tomorrow, I will still be a Brother's Boy until the time they get back to playing classic Brothers ball and there on after. Don't bash those players because if it was possible for them to play the game alone you would have no argument here. Anything dealing with the administration, coaching staff and overall direction, would not fair as logical evidence in your case. I am no BCS supporter, nor will I ever be, but i do understand what common courtesy and loyalty are. The only part of your statement that should have been there is "Better luck next season and keep your chins up." Go Brothers!! Tide Roll!!!
  6. Not to sound like an a-hole (the usual opinion that is raised when it is learned that I'm a CBHS graduate-sorry sidebar but that has a nice ring to it. First time using it haha) but to answer the question, Id have to say the New Orleans saints because they were actually projected to do anything and go beyond the regular season. It was my sophmore year when BCS beat CBHS. I will say something about that team and the teams I faced over the following two years. THEY ARE NO WHERE THE SAME PROGRAM. I was new to the private school scope of football so at that point I had no bias against any team. That team that I believe could have competed in D-II AAA at the time and what is now D II-AA. No offense, but the Briarcrest teams now play at the level of SYS teams. No intensity, no enthusiam, nothing. And like many have noted I would blame it on the school. They have wonderful facilities (the best state track meet ever was held there in 2005) and all the luxuries of making a great program. I hate to see it go to waste. Not exactly sure where I'm going with this point: Imagine if Melrose High School had what is now BCS' campus. Think of the endless possibilities that would come along from. Weekly sell outs, great atmosphere (it is a h-ell of a stadium to play if capitalized on). I guess I just go back to the previous point, it is a true waste of privileged luxuries. Go Brothers! Tide Roll!!!
  7. hahaha why is this even a thread....next game.....BUT HEY BROTHERS DONT LOOK PAST THEM!!! (FR homecoming 2k4 is all I have to say.) Our freshman squad has beaten their varsity for like the past 5yrs straight, lets get Gilbert some more TDs
  8. Not to take anything from Melrose's victory or open up old wounds, but like I've said time and time again about the Bridges Game, was that Melrose DID NOT dominate that game. Lets see E-Watt had about 4 fumbles, most of them being inside the 20 (and which 2 of their 3 scores came from fumbles inside the 15). With any amount of athletes they should have scored. CBHS didnt cross midfield more than 2 times if I'm remebering right. I will defend that game to the end of time, because it was not a good showing for EITHER team. Yes, CBHS still would have lost based on their play that night, but it should have been only 6-0 not 18-0. But hey thats over with. Good luck Brothers, continue the great play and do what many of us before you couldn't do. Go Brothers! Tide Roll!!!
  9. I dont know if ECS has the amount of weapons they had a year ago, but then again i dont think they need them in their system. They arent bruising, hard nose but they do get the job done. If CBHS defense can continue to stifle in the game Friday, which is going to be needed, they game can be in CBHS' hands. Both teams can put up the points, it will come down to the defenses. ECS is A LOT BETTER than past, and anyone who has played against them recently, including my 3years at CBHS, will tell you that they were never bad, just overwhelmed. And now they have the weapons to expose teams. Should be interesting as it was last year
  10. True, true. All good reasons. I especially agree with the travel. I'm only a year removed from taking those day long trips so Im still familiar with them. The one thing is that I enjoyed those trips......I just hate that you never get a true indication of who's the better team because of the drain of the trip. *Case in point....Father Ryan-CBHS series in 2006. or the CBHS-Brentwood Academy of 2003)
  11. The way the league is structured, it really screws west TN over. (Hear me out). In the east you have the powers that be (MBA, FR, McCallie, BA, Baylor) continually playing each other and fine tuning their game plans in the regular season. And also the newer teams (Ensworth, Webb, PJPII, BGA) being able to mix in with each other. While in the west they are limited to a basically 3 team system and the other 2 who are involved. There is not a true race in the entire west region. It will be predicted the 3teams will be CBHS, mus, and ecs...the only variation is placement. None of these teams are ever truly tested outside of the region games and could possibly be in for a long ride during the playoffs, whereas the east teams will have some playing knowledge of each other before playoff time comes.
  12. I went to the game. Mitchell is big up front. I was not expecting size like that at all. Eric is fine. Don't know how long he'll be out but nothing significant. He played exceptional. Especially the kickoff return to set up a near game winning drive. If he stays in, I say CBHS wins. He is a great talent. Glad to see they got the things cleaned up from early in the year and Blanchard played well. Side note: Mitchell pulled one of the classiest moves I've ever seen in football at the game. After Eric was hurt and on the table, after the game the coaches sent their entire team over to shake Eric's hand personally and wish him the best. I dont care if they were the best of friends in the world and had wonderful history before the game; those types of gestures go unforseen and unspoken of. That was a great move to congratulate a competitor in doing their craft. I take my hat off to that coaching staff and team and good luck for the rest of the season.
  13. I will be back for this game. Setting up to be a good one from what I hear. Good luck to the Bros. Go Brothers! Tide Roll!!!
  14. Briarcrest plays ECS on their senior night? Wow who ever is charge of schedule making is a bit looney and needs to be fired along with the coach...well i guess they are one in the same. Hmmm
  15. Congratulations on the commit. Hopefully it holds all the way through signing day and he has a good career there. I can say he is one slippery guy to try to block. I think they could use at safety at the U. The other lineman mentioned is Tyler Horn from that school on the corner of Park and Ridgeway....*shutters at the thought of the school* haha. Good luck to all those guys having played against most of them, I can say that their skills are worthy of the accolades.
