  1. They did have some good players but then they had some guys who chop blocked and held ALL NIGHT! That was really frustrating to watch! We certainly don't need any injuries to heal from as a result of a cheap shot especially this late in the season. Throw the flag ref!
  2. Absolutely that's a factor in the decline of their program. They have some athletes but it's difficult to build a program when you change coaches every year or two. I sure do miss the rivalry. Me and "turtle" would be at least on page 7 by now on Fulton/AE week! I haven't seen anything from him yet! This was my sister's favorite week. Hope our starters get to play at least half a ballgame and hope it's a safe injury free game for both teams. Go Falcons!
  3. It is on the 3A/4A board...just way on down because nobody is commenting on it. Anyway, glad we can agree on something, because I dont think we agree on much else. ðŸ˜
  4. There is a thread on this...just not much action on it. The topic is Fulton vs AE and Fulton vs Farragut combined. AND scoring 80 points is NOT our goal going into the game. We would like to have a game that had some competition and that our starters could play more than half a game! I'm afraid this is going to hurt us come playoff time. Our guys aren't going to be conditioned to play a full game! I'm not even going to give a score prediction. Hoping for a safe injury free game for both teams! Fulton/AE was always a fun rivalry back in the day and we were already on page 10 on coacht by Tuesday. I would rather be going into a game with a close score prediction than a predicted blowout. It is bad for lots of reasons in the long-run. I promise...this is NOT how we want to win!
  5. Oh my word! I am so tired of this! It really hurts when the intergrity of Fulton Football is put into question! 1st of all we cant get anybody on our schedule! We play a team from KY because we were turned down by teams around here INCLUDING ALCOA AND I AM A RELIABLE SOURCE! We only had 1 scrimmage before the season started (thank you AC)! We had to scrimmage ourselves! That is ridiculous! 2nd Our coaches DO NOT stand on that sideline with the intent of embarrassing the other team!!! Their focus is where it should be....on our team! They are trying to give our starters as much playing time as possible. They are trying to let them build their stats. They are giving them an opportunity to have their name announced for a great tackle or a touchdown! They are giving them an opportunity for their picture to be in the paper or to be on the news or for Russell Mayes to say their name on WKCS 91.1! They are allowing the parents to watch these boys play! Our quarterback has waited 3 yrs to start in a highschool game! He NEEDS to throw some passes! Our receivers need the experience in a game to catch those passes! It is high school football people! The goal is for some of these boys to play at the next level and our coaches are trying to give some of them that opportunity! We threw 9 passes in Fridays game! 3 td's were on defense! No starters played in the 2nd half! Im on the sidelines every game! I hear what they are saying! I can assure you that the attitude and focus is NOT to embarrass our opponent! The attitude and focus is to give our guys as much experience and opportunity as possible! That is what a good coach does! He focuses on the best interest of his team. When you begin the game scoring hard, fast, and often, it's hard to know when to pull them out. The score gets ugly quick but these guys haven't played very long. How do you know when to pull them?! He is their coach. He should focus on their best interest! He pulled the starters at half time and some before that! He did not throw passes in the 2nd half! We ran up the middle! He played every kid on the field except the waterboys! What more do you people want?! I am proud of our coaches and the honesty and integrity of our program! Shame on anybody that questions it! The problem the last 2 weeks is that we played really good and our opponent, well, they just were no match for our talent.
  6. I am a little confused about what topic I am on... I was thinking I was on the Fulton/Covington topic but mostly I am reading about Covington/Livingston??? Also, I thought I was gonna be seeing stats and discussions about Football yet I keep seeing that #1 and #5 can run a "4.4, 4.5, 4.6, blah blah blah..." Is covington coming to Cookeville to run track or play football because there probably isnt going to be anybody there to line them all up with a stopwatch! What an athlete runs when lined up on a track does not tell the whole story on a football field. Obviously there are many other factors to determine their speed, stamina, and vision on a football field. Let me tell you what I know about this Fulton Falcon Family...We also have speed, and we have SIZE, and most of all we have HEART and we are a family! These players know how to work as a team! We have key players that do their job and do it well! These "key players" play more for the name on the front of their jersey and are taught by our superior coaching staff to know that their abilities in athletics and intelligence comes from ABOVE! They know to give glory to God before and after the game and to take care of each other as if they were brothers. We do rely on key players both offensive and defensive but we do not determine our entire game plan on 1 or 2 players and how fast they can run on a track! Our #5 is fast also but you will see him comment that he follows his blockers and relys on them to open a hole and then.....he is gone. He is fast and he has vision. i do not know what is "time" is but I do know that he ain't goin fast or far unless the rest do their job to allow him to fly! We have key starters that are seniors, juniors and several that are sophmores. They have been taught to take this season to take thier time and to take each game 1 game at a time, never to look beyond the challenge set before them, and to enjoy that victory and then move on to the next with the ultimate goal of bringing home the Gold Ball! We are now looking forward to that final goal! We,the fans, have watched this special team of coaches, players, behind the scenes support staff, and cheerleaders use their knowledge and talents to get this family to the goal they set at the beginning of this season! No, we did not have an undefeated season this year but that isn't always the most important thing to look at as we have used those losses and mistakes to learn from and build on and in my opinion this team did that well. We had a schedule that included teams that were considered below our ability, even with our ability, and even teams that some considered above our ability. Our coaches use this to teach these players to adjust to whatever the situation may be and reach above and beyond whatever is set before them. Now, with all of that being said, I do believe that you should respect the teams that you have played because those games got you to The Championship game. I welcome the opinions of the opponents that were part of the road the road to the Championship of both Fulton and Covington! I am looking forward to this game between these two great teams! And I am looking forward to the Falcons bringing home the Gold Ball to the East! Go Falcons! (KBW, I hope I said all of that to your liking because I know you would have been all over this!) It will be a little louder in Heaven on Saturday!
  7. I LOVE seeing all of the support for Coach Rob Black as the next Head Coach at FHS. The truth is...he is not necessarily being offered the position of Head Football Coach for Fulton High School. Why? You tell me!!! It was stated earlier that "he was born at Fulton High School." That is the truth. He stood on that sideline along with his Dad since he was big enough to stand! He graduated from Fulton High School All KIL in three sports. He put his heart and soul into that school as a student and player...and still does as a well respected Coach! He graduated from Carson Newman College (on scholarship) with a business degree and acquired a well paying job in finance. However, money does NOT buy happiness! With much thought and prayer, he felt strongly that his calling was actually to teach and coach at Fulton High School (just like his Dad). He left his finance job and went back to school to earn his teaching degree and CHOSE to return to his home at Fulton High School as a teacher and coach. After 18 years, he goes above and beyond what should ever be required of a teacher and coach at an inner city school. His dedication and love for those kids is bigger than life itself. I will go as far as saying many of those kids would not have graduated high school without the love and support from Coach Rob Black (as well as the rest of the coaching staff). He doesn't do it for money! He does it because he loves Fulton High School and he loves those kids! It is an extreme disappointment and slap in the face that he was NOT automatically offered the position. It is sad that he and his Dad's dedication to this school has been disrespected. Many of you know that Coach Rob Black has been offered MANY coaching positions at other schools (some for more pay). He would NOT even consider it...he is a Fulton Falcon! His blood runs maroon. His closets are FILLED with maroon attire for wear on and off the field. He drives a maroon vehicle and pays extra for a license plate to say FHS!(Am I making my point?) He played a big part as offensive coordinator to obtain championships at the State level. He was the baseball coach for several years. He currently announces all of the home basketball games and drives the team bus to away basketball games. This is not just a job to him! This school is a BIG, BIG part of his life! I am very sad that he is being disrespected after all of his complete dedication to this school. Is he still in the running for Head Coach? Yes he is, but it has been stated that he will not necessarily be offered the position. I have been told that the final decision will rest with Dr. Rysewyk. If any of you agree with me that Rob Black should be offered the postion to continue what God called him to do at "Bob Black Field" (named after his Dad), please write a letter, email, or phone call to Dr. Rysewyk, Executive Principal of FHS (rysewykj@k12tn.net) and Athletic Director Jody Wright (wrightj2@k12tn.net) and extend your support for Coach Rob Black. That coaching staff is a FAMILY and is about tradition and true love for what they do with those kids. I pray that the right decision is made for this position. There are several other schools that would love to have him. Go Falcons!
  8. I am voting now and I am posting the link on my facebook page. I agree...keep that $25 and let him spend it on something at the game! God Bless!
  9. Turtle, I doubt Photoman will be sitting in the stands...or anywhere near Pryor! I am a little worried about how injuries and possible weather are going to factor into this game! I still think we are better coached, more talent, and more disciplined than the Roadrunners! However, you can lead a player to the field...but you can't make them play! They HAVE to want it this week! Don't let me down FALCONS! I'm behind you all the way! Go FALCONS!
  10. All I can say is I hope the Falcons show up with a different attitude this week! Hopefully, we will show what we are truly capable of! It was very frustrating to watch last week. Let's Go FALCONS...you gotta want to win!
  11. I do not have to see the film, although I could if I wanted to. I saw it with my own eyes right on the 50 yd line running up the sidelines in front of our coaches and players! I'm not sure what reading level you are but I never said they "jumped up and down" on the Falcon...never said it! The most important part of the conversation is Powell came to win...and they did! Anyway...moving on! Go Falcons beat the Roadrunners!
  12. First of all maybe you are delusional or maybe you cannot comprehend what you read from my post. I gave plenty of credit to Powell. I said multiple times that they came to win. We did not play with emotion and completely quit early. I am sure you read the part that I said we have more talent and ability. You obviously quit reading at this point! I NEVER typed the word "superior" in my post. I think many others in Knoxville share my opinion or we would not have been picked to win by most, if not all, media predicting the outcome of the game! I never said Powell was not a good team. Obviously, we barely came out with a win last year and obviously lost this year. I also stated that there would be a kid here and there that will run their mouth ( that goes for any team including ours). The penalty went both ways late in the game not just against the Falcons (maybe you weren't paying attention or maybe you are in denial). However, there should have been more flags thrown for running up and down our sidelines...taunting our coaches and players with their helmets off! Of course emotions are going to run high with that type of behavior! I was only commenting on what was observed by other posters. Are the Falcons completely innocent? I never said that. I will say that our coaches would not have tolerated our players displaying that type of disrespect. However, our coaches made the right decision in immediately removing our team from the field after the game while Powell celebrated on our Falcon. (That is just plain rude and disrespectful) I feel very strongly about this and will never change my mind that we deserved respect (win or lose) to continue a tradition of reflection and prayer on our Falcon with our team, coaches, family, and fans! There have only been very few times that I can remember our team not able to end a game night with this. Maybe you need to re-read my post before you try to state something that is just not true. That IMO is delusional. I don't need you to tell me that the Falcons will go on to have a good year. We DID NOT show what we are capable of on the field Friday night! I am hoping we get it together and show our real talent, ability, and heart next week against AE. Congratulations to Powell, you deserved the win. I am sure that Powell will have a very successful year if they continue to play the way they did in Week 1! Good Luck for the rest of the year! Go Falcons!
  13. First of all, even after the game, I am confident that the Falcons have more talent and ability than the Panthers. We didn't show it in this game! It all came down to who wanted it more. Powell played with more heart and hungered for the win. The Falcons, well, they did not play to their potential and definitely did not play with Heart! Now, as far as the taunting goes, that is a learned and tolerated behavior! There is always gonna be a kid that runs his mouth. For several team members to run their mouths and even the behavior and tolerance of behavior of some (not all) of the Powell Coaches, that was disappointing to watch! That is behavior that would NEVER be tolerated from a FULTON Coach. For as long as I can remember, our team has come together to reflect on the game and pray together on The Falcon! I think that any team deserves that respect on their Home Field. It is a tradition and is important rather we win or lose. How do I know this? It was taught to me by one of the Greatest Coaches in high school football! Final thought...it came down to who wanted to win the most! The Falcons did not play to win and gave up early! The question is will we realize our mistakes and play with heart next week? Maybe we will be able to answer this questions after running a "few" hills this week! Go Falcons!
  14. I wanted to relay a prediction that "Turtle" verbally spoke to my face! That's right...I said "Turtle." He predicts the Falcons will go undefeated and will win State for a 3-peat! Not only do I STRONGLY agree with this prediction...it was music to my ears to hear him say it! hahaha Could it be that Turtle is turning into a Falcon fan?! We all know he has a little bit of an identity crisis. He went to West, wanted to go to Rule, he's a AE fan, but deep down he wishes he were a Falcon! I think he's coming around! GO FALCONS!
  15. jwc...you need to back on up! We mad MISTAKES. I am not taking anything away from your team but fumbling the ball on a punt is a "mistake." Senseless penalties are Mistakes...not the ability of your football team. Now your ability to capitlize on our mistakes should be noted. Don't get me wrong, I saw a good football team last night but we definitely made you look better. Anyway...I was sitting in the stands and I heard one Dad say and I quote, "you are missing a great game ref, you jackass!" If that offends you then you are ridiculous. I have heard much worse. The refs were awful mostly our way but probably both ways. It doesn't matter. You beat us and we did not have bad sportsmanship Coaches, players,or fans. It is one thing that I love about our program. Good Luck Red Bank.
