  1. You've got to be kidding. I'm a vols fans, but more and more I'm convinced Bray is a HS QB, with a big arm. He doesn't see the field, or read check-downs at all. He needs to shave the ego a good deal and go to work to become a good college QB. Just my humble opinion.
  2. From what appears in the roster listed on unapproved website, there are 10 seniors on the team this year. That is not that many, so did all of these players start? At which positions, etc...? I know there qb is a junior, so they'll get him back. How many positions will need to be filled, and which key players are gone?
  3. I'd think they're set to make a run to the state championship this year, barring any injury problems. How many seniors are on this team?
  4. I agree, that it's back to where it should be. It will still impact the game in many areas, but I don't believe most players have thought anything about it.
  5. kbrks - Interesting comments. I would be interested in how your think the district "stacks up" at this point in the year? If you were to predict, where do you think the teams will finish the year in the standings?
  6. Actually, it was a good game. Maplewood is very good, athletic, long and played with composure and purpose. Didn't shoot much from long range, but were deadly from mid-range and inside. I actually, liked what I saw from this years DL team. Inside, they're not very big (6'2 - 6'3), but the inside players Addison Daws and one of the new additions to the team, Tanner Johnson, are both quick, aggressive and used their bodies well. On the perimeter, they were two deep across each position, passed the ball well and applied constant pressure. If they play this way consistently, they'll be very competitive. At this point, IMO, it's probably East Lit and CPA battling for the top of the district with DL and Maplewood following in the standings. Of course, this depends on many things, i.e. injuries, how each team gels and develops, etc...
  7. To tell the truth I'm not that sure. I know some of the team well, but my son only plays football and baseball and I've not seen them play this year. I will probably go to see them play Maplewood tonight as that will be a good test.
  8. I look forward to seeing CPA's team play. (My first chance will probably be when they play Lipscomb in January.) I know they're strong and one of the favorites to win the district. However, I know the goal for CPA would have to be a state title with the team they've built. I would think in order to make a run deep into the playoffs they would need to address not having a strong inside presence. Didn't they get knocked-out last year by a physical East Lit team during the tournament?
  9. I would like to see a discussion of everyone thinks the new bats will impact the various areas of the game, and some teams more than others. For example, David Lipscomb (reigning Class AA State Champions), has always made a practice of generating runs utilizing bunting, hit-and-run, smart and agressive base running, etc.. I think DL as a team will be impacted less than some other teams, who have relied on "the long ball". Thoughts? Opinions?
  10. John Bolton from Lipscomb should be one of top arms in AA this year.
  11. I knew after seeing Greeneville lose, but play very well against Giles County two years ago they'd be tough for two more years. The difference was at the line of scrimmage, and Maplewood's lack of poise and composure. The Panthers just choked. Great year, but they fell apart in the finals. Congrats to both teams for a great season, and Greeneville for bringing home the Gold Ball. Next year the Mustangs of DL should be back in the hunt! Go Mustangs!! Mustang Fan Page
  12. Congrats to the Maplewood Panthers from Lipscomb! Leave it all on the field in Cookeville and bring back the "Gold Ball"!
  13. I believe if you follow this link to Sonny Moore's Power Ratings, you'll see that CPA's strength of schedule is rated as tougher than Milan's. Sonny Moore's Power Ratings
  14. The Lipscomb Mustangs should return to form, and be much stronger next year. This past year was the first losing season for the Mustangs since 1987 and the first year to not make the playoffs since 1992. The JV team this year won all of their games but one and should have won that game. (This game was against Father Ryan and was played without the normal starting JV QB and RB.) Also, in addition to a strong sophomore class, this years freshman class is strong and won most of their games as well. I don't know about East Lit., Whites Creek and Stratford, but with strong Maplewood, Pearl-Cohn, CPA and Lipscomb teams, the Class AA District 10 should be very strong and competitive.
  15. This game is a joke. I keep hearing clown music in the background! If I were P-C, I would try to identify a long-snapper before next year.
  16. Well the truth is you guys have had our number. However, I do remember in 2009 we had you guys beat until our defense got sloppy and those speedy running backs brought the Panthers back. We should have nailed that one down when we had the chance.
  17. Firebird80 - I understand PC has a young team. How many starters on the offense and defense are there by class?
  18. Wow Boski. Doing a little kicking DL on a down year? I was pulling for you guys, and came to the game last year when you guys failed to beat Greeneville in the semis. Anyway, I see the Maplewood taking care of business and winning this game easily. Hopefully, if you make it to Cookeville, you guys will finish the job this year.
  19. Congrats to both District 10 teams on their season so far. It's unfortunate that one district 10 team will have their season end Friday night, but that's part of it. (District 4 will have the same thing play out Friday with Alcoa and CAK.) This game will be close, and I'm not predicting a winner. It will likely come down to which team makes the least number of mistakes. Good luck to both teams. A bit off the subject, but I was curious how many players from the CPA football team are also playing varsity basketball? I know Wharton, but are there others who are looking at missing time on the court with the football team going deeper into the playoffs?
  20. I guess the question is who you think will win, not who you want to win. With that said, I agree with Howdoitknow2. I always pull for District 10, but I believe GP has the edge in this match-up. I'll say it will be a hard fought battle with GP winning 28-21. This might be the year for GP to go all the way. (Either no Alcoa, or a weaker Alcoa.) However, they'll have a tough road to get there maybe defeating CPA => Pearl-Cohn => Fairview/Milan => CAK/Alcoa. It won't be easy.
  21. As a parent/fan of another district 10 team, I would like to see PC go deep into the playoffs. To do that they'll need to focus one game-at-a-time, and not overlook anyone. Also, control your emotions, and don't let anyone provoke you. Play your game and play it hard. Good luck Firebirds!!
  22. Ok. That characterization of Howdoitknow2, and his "interests" in this game are a bit unfair. He does have Cheatham County roots, and that is the team he supports. However, I would not call him your casual high school fan or parent with a very narrow "my team only" interest. I would classify him as more of a fan and supporter of Tennessee High School football. He knows quite a few people in high school football covering many teams in middle Tennessee, and even knows a fair amount about teams in West and East Tennessee. I've never known him to malign a team who beat his team as you're accusing him of. It's a fair question. If the CPA coach did trade film, and this is untrue, then it would be fair to let him know what's being said and allow him, or so someone on his behalf could "set the record straight". Otherwise, if he chose not to trade film, which is the "normal behavior" prior to a game, then you have to wonder about his motivation. If this is part of his strategy, then why? Has CPA, been treated unfairly in a game film exchange before? There could be a number of ways this could be interpreted. If I were the coach, I would want to know this has been posted on a public forum, and also to have a change to respond (either directly, or someone else on my behalf). That's just my "two cents worth" on this subject.
  23. Howdoitknow should be able to ask the question on this board. CPA4Ever seems to cast his moral net very wide when it come to any subject involving CPA.
