  1. Station Camp is starting the process of updating their soccer facilities. If anyone has pictures of their spectator side of the field, player bench areas, or anything that may be helpful--please post it here. We need some ideas to see how much money we may need. Thanks.
  2. I like it! Call TSSAA and lets get it operating by boys season.
  3. I know all the teams in Gallatin and Hendersonville host indoor tournaments during the winter as fundraisers. Do any other teams across the state do the same? We (Station Camp girls) would like to play some different competition this winter. I know TNFC and Brentwood have their indoor series, but again same competition. Please post links to your tournaments if you are having one. bisoncup
  4. Station Camp is losing 3 seniors--all starters. Erin, Maria and Donut you will be missed.
  5. I have an idea! Let's get together the posters in here that know the difference between Division 1, 2, 3, and 4 teams and assign schools to their appropriate divisions. TSSAA could then post the list and let the teams that wish to protest their assignment submit a letter requesting another division with stated reasons why. TSSAA could then give us the list and we could laugh at all the whining responses and re-assign the ones with good reason. Seriously, I guess someone would have to design a merit system. I don't think changing the multiplier is the answer--to be fair to all private school teams. In most sports, but especially soccer, it is not the number of students a shool has that makes them good. It is the program. And good programs have the foresight to play equal or better competition, so therefore I think they would choose to play in the higher divisions. There are several schools that win district and region annually because they are a division 2 team playing in a division 3/4 district/region (see SC, Madison). Then they are dismissed in sectionals by a division 1 team. I really don't see this as a private v public issue, just different levels of the programs.
  6. I was not suggesting that it was currently a "lesser" division. I was looking to the "new world" of high school soccer. Where teams pick division 1, 2 or 3--or heck maybe even 4. Then the best teams would choose division 1 and there would be no issue of public, private, scholarship, etc.
  7. Don't be sorry, puts me back on the right track. Those schools would choose to be Division 1 in the new world of high school soccer and everyone would then have to agree that they are the best.
  8. You are right. I think the Strikers 93/94 team that won the girls D2 championship last Spring could easily compete with the 93 D1 teams for the championship. I would guess that the only reason they did not compete at the D1 level is because they are a combined 93/94 team. But does that make my idea less valid? Probably! Knew I should have stayed out of it! But it is such good reading.
  9. TSSAA has got to see that each sport is different. I think we all agree that not including soccer in the "50% limit travel player" ruling was a good thing. I also think we all agree that there are huge differences in competition levels in every classification across the state. Where we disagree the most is the whole "fairness" issue. High School soccer is the only place where soccer championships are not decided by your level of play, but rather the size of your school (or perceived/adjusted size of your school according to TSSAA). I disagree with some on here that have posted there should only be one State champion, because more than one promotes a socialistic attitude that should be feared and is causing the downfall of our nation. Have they missed the point that this is a GAME, not politics? Select soccer has Division 1,2 and 3 teams that all compete each year for a state championship. I have read lots of references to select soccer, but have not seen any complaints about TSSA having three champions every year. (And for you "elitists" out there, I don't think anyone disagrees that the Division 1 winners are the best in the state.) So the way I see it, TSSAA should have three divisions (1,2, 3 would be my suggestion--lol). Each school would choose the division in which they feel they are best qualified to compete. That should end this stupid Private v Public debate since now it is the school's choice and what would and should matter is which school has the best players and coaching.
  10. Have felt like I was out of it since Station Camp lost. I think I take losses as hard as my daughter! I just don't have all the bumps and bruises.
  11. Resetting the brackets, my picks are CAK,CPA,ND, FRA in the quarters; CAK, ND in the semifinals; and CAK as repeat champs. 23 total goals

  13. Everyone is leaving out the Madison v McNairy Region 8 final.
  14. Bowling Green, KY (the Fighting Purples) has the nicest facility I have seen. Would Kentucky be considered a neutral site for all?
  15. Why is everyone hating on SC? One of those sweet White House players got carded after the game for spitting on a SC player. Hope that is not what is considered BDP!
  16. Okay, I will go first. Regional semi's: Chucky Doak, Pigeon Forge, Knox Catholic, CAK, CCS, Notre Dame, FCS, Station Camp, FRA, CPA, Spring Hill, Forrest, JCS, USJ. Regional Finals: Pigeon Forge, CAK, CCS, Station Camp, FRA, Spring Hill, JCS, Madison. Sectional round: Knox Catholic, CAK, CCS, Station Camp, FRA, CPA, JCS, USJ.
  17. Pretty weak effort, cut and paste doesn't work well here. Couldn't get the rest of the bracket to line up correctly so got mad and erased it. Someone feel free to make it better! Lots of rematches of '06 region semifinals. Only 5 new teams from last year (Boyd Buchanan, York Institute, Sycamore, Harpeth, CPA). If you know the scores from last year, could go a long way toward winning the steak dinner and $3.15 million first place prize!

  19. Because Dyersburg won easily earlier in the year (5-0) over Westview, I would put Dyersburg winner of district 14 and Westview as runner up to get the bracket going. They do not play until Monday at 6:30.
  20. Coach Thurman asked who was next in line to host (after SC) at the district meeting earlier in the year for this same reason. He was willing to "pass" it to the next school, but everyone said no, go ahead and host. Sorry for the inconvenience, I agree that it is not the ideal situation. Wish we could have started the quarter-finals last Saturday.
  21. Sorry, been a very frustrating season so far. The Gallatin game was rescheduled for October 1 by GHS, don't know why.
  22. Beech 2 - Station Camp 0 Fun watching a game where all the girls (and parents) know each other. A little physical, but overall clean game. SC started 3 seniors, 1 junior, 2 sophomores and 5 freshman. When they get a few more games in, gonna be tough.
  23. Didn't say hard, just tougher than in the past for outside the district games. Added the Cookeville tourney teams we play on the schedules page--McMinn County, Kingston, Smyrna.
  24. Station Camp will likely start 4 seniors, 1 junior, 1 sophomore, and 5 freshmen. But I still predict that they will win district and region. Friendship Christian will likely be second, Macon County third and White House fourth. This and next year's freshmen coming to Station Camp are only going to make them stronger! About 6 from each class have played club soccer for a long time and absolutely love the game. SC is playing a stronger schedule this season, which will also make them better as the season goes along. The girls finally get to play some of their long time buddies from Beech and Gallatin. Looking forward to an enjoyable season.
