  1. I will take issue with any official who does not like fan criticism. I also do not agree with the,"well why don't you just become an official yourself" stance either. It is my belief that any job that you are getting paid for, needs to be a job well done. It is the job of the official to be well versed in the rules, and to pay attention to the game at all times. Fans certainly have a right to complain about the officiating this year. Personally, I think it gets worse as the years go by.
  2. Having lived there, I would not have believed it if I was not witness to it. The QB club pretty much controls the hiring and firing of the coaching staff. Politics is not the word for it.
  3. The atmosphere is going to be great. I love Highshool football. I love the DAWGS more. Who's going to win? Obviously, Smyrna has more to lose. I'm looking forward to evaluating the offense for myself.
  4. Wow, pretty strong words for former teammates. So, who is the "trash" you are referring to?
  5. I would rather discuss Smyrna'a accomplishments, not get into a ###### contest with each other. This self ego inflating is a little obnoxious.
  6. There's no doubt that Rod is a special player, but do you think all this hub bub over just one or two players is necessary? In the end, what difference does it make? Four or five years from now, we'll all know who was right. Not to say let's all quit debating. After all what's his name beat out Peyton Manning for the Heisman. Personally, I think there are several boys on Smyrna's team, maybe not all DI, but quite capable of playing on Saturday.
  7. What's that mean? I'd tired of finding out the hard way. I'm too old.
  8. I don't think that magnet dominance is a trend. However, it seems as though this year there were several magnet programs represented. Larger school systems are starting to offer more magnet programs for students now. It seems to be a trend in education. Rutherford is now looking at a K-12 magnet program. Parents want more for their students. If academics and athletics are a good combination, I say go for it.
  9. Rodriquez did play as a freshman.
  10. Obnoxious coaches wives who cannot act like a lady.
  11. I have noticed that the fundamentals of the game are leaving us because at a younger level a lot of coaches in rec league ,etc... are more worried about teaching the kids plays and passing it to the best player rather than working on the things that really matter. What's everybody's take on it?
  12. If anyone starts a petition to bring Coach Gonyea back, it will only be because no one likes the discipline that Coach Garner has now. In so far as some wrestlers not wrestling on Saturday, Matt Martin got ringworm from an oposing team last week. He certainly did not get it from his own mats or from his own team mates, because Coach Garner makes sure all the mats are bleached everyday. Now, no one is being run off by Chris Garner, he is an excellent coach who knows the sport and will get this program running just fine. Maybe some people think they know what is going on in Smyrna when they really don't have a clue.
  13. I hate to hear that for Jordan, his family, and the wrestling team for Smyrna. He is an integral part of the team. Too bad
  14. To refer to Wilks, I have personally seen his birth certificate years ago. He is 18 as of November which would make him eligible for next year. Not that anyone will take my word for it. However, when he is eligible next year, everyone who has doubted that he is truly a man among boys as far as his talent level goes, will simply continue to be amazed.
  15. Grow some then, and confess the accusation. Quit being such a chicken, I'm assuming I know who you guys are talking about, I just someone to be man enough to admit it. I don't think anyone on this thread has the cajones to speak the truth!!!!!
  16. : How appropriate is it to chant "Kill, Kill, Kill" however context one tries to spin it? Are you going to try to come on here and act so classy as if you've never flipped a bird to anyone in your life. Come on, even my mother has done that! You people crack me up! I guess your pride has been "killed, killed, killed"
  17. Was your son chanting "Kill, Kill, Kill,"? When I take things into perspective, I'd rather have my son flip a bird to someone than threaten to kill someone. I don't think giving someone the bird is threatning. No one is going to apologize.
  18. I've been thinking, it really doesn't matter what the Ravenwood fans write about our boys. We all know them. I've known mine since I gave birth to him. Most of the football team has eaten my food and has slept in my house at one point. Whenever I moved into my new house, I just asked for help, so many of them helped us move for just a bag of Krystals. Our boys just won STATE. This is not the first time our boys have tasted victory. In middle school, they dominated in football and now the cycle is just repeating itself. These boys are special in everyway because they know how to win. They love each other. They have been through so much together. No one will ever see a football boy in the community without another football boy by his side. No comment on an anonymous forum can ever change who our boys really are and how much respect that I have for them and the community that knows and loves them has for them.
  19. Cry about it. The Raptor Nation has been dethroned. You guys got dished out a little of your own medicine. Ya'll taunted Josh Crouch and our team and when they just wanted to give you guys a little of your own medicine, you want to call us classless, I call you crybabies. It's freakin' football, we're not playing monopoly. My dad always said if you couldn't run with the big dawgs, get out of the hunt...
  20. I think someone needs to grow some kahunas and confess who is being impied here.
  21. I don't know who you are referring to, there are no 19 year Jrs. that play for Smyrna. Seems like you're just talking trash and starting rumors.
  22. The arrogance of the Ravenwood fans on this thread and in others brings home to you and your fans what you deserve. Our kids have been on here reading what has been written and if they came over and gave you guys a big "up yours", then you all deserved it as far as I'm concerned. If you guys think you have the "classiest" bunch around, then you must not live in the state of Tennessee, you live in a "state of denial". Face it, you got your butts kicked and now you're crying about it.
  23. Saturday will definitely cease all debate. (LOL)
  24. I am not trying to vie for wrestling in any way or magically link it to football. I don't its logical to deny the benefits of such a connection. Consequently, when an athlete who can succeed in wrestling and also plays football, their game will be improved, I believe, strongly. My beliefs are due to spending a large amount of time observing both sports and analyzing the benefits.
  25. I would like to point out that it is going to be a special day for Smyrna in spite of the small line up. One post mentioned the fact that Smyrna had a new coach. That is of no concern to anyone of the parents or the kids who have been associated with him at all. He knows what he is doing. He is doing a great job, and it will certainly show when he gets a full line up and the kids also get some more experience. Keep in mind that the Dawgs graduated a lot of Srs. and the bulk of experience comes from Jrs. and under. A bright day is ahead for the program and the kids involved.
