  1. Hank, rooting for Memphis instead of a fellow District team just makes me laugh. Your really that anti-Riverdale that you would rather see the trophy leave the mid-state. Incredible.... My daughter played 4 years soccer for Riverdale and the Riverdale - Siegel rivalry in that sport is comparable to this one in basketball, but let me tell you, as much as we hated Siegel, when our season was over we rooted for Siegel to win it all. This past season we rooted for Oakland when they made it to state. If Riverdale had made their layups they would have easily repeated, I think they missed 20 tonite. looks like Memphis wins this year Riverdale only loses one senior starter so look out again next year
  2. Hey MVM, I'm gonna miss not driving down to SD this year as my daughter has graduated. Riverdale actually lost Becca two years sgo and still made it to state without her. They lost 5 senior starters this past year including both midfielders (Hannah and Kirstin), the goalie and two forwards. This years team is very young and they probably only field 5-7 players who would play varsity anywhere else, so this year is a rebuilding year and hopefully the youngsters will improve and things will be better next year. Soddy looks strong as usual. Siegel and Oakland are the top two teams out of 7AAA this year.
  3. No rivalry this year. Riverdale lost too much to graduation, Coach Mac moved away and new coach seems to be in over her head. I wish them well, but dont see them making it past district after 4 straight years of State or sub-state appearances.

Congrats again to both Riverdale and Siegel for making the State Tournament again. I know Houston expected to blow out Riverdale, so much that before the game the Houston Coach told the Riverdale Coach to give him a signal when he'd had enough and he would put in his reserves. That signal never happened, and Riverdale was a crossbar away from taking a 4-3 lead late in the game. To the Riverdale seniors, thanks for 4 great years of exciting soccer, which included 3 trips to State and Sectionals the other year. I wish you girls all the best with your future endevours
  5. This game is just meant to be. 4th year in a row Riverdale and Soddy meet in the substate game. MVM, see ya there.

If I have my facts right, that means Lawrence Co travels to Murfreesboro to the winner of the Siegel-Riverdale game tonight while Columbia hosts the loser of that game.

Nice article in the DNJ today about last nights games. Kirstin did have a nice goal and I am a proud father, but our four girls on defense, the Dunning sisters, Cassie and Hayley, Sarah Parker, and Kaylee Bennett were outstanding in slowing down a potent Oakland offense, only allowing a couple of shots that GK Abbey Adkins had to stop. Hannah, Ashley, Soria, Emily and Erica were all solid last night in a total team effort. Thursday against Siegel for District Tournament Championship and then on to Regionals and who knows what else. I also want to say congrats to the Oakland girls, many that we are friends with, on their season. Keep your heads up, the future looks very good for your team.

Riverdale 6 LaVergne 0 Rematch with Oakland tomorrow night...
  10. Siegel 0 Riverdale 0 Field was narrowed by 5 yards on each side due to mud and standing water. Not sure if this helped or hurt either team, but the field seemed more congested. I would say Siegel controlled the ball 65-70% of the time, but did not seem to get many scoring chances. Riverdale had fewer overall chances, but did have a couple of close shots. Riverdale also should have had a PK, that the ref chose not to call. I believe the final standings for 7AAA are as follows: Siegel 4-0-1 Oakland 3-1-1 Riverdale 3-1-1 Blackman 2-2-1 Smyrna 1-4-0 LaVergne 0-5-0 District tournament first round games should be; LaVergne vs Riverdale Smyrna vs Blackman
  11. Winner takes District. Siegel should be the favorite. Riverdale has all their injured back so it should be a good game probably played on a soggy muddy field. Hope the rain holds off and nobody gets injured with the playoffs coming up.

Blackman @ Riverdale 10/13 7:30pm, late start after football game. Senior night for 5 young ladies; Abby, Cassie, Hannah, Soria, and Kirstin. One, possibly two of our walking wounded should be back for this game. This is a big game as far as district seedings go. Riverdale @ Siegel 10/15 7:00pm
  14. Riverdale 1 Germantown 0 Some games are being played

Congrats to Oakland for their win. Riverdale girls, keep your heads up, play hard and work together. I know its hard to stay positive when you've lost teammates for an extended time frame, but the seniors need to continue to show leadership, try not to be frustrated, and help the younger girls to improve the rest of the season, and hopefully your injured teammates can make it back by district tournament time and maybe things will be different.

Riverdale 7 Lavergne 0 5-0 halftime, coach McDowell emptied the bench in the second half. Nice to see all the girls gets some time on the field. Word is one of our defenders seperated her shoulder in a collision and could miss a few weeks. Hope its not that bad.

My daughter was down playing against Baylor and I couldn't get off work so I decided to go watch the Oakland-Blackman game. I stayed until halftime when the lightning delay came. Close, evenly played game for the most part. I think these two teams will be tougher than some think, but Siegel and Riverdale aren't ready to give up the top two spots in this district just yet. I also think Smyrna will give both Oakland and Blackman all they can handle. Looking at the rosters in the pressbox last night, Oakland has only two seniors and could be the team to beat next year
  19. You were told wrong. Nobody on here considers Eurosport's rankings remotely accurate in either boys' or girls' soccers. For the legitimate rankings, check here. As a sign of how messed up their rankings are, note that Catholic is ranked in A/AA. This is wrong because Catholic is in AAA. Euro is still getting things figured out since TSSAA changed some zones/classifications - that is why there are some teams in the wrong spot. I look at the rankings you referenced for a source of entertainment (reading people's whining and moaning) but know of few people who consider them "the legitimate rankings". They are one person's thoughts on a message board, period. EHSoccer, while I agree they are one persons rankings, this person MJUHB, probably spends more time than any of us would think of doing, to come up with his rankings. I hope Eurosport is putting the same effort in coming up with theirs, because in past years it hasn't been very good.
  20. Out of bounds calls are subjective if its hard to tell if the whole ball is out or not. We actually had this same scenario go against us at Ravenwood Tuesday. My gripe is having equipment (the nets) in disrepair that it is even questionable if it was a goal or not. The girls on both teams work too hard to have this be an issue.

Hey LadyBlazeDad, It would be nice if you or one of your fellow parents would go to Eurosportscoreboard.com and sign up to enter your schedule and scores for eveyone to see. Not that hard to get registered, I do it for Riverdale. Thanks
  22. Franklin 2 Riverdale 1 All scoring in the second half. Riverdale scores first on a direct kick. Franklin responds quickly. Riverdale scores a second goal that is disallowed. Ball goes through a hole in the back of the net and neither the Ref or AR see it. Confirmed as a goal by Franklin players after the game. You would think Riverdale could afford nets without holes. Franklins second goal was actually an own goal by a Riverdale defender trying to clear the ball out of the box. Final score probably should have been 2-2. Riverdale girls, keep your heads up, two tough, controversial losses to a couple of powerful Williamson County teams this week should be confidence builders for the rest of the season.
  23. RAVENWOOD 2 RIVERDALE 1 Deciding goal scored with less than two minutes left. The AR had his flag up for offsides but the center ref let it count anyway. This game got pretty chippy and the ref lost control in the 2nd half. Multiple bad calls both ways had both coaches and players yelling.
