  3. She has been at Sequatchie Co. for about 10 years. She played high school ball at Maryville Heritage where she still owns a few records. She played college ball at Tennessee Tech. She worked in the bio-labs at a few hospitals before teaching. She assisted Wes Moore while he was coaching at Maryville College for two years. Wes Moore moved on to UTC and took the Lady Mocs to the NCAA tournament a few years ago. She really knows the game. Some question her style and her coaching from time to time, but I believe all coaches get questioned. She has done a good job building this program. It really helps her this year that she has a team full of talent and ability. Her first two seasons, she only had 7 or 8 players. This is her best team so far at Sequatchie Co. The 2001-2002 team won the district championship, but lost to Walker Valley in the first round of the region. She has a lot of credentials. I wish I had some of these credentials so I could coach.
  4. The Sequatchie Co. Lady Indians finished the regular season tonight with their final district victory over Bledsoe Co. 62-39. This is the first time Sequatchie Co. has ever finished undefeated in regular season district play, 16-0. Congratulations Ladies. Keep up the hard work and it will pay off!
  5. In district 6AA no one gets a bye to the first round. I think that is the fairest way, but the #8 and #9 teams have to play a play-in-game to see who gets to the next round. The play-in-game is part of the district tournament. In some districts the bottom teams can not compete with the top teams. This is a way for everyone to have a chance to make it through the tournament without just telling the bottom seed that they can not play. It is still true that the loser goes home and the winner plays on.
  6. The Tennessean has her averaging 20.1 points per games through 28 games, 563 points this season. Those numbers are impressive. They say she's the real deal.
  7. Sequatchie Co. over Whitwell tonight 85-35
  8. Sequatchie won 70-40. Everyone played except Lakyn, she is still trying to get over being sick.
  9. Sequatchie Co. defeated Chattanooga Christian Tuesday night to push their district record to 13-0. For the second game in a row, Sequatchie Co. has held their opponent to only 6 points in the first half. At the half last night, Sequatchie Co. was up 29-6. The final was 55-31. Sequatchie Co. has 3 district games left to play, at East Ridge (2/2), at Notre Dame (2/6), and at Bledsoe Co. (2/9). Unless Sequatchie Co. loose all three remaining district games, they have the #1 seed in district 6AA all tied up. This link is to the write up in the Chattanooga Times Free Press about the game. 10. Sequatchie Co. plays a real physical defense. They run a full court man press and run it well. They are only allowing 41 points a game. They also average 15 steals a game.
  11. Sequathcie Co. played Greenville the second game of the season and lost by 15. I don't know anything about Science Hill, but I do know that all you have to do is shut down Wiggins and you will win by 29. Greenville, at this time in the season, was a one dimensional team. It will not take long for someone to shut him down during tournament time. Science Hill has exposed Greenville's weak spot. If the rest of the team can not step up when Wiggins is not scoring, then Greenville will not make it far in the tournament whether it be district, region, or state.
  12. On December 30, 2006, a 2003 graduate from Soddy High School, Sgt. John Michael Sullivan, was killed by a road side bomb during his second tour in Iraq. The following day, his wife gave birth to their son. Sequatchie Co.'s Student Council which includes some basketball players, took donations for this fallen soldier's family. The money raised was presented to the family between the boys and girls varsity games on Thursday January 25,2007. Things like this show the heart of the students of Sequatchie County High School. Even though things are happening at Sequatchie Co. that are not very positive, these students and players took time out of their busy schedules to make a positive influence in someone else's life. The gratitude could be sensed in the announcer's voice as he paused several times during the presentation. Our prayers truly go out to the Sullivan Family, and to all of the soldiers that lay down their life each and every day for the liberty we stand under each day we live.

  14. Sequatchie Co. lost to Soddy Daisy 39-43 in a very physical game. Sequatchie Co. allowed themselves to be forced to play an outside game. Soddy Daisy ran a zone the whole game. They held the Lady Indians to only 39 points, their fewest point total for the season. You can not allow yourself to be forced to play someone else's game and expect to win. Sequatchie Co. likes to run the floor and score off of fast breaks and steals, but they did not play their game tonight and it showed, they lost. Muffin, who did you pick to win this game in The Big Ones?
  15. Little George is becoming a good ball player, and he takes up a lot of space in the paint. He has been working hard all season, and it is starting to pay off.
  16. Whitwell is a small single A school. They play on about the same level as Notre Dame played the other night. The school is not hard to find. Just go south on HWY 28, through Whitwell and it is on the right after the second red light.
  17. The best game to see will be the game tonight at Soddy Daisy. The whitwell game could end up the same as the notre dame game, and you can get to Soddy Daisy in about 20 minutes.
  18. Chauncey Thompson had 16 points last night, 9 less than his season average of 25.3 points per game. Chris Harr had 10 point last night, 6 less than his 16.1 per game average. George Hamilton guarded him most of the night, and did a good job. The Indians hit 8 three pointers in the game, 4 of them by Cody Boston.
  19. As far as I know Ali Long didn't play last night. Notre Dame had one girl that dressed out but she didn't warm-up or play. Last night Abbey Roe was Notre Dame's leading scorer with 11.
  20. The game Thursday is at Soddy Daisy, and it is at 5:30 cst. It should be a good game.
  21. Good Job Brooke! Thats a whole lot of points. I'm not taking anything away from Brooke, but what points are you counting? Are you just counting regular season games, or are you counting all of the pre-season games, play days and summer camps as well? The reason I ask is because I heard of some players counting every game they played while they were in high school, and that can be a lot considering the amount of play days some schools play at. Once again Good Job Brooke and I hope you have as great of a career at Lee.
  22. District 6AA Standing as of 1/24/2007 1 Sequatchie Co. 11-0 2 Chattanooga Christian 7-2 3 Grundy Co. 7-3 4 Howard 6-4 5 Bledsoe Co. 6-6 6 Notre Dame 4-5 7 East Ridge 2-8 8 Hixson 2-8 9 Marion Co. 0-10 1. Sequatchie Co. has 5 district games left and all of them are one the road. They play at Marion Co. (1/27), at Chattanooga Christian (1/30), at East Ridge (2/2), at Notre Dame (2/6), and at Bledsoe Co. (2/9). 2. Chattanooga Christian has 6 district games left. They will play host to Notre Dame (1/26), Sequatchie Co. (1/30), and Bledsoe Co. (2/2). They will play the last 3 on the road at Notre Dame (2/3), at Grundy Co. (2/6), and at Hixson (2/9). Chattanooga Christian beat Bledsoe Co. last night 53-45, but Bledsoe Co.'s Kelly Warden didn't play. Also Chattanooga Christian beat Grundy Co. at home in overtime by 11, but it will probably be a different game at Grundy Co. This game will most likely decide the who is number 2. 3. Grundy Co. also has 6 district games remaining. At Marion Co. (1/26), at Howard (1/30), Vs. Hixson (2/2), Vs. Chattanooga Christian (2/6), at Notre Dame (2/8), and at East Ridge (2/9). 4. Howard has 3 remaining district games and all of them are at home. Vs. Grundy Co. (1/30), Vs. Notre Dame (2/9), Vs. Marion Co. (2/12). Howard has only played East Ridge, Hixson, and Chattanooga Christian once this season, but these games are not listed on any of these three teams schedule. 5. Bledsoe Co. has 4 district games left. Vs. Hixson (1/26), Vs. Notre Dame (1/1), at Chattanooga Christian (2/2), and Vs. Sequatchie Co. (2/9). 6. Notre Dame, who is playing with only 8 players, has 6 district games remaining. At Chattanooga Christian (1/26), at Bledsoe Co. (2/1), Vs. Chattanooga Christian (2/3), Vs. Sequatchie Co. (2/6), Vs. Grundy Co. (2/8), and at Howard (2/9). 7. East Ridge has 3 district games left to play. Vs. Marion (1/30), Vs. Sequatchie Co. (2/2), and at Grundy Co. (2/9). 8. Hixson has 4 district games remaining. At Bledose Co. (1/26), at Grundy Co. (2/2), at Marion Co. (2/6), and Vs. Chattanooga Christian (2/9). 9. Marion Co. has 5 district games left. Vs. Grundy Co. (1/26), Vs. Sequatchie Co. (1/27), at East Ridge (1/30), Vs. Hixson (2/6), and at Howard (2/12). I think Sequatchie Co. will hold on to the top spot going in to the district. I'm not sure if the top seed gets a bye or not. I think Grundy Co. will beat Chattanooga Christian and if Chattanooga Christian losses to Bledsoe Co., that will put Grundy Co. up in the number 2 seed. With that said, Chattanooga Christian will take the number 3 seed leaving Howard in the number 4 spot.
