  1. ok ok ok... 1st posting of the season... woo hoo.. no better place to start than the battle.. Both teams are way different this year and I am sure it will be a great game. However, I am hoping Coach "A" has prepared his team for all occasions and will pull this one out and start the season off right!! I know the Oakland staff has prepared their team for the warriors... but come on Warriors.. Lets START THIS SEASON OFF WITH SOME FIRE!!! GOOD LUCK TO BOTH TEAMS.. BUT CHOP EM UP WARRIORS!!
  2. Congrats Guys!! You earned these rewards!!! Jobs well done!! True WARRIORS at heart but will now carry the ball at other school but will always be remembered at RIVERDALE for the heart & leadership rolls & spirit & effort & I could go on & on... Congrats again!!!
  3. What are u surprised about?? all i stated was that if Coach A was making the change to limit the number of players that was a call i cld not agree with. yes I have tried to support Coach A & yes I will alway support the WARRIORS so is it wrong to not always agree with every decision that a coach makes? but it is apparent that there is a lack of discipline going on & that creates a lack of respect which in turn creates a lack of team work. this all goes back to the head coach no matter who it is. I do hate that the players are dropping out. I do hope that some wld give it a second thought bc some that have the potential have baled but Riverdale sure could use them back on the squad. COME ON WARRIORS STEP IT UP GET THE PLAYERS BACK & GET THE MOMENTUM BACK!!
  4. OK i tried to remain "impartial" to this thread but i can see it aint gonna happen... I can not believe that Coach A would limit the team to 60-70 players. 1st there are alot of kids that look forward to the bond that the team forms & they don't get this anywhere else to drop them off bc they can't "cut" it is not right they are looking for some guidance & its just not right.. 2nd How are you going to be able to train any rising potential players if you don't give them a chance is practice or in scrimmages?? sure having more than 120 puts an impact on the program but if you have the staff to discipline them then only the ones that REALLY want to be there for the right reasons will stay. Some good potential players have signed off for next year bc of the turmoil & lack of discipline from the staff that was not there this year so or last year.. therefore the frustration of two great football teams that had great potential to get the ball but for lack of leadership from the coaching staff hate to say it but "the ball got dropped".. 3rd If a kid wants a shot at a program give it to him!! then if he proves by is grades or inability to follow direction then you can drop him but to start off by saying we are cutting it down right off the bat is ridiculous!! 4TH what is wrong w/ keeping 100+ guys in good shape? I have been a Coach A supporter from the start but I am not supporting this!! nor am i supporting other developments he seems to be making.. BUT WARRIORS NEED TO KEEP THEIR HEADS UP!! AND PROVE THAT THEY CAN ONCE AGAIN BE A STRONG & INTIMIDATING FORCE!!!
  5. Congrats David!!! Thanks for your passion as a RIVERDALE WARRIOR now you can continue your passion as a warrior for your country /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" /> THANKS from all of us !!!!
  6. Hey..Hey...Hey.. Lets get this board back to Riverdale people Any news about changes in staff @ Riverdale or are they staying with the group in place? also how are the players coming along... rumors about some on team changing mind & maybe dropping out?? any info on that?? LETS GO WARRIORS!!! BTW (good luck Oakland .. yall are way overdue)
  7. All of the eggnog got too me ... /wacko.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="wacko.gif" /> But yeah i'm here ... trying to catch back up on whats been going on... so who is leaving to go to OHS ??? I am way out of it... dang miss a few weeks & you feel like you miss a year.. someone please catch me up. Thanks for wondering where I had been TDCman
  8. Is S.Pitts. really that much better or is McKenzie just having a bad night??? /dry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="
  9. Well finally some good news from me....the intensity has been stepped up!! the coaches are really pushing the ones they feel will be looked at for the 08 team.. Now those guys might not like it that much bc it is such a change as too what they are used to but I think it is a welcome note for those that support the WARRIORS!! To those that are being pushed look at it this way...if they were not interested in you or saw any potential they wld not care as to your progression.. Best of Luck WARRIORS!!! Lets go RIVERDALE!! Prove it can be done AGAIN!! /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  10. LOD its all nice to have the extra players to play in JV games but that where are the JV games??? they played 2 this year so where is the experience to happen?? not in practice bc they are standing around!!! not in a JV game bc there were not enough to get the playing time needed.. I do like seeing all of the players on the field sure it looks intimidating but only if they are all there for the TEAM & to be part of the TEAM!! Yes Travis did try to step it up & he did try to take on a leadership role but there was also alot of goofy off & the week b4 the WC game it was not intence practice it was relaxed & goofy around w/ some of the starters leading the pack.. Its fine to have a down time & some cut up time but dang guys this was the playoffs some one needed to step up & remind them of that & take it a little more seriously.. WC definately came more prepared & more focused. Hopefully the 08 class has learned from these last 2 playoff years & has the desire & the leadership to take it all the way. Main concern is the fact that they are players that have not had much play time so they will have to prove they really want it by stepping it up & pushing themselves more than they thought possible to get the the playoffs.
  11. Riverdale has plenty of Jrs & sophs to step up for the upcoming year...they are ready to prove that they can do it w/out the "stand outs" that got all of the attention this year.. My point about the fact that there is so many extra players is that there are so many that do "nothing".. yes there are some that are "injured" i understand that but the others that just ... watch the chearleaders instead of the game.. goof around... distract instead of support... and there are plenty of them... what is the point of keeping them on other than to show alot of players on the field?? You can still have alot of players (70-75) and not only does that cut down on the ones that are goofing off but it also shows that you will not keep those around for no reason plus it will cut down on alot of cost!! Sure its the coaches responsibility to keep these guys focused but you also need guys to step up as leaders on the team & the 07 team did not have any so lets hope the 08 team does.. GO WARRIORS!!!
  12. I guess this is one area we will just agree to disagree...why does any team need 100 + ??? there is no reason!! You can never prepare that many guys as they really need to be prepared no matter what kind of coach you are.. Make these guys earn a spot & make them work for it & make them keep it!! But there is no reason for that many kids when you have so many "just standing" and do you have any clue how many are just walking around during the games in their jerseys?? why not at least watch the game?? real commitment ... they are not there to be part of the team.. that is obvious!! also have you been to a practice??? if so then you know only the first quarter or so has the entire team participate the remainder only the starters & practice squad get to do anything the others just stand... Yeah that is really preparing the 100 + for a game.. sure put them in watch them go... There is NO WAY to play 100 + on any Friday night unless you run in a new player every down.. then what is the point of having starters or having your players that have earned a spot if you are going to throw a player in just to be sure all players get in to keep them involved. They have to earn that & most of them have not! You are right players do need to hit the field on Friday ready for their number to be called but when you have so many numbers there is no way to call all of them.
  13. Discipline...that is a word that comes to mind that did not with the 07 team that needs to come up all the time with the 08 team!! We have got to work on Discipline & get these guys focused. Sure it should be fun but hey when you have all of those guys on the side cutting up that is a distraction!! either be there to support the team & be part of the team or don't be there just to say you are part of RIVERDALE football!! The coaches need to step up & get "rid" yes I said "rid" of some of the players who are not really there to be playing but are only a distraction.. We also need to find a coach that can work & teach the players how to tackle especially on kick off returns!! 1st we need a good kick off then we have got to hold them down to w/in the 20... these teams being able to continue to run back & break tackle after tackle is crazy!! 2nd we need a coach to step up & work w/ the secondary.. 2 years in a row that the secondary has stunk!! sure they have made some good plays but you have got to be there & make "heads up" every play!! Teams figured out real quick that they could pass on us & then that would open up their running game (oh shouldn't that have been our game plan...run run run to open up a pass???) oh well good luck 08 guys... 07 you did what you could with what you had been taught.. sure some bad mistakes in the last game but we all make mistakes just learn from them!! Chop thanks for a great year on the field & on the boards... you are one class act!! Best of luck to you & all of the other seniors!! Go WARRIORS /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  14. I think the Jr's (next yrs Sr's) that did not get the playing time they would have liked bc of the great starters Riverdale had this year will step up & fill those slots. I think they are wanting to Prove that they can fill those slots maybe not in a Spurlock or Verge kind of way but in a Team & whatever it takes kind of way. These guys were hungry this year to play & did not get that chance so I sense they are already working toward preparing themselves for a great year.. Lets hope Someone steps up and takes on a leadership role & pulls them together!! lets also hope that the coaches learn as much from this year as the players that stood on the sidelines did.. Go WARRIORS!! best of LUCK!! /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  15. well..well..well... 2 years in a row that the other team has come more prepared in the playoffs than Riverdale?? The Warriors had a GREAT TEAM this year!! Great coaches...just got out coached & out played & were out prepared in the playoff game.. seemed like no one on the warriors took a leadership role and that really hurt them this year. You had a GREAT chance at going all the way... you guys were one heck of a team!! You just did not have click well Friday & WC did. They played well all over the place. Their coaches made all of the right changes. Sure there were mental mistakes made but only after you started feeling defeated...then you started letting your guards down and more mistakes kept happening & WC took full advantage of everyone yall made. I will continue to support RIVERDALE as I have been but hopefully we can learn to become better prepared in the future. As for the SR's ... You had One Heck of A Year & thanks for alot of GREAT games!!
  16. Good Luck WARRIORS!!! Remember...In order to keep the drive alive you have got to start playing as a TEAM again!! quit counting on just one or two players... get back to pound em hard RIVERDALE football & wear em down .. Play it like you really want it!! Focus!! There were mental mistakes by players that just dont do that... you have all got to pull together (those playing & those off on the sidelines) it takes all of all together to win!! Now support each other & get this TEAM back on track.. It will be a harder game so sure congrats on the win last night but everyone knows you are going to have to step it up for Wilson Central.. LETS GO WARRIORS!! GET HUNGRY FOR THAT RING!! /hungry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":hungry:" border="0" alt="hungry.gif" /> Have a good practice & best of luck /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  17. Yeah..good clips of "one player" but it takes an entire TEAM to win...thats why yall lost.. can Smyrna play together as a TEAM?? do they have an entire TEAM?? that is the question.. sure they have Sonny & Wilks but other than that what else do they have?? Cookeville has a TEAM!! This will be a GREAT game.. almost too close too call.. would love for Rutherford to have teams stay in this though so will have to pull for Smyrna even though I think they put too much pressure on just 2 players. Good luck Smyrna /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  18. ok ok... GO figure you do not coach surprise surprise /dry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=" you could not consider it either bc you have proven on here that your knowledge (or should I say lack of) is not there for you to be a coach.. Oh my gosh you played in a "big time program" /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> 1st which "big time program" 2nd did you actually play if so what position.. or were you just on the team (maybe the water boy) Your observations of the RIVERDALE coaching staff are way off and I'm sure that there are ALOT of people who would LOVE too meet you if you are "man enough" to show up (doubt it).. now back to what this board is all about.... THE GAME... The Riverdale coaching staff will definately have this TEAM prepared.. they are not taking anyone lightly.. I'm not wondering it the WC posters are not playing down their team a little bc they wld not be in the playoffs if they were not a good team.. but the WARRIORS will be ready!! GOOD LUCK /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  19. I think the WARRIORS were slightly unfocused during the LaVergne game since they were just trying to keep the streak alive...they new they already had a playoff spot so it was hard to get motivated other that the streak...I do believe that they are preparing & focusing this week for a game & not taking anything for granite.. They will be ready for anyteam.. And they will pull together again as a TEAM!! at least they never gave up that shows alot of heart!! WTG RIVERDALE !! BEST OF LUCK /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  20. Great job WARRIORS!!! 10-0 so far /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" /> & with a number of the starters not being @ 100% well we will take it... as for LaVergne great job.. you had a terrific team with alot of heart & determination.. great job by the wolves.. Now back to Riverdale we have got to focus & get into shape.. & by gosh practice on holding onto the ball.. it also seems like we have a BIG weakness on punt / kick off returns along with the secondary situation.. we have got to be able to cover the receivers better.. The D-Line can not be expected to get it done every time...sure they are good but the secondary has got to do their job & LaVergne & Smyrna both proved that passing is very possible against our secondary. Come on now .. make some changes!! And giving about an average of 10 yrds or more for each return that needs to stop as well.. Riverdale is a GREAT TEAM but they have been shooting themselves in their foot.. We have got to correct these problems b4 playoffs or we will be right back in another tight situation.. Congrats on the win!! and BEST OF LUCK in the playoffs!!
  21. Stay focused TEAM!! You & your coaches are doing GREAT!! Keep up the good work & another win will be on the board!! /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" /> Go WARRIORS!!
  22. This game is OVER!! RIVERDALE played well as a TEAM!! they really pulled it out when they had to...first time they have had to come from behind & now they know they can so that is a challenge they accomplished with the help of leadership... Smyrna well lets just say Wilks played a good game.. Congrats to him.. now lets move on to both teams next games /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  23. I am hoping Riverdale can stay focused for this one...with the Smyrna win giving the the district/region champion & homefield advantage I hope they don't take this game for lightly.. that is where Great coaching (like Coach A & staff) come into play) Go WARRIORS!! Keep up the GREAT TEAM WORK!!
  24. I would like to say that Smyrna does have one amazing player... Wilks... last night Sonny would just throw it up anywhere & he wld be there to catch it & off he wld go... he wld be a great asset to any team.. He also took off pretty good on those punt off returns.. Great job Wilks!
