This just proves that you can't play '5 minutes of football' and win. Bearden you played a great 5 minutes offensively, and a great defense game in the 2nd half. Smyrna, well they played all but 5 minutes on defense, and got conservative. A lot of things could've gone different, the only call is the onsides kick that MIGHT have made a difference. I remember Shaq saying 'One lucky shot deserves another one' well if you REALLY believe that we didn't come up with the ball, watch the film and look at the QB's decision to throw to Hagar's and Rod's side..then he lucks out and they tip it and run into each other, how lucky is that? Say we get the ball their, Bearden uses the time-outs to conserve more clock that COMPLETELY changes the game. Ya'll got a lucky break, and some would say we got a lucky break. Either way Smyrna is in the 5a State Championship. Good season Bearden.

First of all, we are Smyrna High School, not perpetrating Riverdale at all, who cares what respect Riverdale has? When we play them its a new game and previous records mean nothing. And you know it yourself, Smyrna has hardly ever had problems with 'not being classy,' but whatever floats your boat. As for Sonny 'throwing his arms up like he is God' if you knew the kid you would know how great of a young man he is. How about you don't talk about or diss on kids you dont know personally? Adam, if thats you just keep up the good work man.

One more thing before I start completely ignoring your posts, if the Smyrna athletes are so unsportsmanlike, then WHY in the WORLD did they keep their composure at the Lincoln County game? WATCHING their QB get hit about 5 yards out of play, then having a player get BITTEN in a pile, and just getting cheap shotted all night. Oh did I mention that they walked off the field after winning convincingly, and did not say anything negative to the Lincoln County players? Hmm..gosh they are barbaric fiends, extremely terrible people. Gosh ignorant people must obviously be blind as well. But I forget, its not your fault because your just opinionated.

For the last time; Smyrna had to go over to Ravenwood's sideline to get the Hats for winning State. If you people weren't so naive and forgetful then maybe you'd remember. And I guess we can also just forget how un-sportsmanlike the Ravenwood faithful had been the whole game, chanting "kill kill kill" and cheering when our players were hurt. As far as the PA announcer playing that song as the game was over, um..I don't really see a problem in playing a song that says happy trails..but if you wanna be ticky tack about everything then thats fine too. Lol..Smyrna not being classy..thats the funniest thing ever, stop being sore loser and be proud for the kids at W.C. no matter what nothing can/will change the outcome of the game. This will just overshadow what a great season they had. Gosh I hate sore losers.

Can someone share with us some info on Bearden? I have no idea about them other than they have dominated on defense most of the games.

Great game, Jeremiah is proving to be the real deal at running back, crucial runs in the 2nd half. Good season Wilson Central, don't hang your heads, your one heck of a team, no one expected you to get this far in the play-offs, let alone get in the play-offs. Great team over-all, just Smyrna did the right things to win. Also you'll probably see a lot of WC fans complain about the pass interference calls. All I can say is if he had turned his head ANY of the times to look for the ball, they most likely, wouldn't have been called. But 21 is a great CB, first time I've seen anyone jump with Rod in football, other than myself of course haha. Time to focus on Bearden.

Its quite obvious that he can't be stopped on a High School level(Unless you wanna bring some of the best High School football teams in the country), even though he may not have an outstanding game in stats, he does wonders for taking the load off other WR's. Giving them Single Coverage. Some simple-minded football people may think 'Oh Rod didn't score tonight, he played bad' But in reality, he made his TEAM better because all the defense's focus was ON HIM, that means he took half of the defensive agenda making other players step up. Now based on the other games this season it has been proven that other players on Smyrna have stepped up and can hurt you (See Bryson, Hager, Martin and others). Now you look at the games that Wilks has played spectacular in, I believe Smyrna has lost 2 games he has done great in. Whats that mean? Simple, Wilks can have a great game, but as long as you play Smyrna honestly and only let HIM go off, then your set. This means kicking AWAY from him and not letting him find momentum swings where he gets his whole team into it, and then you have a pumped up team ready to make plays. Honestly, Wilson Central has all the keys to beat Smyrna. 1. A good kicker to keep it away from him. 2. A fast defense that can shut everyone out of the game BUT Rod. 3. A good offense that can keep the ball in the air and on the ground. 4. Good coaches READY to make adjustments. The problem is..can all of these things fall through in order for W.C. to win it? 1. Can the kicker keep his composure even if he makes a mistake and kicks to Rod and Rod gets a big return? 2. Can they contain everyone out-side of Rod? Or will they try to stop Rod and let the rest of Smyrna beat them? 3. Can the offense be effective vs the Bulldog's defense? 4. Coaches..well if they coach a good game, going for it on 4th down cause they are scared of the Bulldog's offense? Just little stuff. Man I can't wait..but I just think there are too many things that W.C. has to do to win it..and Smyrna has to just do one thing..be Smyrna. Play great on all sides of the ball including special teams, and just go out there and execute. I see Smyrna winning this one. 34-21 If W.C. puts more than 21 on Smyrna they played a great game, because not many teams have done it this season, they would be in company of Riverdale among others, that says a lot there. Funniest thing I heard all day, and yes I do agree #3 is probably the weakest Corner on the Smyrna High School roster. But tdntn, I forget...who is Riverdale playing this Friday night?

I don't think you could have written it up any better.. Defending 5A State Champions who have already beaten this team one vs The team that some picked to finish LAST in the region Oh, and did I mention this is a game for a berth into the State Championship SEMI-FINAL game?!?! Wow..I get goosebumps thinking about this.. Speed vs Speed..Wilson Central has proved they can stop the power running game, and battle of having to run side to side. Smyrna has proved they can stop the power run and contains the outside running game very well too. We know Wilson Central can put the ball in the air pretty good, but we know that Smyrna does it better than arguably anyone in the state. Can Wilson Central stop the passing attack? The speed of Jeremiah Bryson coming out of the back field? And can Smyrna prevent a QB or a HB from single-handling beating them? Looking at the past games..Smyrna's defense has been SO solid even with these injuries, Day, King not playing as much, and Sanders getting burnt pretty much every game. Wow, this is gonna be a great game. Personally I would have felt MUCH better about playing at Wilson Central as we are undefeated on the Road for over 2 years including play-offs. Its going to be packed even though its Thanksgiving week..some great Thanksgiving football. Like I said earlier though, I think Smyrna is just too high powered of a team, they can score from ANYWHERE, defense, special teams, and the 0bv. offense. If your gonna beat Smyrna, you have to score points on a GREAT defense or make it rain turnovers, something I don't see Wilson Central doing. Looks like Riverdale averaged about 4 yards a carry. While Wilson Central averaged about 6 a carry. Turnovers canceled out..1-1 Even in penalties. Wilson Central - 13 1st downs Riverdale - 17... Wow looking at these stats it doesn't show the score at all, looks like Riverdale just got BEAT, and bad.. Does anyone have the complete stats for this game? I kinda want to see how Wilson Central DOMINATED Riverdale in every aspect of the game. Or if Riverdale had 5 turnovers?

Both teams coming off dominating wins... Hearing players from Smyrna hoping Riverdale wins because W.C. is a tougher opponent.. This isn't good news for Smyrna... But this high powered offense of Bryson..Wilks..and Gray..not to mention all the role-playing receivers..WOW People will say how 'hot' Wilson Central is..but remember..this Smyrna defense has been amazing these past few games, forcing turnovers..the wing-t's enemy.. Its going to be a great game, but if Smyrna's defense plays like it has..and the offense is explosive like it has been..I just don't see Wilson Central winning it.. Smyrna - 35 Wilson Central - 21

Great win for the Bulldogs..nothing but pure domination. 2 winners playing each other coming off dominating wins, looks to be like a high scoring affair (Smyrna vs WC) Great season Falcons, loved the stadium but the way up there that MapQuest gave me was reallllllly boring lol.

A trip to 'The Pit'...I heard its supposed to rain? Also I heard there was a pre-season scrimmage that went on that wasn't to pretty on the Falcons side..Sonny didn't play, as well as Rod only played 2 series? Now scrimmages aren't a indicator of a play-off game out-come..but these teams have seen each other.. Smyrna rolls at the pit - 33-14 No debt for the Falcons..not enough speed, Smyrna will be too much!

Excuses are always an option as well, so lets here some more of last seasons 9-7L at the hands of Smyrna? Or why LaVergne (Who didn't make the play-offs) gave Riverdale ALL it could handle without there starting QB in the end. Riverdale should be very careful going into this game.. I believe it's going to be raining? Lots of fumbles by 2 wing-t teams..or maybe by just 1 team? Or maybe none at all lol who knows..All I can say is..Wilson Central WILL win..Riverdale is going to be tested early, I think Smyrna and LaVergne proved their defense is capable of giving up crucial points, however its going to be some-what low scoring..Riverdale rallies late, but falls short 21-17. Wilson Central's speed and Riverdale's ability to not keep hold of the ball proves the difference. Good season Riverdale, falling short again is tough but ya'll will hang around.

What about that Jeremiah kid? I heard he's pretty good....

Smyrna showed up..handled some business..and went away with the W..its nothing special. They expected to win, and it showed..now for round 2.
