  1. Let's hope that ALL fans respect the ladies on the field enough to behave properly. After all, the game is the focus and the ladies are the stars. How utterly EMBARASSING for the players to distract from the game and call attention to themselves by acting ugly. Hopefully none of the Forest or TCA fans would dishonor their team in any way. Fans opinions are a dime a dozen and are best when not shared as if they are important to the game.
  2. Watch out for Trinity this year. They are coming off a Region Championship and only lost 6 players from last years team. With the core of the team being juniors and returning 8 offensive and 7 defensive players, look for Coach Hodum's team to make some noise in the 2A playoffs.
  3. Trinity looked very sharp in the game. Their line looked very good considering they were missing a right tackle and defensive end. The backs looked good in that all but one are returning starters, Junior Mark Lawrence and Sophomore Joseph Coley both stepped up at their positions. TCA's defense also looked strong as they held McNairy out of the endzone for most of the night. The offense lead by Jabriel Washington looks to be just as strong as last years and moved the ball pretty easily against the McNairy d. Over all this was a productive scrimmage for a trinity team that has only 4 seniors, but they are backed up by about 17 juniors. Things should turn out great for the lions these year.
  4. TCAs schedule Week 1- USJ Week 2- Manassas Week 3- JCS Week 4- Middleton Week 5- Union City Week 6- Adamsville Week 7- McKenzie Week 8- Riverside Week 9- Bruceton Week 10- Scotts Hill
  5. If the Lions learned the lesson I think they learned last week we should see 100% effort with everything left on the field. I expect the same from Gleason since they are coming off of a loss too. Should be a good game and I have come to expect a close game from this team. They seem to love taunting us all with suspense until the very last.
  6. From TCA in Jackson, TN - May God give comfort and the peace that passes all understanding to the family, friends, and community. You will truly be in our hearts and our prayers.
  7. Simply amazing!! Lexington was a big mountain to climb. They definitely had the size but things were pretty well matched for speed. They played a great game and never gave anything away. The gutsy call to go for 2 in OT just didn't go their way. What gave Trinity the win was the heart that those young men have. They never give up and they never quit! And once again, they give us an exciting game right up to the very end!! WOW
  8. I am going to take the liberty of rewording your post to make it "factual" instead of opinion. Note the difference: I'm just telling you that I saw on film, with the advantage of playback that the refs did not have, with my own 2 eyes officials that, in my opinion, wanted one team to win. I'm not saying they are bought and paid for, though I am implying that, but I assume that they must have connections with the program because otherwise how could they make mistakes that seemed to give more advantage to one team. There were 3 touchdowns called back against Manassas on running plays (not passing plays as the previous poster mentioned). The flags did not come out of the pocket until the runningback was downfield 10-20 yards. In my opinion they waited until they saw the runningback getting yards before making the call because they could have thrown those flags much sooner. I saw it and believe it and will not consider any other facts or opinions. Joe There are bad calls in EVERY game because refs are human and have to make decisions based on what they think they saw without the advantage of playback. Does it affect the outcomes? Sure, sometimes. Kind of like life isn't it? We are all affected by decisions that others make, often when they don't have all the knowlege they need. Life isn't always fair and what a great lesson for kids to learn early.
  9. TCA has actually played 8 games this year. 3 were 1A teams, if you count Manassas which is really a 3A-sized team. They played 3 schools from Region 8-2A, one 3A school, and one DII-AA school.
  10. These types of comments irritate me. Why do some people believe that 1A is "down below" 3A in the quality of athlete??? Do you think there is some kind of tryout for classifications? lol I will grant you that with more students in a school there is an increased probability that there will be a star performer, or even several, in the group but that is statistical probability, not a fact. A great athlete can actually be born and/or raised in most any environment, even third world countries. It depends more on heredity, discipline, and training than it does geography or environment. I don't mean to pick on you BigRed, I just see comments like this a lot and they seem to put down people at small schools. I just felt a need to climb on my soapbox but I am done now /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> I feel better!
  11. B. In all Class 1A, 3A, 4A and 5A play-off games, in the first and second rounds the higher seeded team shall be the host school. In the third round and semifinals in odd-numbered years the top team in each bracket shall be the host team. In even-numbered years the procedure shall be rotated in the third round and semifinals. C. In the third round and semifinals of Class 1A, 3A, 4A and 5A, if two teams from the same region play each other, the higher seeded team shall be the host. The above is from tssaa.org for the third and semifinal rounds.
  12. I think its going to depend on how well they can play as a team. They have many good athletes but I didn't see much team; I saw a lot of talented individuals. Can they play for each other? If so, they could make it to the third round. Beyond that it gets a lot harder to predict.
  13. It was a great game but then TCA has given us MANY great games this season. The Sun nicknamed them the Cardiac Kids and they have lived up to that. With only the USJ and Middleton games as exceptions, the Lions have kept the game up in the air until the horn sounded. All of those games were within one TD and five of them were within 1-2 points, definite thrillers for the fans. Last night was no exception and Fayette was a tough opponent. Their QB is amazing. He hit perfectly on almost every throw. He got picked off once but it was Jabriel and no pass is safe with him on the field. It was definitely an offensive game and both teams looked really good. It literally could have gone either way but congratulations to both teams on a well played game. Way to go Lions! Last year, no one thought you guys would be able to have much success with losing so many and having so little experience left on the team but WOW. You are Region Champs!!! Its been a fantastic year and its not over yet. Keep doing what you have been doing and its going to be a fun ride!
  14. To say that Chester County is an improved team is an understatement! The first thing I noticed was their handoffs - they were so good that they fooled the TCA defense many times. They have some outstanding players in #21 and #10 - both were hard to stop. Their program is earning respect and they have a bright future. I don't normally complain about the refs because I understand that they make calls the way they see them and don't have the advantage of reviewing the plays. BUT they threw away at least 2 minutes during the Eagles last drive in the 4th quarter. The fans and TCA coaching staff finally got the ref to look at the clock running after an out of bounds and he did NOTHING!! Oh well, we can talk about the "coulda woulda" and it won't change anything. The Lions are amazing and in my eyes they are true winners. They have a TON of fight in them. In the 4th quarter it was obvious they were tired as most of them play both ways and special teams. When Austin Whitsett slam tackled the ball carrier behind the line of scrimmage you could see the team re-energize. Then Austin blocked the kick, Jake Williams scooped the ball and ran in for the TD and you just knew that they were going to fight until the end. And they did. These kids continually give us more than our $5 worth of football every week. They are incredible young men and I am proud to be a part of TCA Football 2008!!!
  15. With 3:58 to go in the first half, its USJ - 17 and Westview - 0
  16. Trinity is staying in DI unless something earthshaking happens that forces some late-breaking change of plans. I found it interesting that Manassas, that plays in 8A, has 615 students! They are basically a 3A school, under current classifications, but playing in 1A. I know the 20% growth at 2 years classification change but they had a 72% increase! The TSSAA should have another provision for classification changes when a school has a phenomenal growth like that.
  17. Halls has had a great season so far and that makes for nice momentum going into this game. Manassas probably has more athletes but less teamwork than Halls. Not having seen them play this year, I will stick my neck out and say Halls wins this one.
  18. The Lions had better come into this game expecting a battle or it could be a loooong drive back to Jackson. The Tigers of Middleton have not had a strong team in the past but this is a new year with a new coach and it seems some new enthusiasm for football in Middleton. This is not going to be a team to dismiss as in the past. Trinity can take this one if they come prepared for the unexpected and I think they will. This team expected an uphill battle from the start of the season and I don't think they are taking anyone for granted. GO LIONS!!!
  19. The best football game I have ever attended for so many reasons. First it was a great game WELL worth the price of admission; exciting from the first whistle to way past the end of the game. But it was also a great game because unlike so many of the previous TCA vs JCS matchups there were NO injuries. These two school have beat each other up every time with guys on one or both teams getting carried off the field. Last year there was a broken femur and a fractured elbow but this year the trainers didn't have to do anything but stretch a couple of cramps and enjoy the game /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> The sportsmanship on both sides of the field was awesome. It was true competition cleanly executed. My source on the field said there was comraderie along with competition between the two teams and I saw many examples of players helping the other team up off the field. I saw no dirty hits either way. And perhaps even more special, this is one time that there really wasn't a loser. Yeah, JCS took one in the L column but they had NOTHING to be ashamed of or feel bad about at all. The outcome was decided in the last second by our Lord after a gutsy decision by the TCA coaches because that play could have gone either way. Congratulations to everyone for a fantastic night of football.
  20. Bob, what I and several others took exception to was your statement that Jabriel is the reason that TCA lost. Its your opinion and you are entitled to have it but it was just an unfair statement to make. No one argued with your statement that he had a bad game and didn't perform to his potential. People here will instantly jump to the defense when someone singles out a player with an unfair and undeserved statement. We are talking about kids after all.
  21. Bob, you are way off base. Jabriel didnt have his best game its true but trying to blame the loss on him is absurd! I could list a dozen or more things that could have changed the outcome and I wouldn't have to name any names. The two TD's that were called back due to penalties would top the list. Gibson County played a good game and executed well. In the end, they were able to mount the momentum they needed to make a great run against a very tired TCA team. Size does matter. Did you notice how many TCA players never left the field the entire game? But they never gave up and fought hard right up to the end. The loss is nothing to be ashamed of; it was a very hard fought victory for GC and an exciting game start to finish.
  22. Um, go past USJ to the stop sign at Windy City, turn left and the school is about a half a mile on the left. Good luck to Gibson County.
  23. The Lions got off to a slow start while the Bruins hit the ground running. Both teams have talent and both have bright futures as their younger players gain experience. TCA never gave up and fought til the end and that shows a lot of mental toughness. It was great to see good sportsmanship on both sides of the ball with only a couple of very minor moments. The message to both teams: Keep working hard, keep the winning attitude and, perhaps more importantly, drink more WATER!!!
  24. Being realistic, these are two good teams, both with talent and both teams will have to fight for every victory in their respective regions. TCA is a very young team and since most have not played much in the past, we really don't know what they are capable of doing. USJ has more experienced players but are still in the rebuilding period as well. To argue on here about who is better is silly. This Friday night is game 1 of the season for both and we will find out who has what. May both teams play their best and without injuries and give the fans a game to enjoy.
