  1. Go Firebirds!! (from Lipscomb). I hope you guys take care of business and bring it back to Nashville.
  2. Yep. I thought this thread would cover 10AA Basketball (all teams top to bottom). I guess not. What about Lipscomb, and some of the other teams in the district?
  3. I just went back and looked at the TSSAA site and the playoff standings. Now I see how tight it is. It's going to be a dog-fight for a 5-5 team to make it in....and that's the way it should be. It should be an interesting night to say the least.
  4. I believe the second criteria after the number of wins is the number of teams on your schedule who have won 50% of their games. If Lipscomb finishes with 5 wins, they'll have 6, or possibly 7 teams with 5 wins on their schedule. I don't see this being at the bottom for all 5 win teams in 4A. Is there something I'm missing?
  5. I haven't looked too closely at this, but think either Lipscomb or Stratford (both now 4-5 and play each other this Friday) will make it in. In other words one will be 5-5 after Friday. If I understand the criteria correctly any 5-5 team will seed ahead of any 4-6 team, but they've both been left off this list.
  6. Ladarius Vanlier from Maplewood. Not big, but has all other tools, and will burn you for sure as every team in district 10 knows.
  7. If it did happen, then I'm sure the coaches will address it. (I plan to look at the game on film, because I didn't see this during the game.) The Lipscomb coaching staff always expects the players to play to a high standard, and does not encourage dirty play or anything to injure another teams players. Hopefully, these players didn't experience any serious injury.
  8. First of all, let me say the CPA has improved a great deal, and is a very good team. However, as far as the penalties - they (CPA) got away with so many holds and blocks in the back it was ridiculous. The guys in stripes only called a small portion of these that were commited. Would it have changed the game? I don't know. DL is obviously down this year talent-wise, so it may have not changed who won. CPA also appeared to have several players hurt during the game. I don't how serious their injuries are, but injuries, or the lack thereof, always will factor into successful playoff runs. Also, I wouldn't assume CPA will beat Pearl-Cohn. Next week should be a very good game between these teams with a great deal on the line. If Pearl-Cohn wins, it looks like they'll share the District Champion with Maplewood and will hold the tiebreaker and the top seed. If CPA wins, then they'll share in the District Championship, but Maplewood will hold the tiebreaker and the top seed.
  9. Whoa! No respect at all for the Mustangs huh?
  10. Why because GP might win this time they meet? Here's few things to think on. First of all, CPA played a weak schedule early. Yes, they played and beat Goodpasture early. However, GP really had some problems early especially on defense. Secondly, Wharton was a surprise GP probably had no idea about prior to the game. CPA is now facing "the meat" of the Class AA District 10 schedule and will be tested against DL and Pearl-Cohn the following week. It should be interesting to see how things play out over the next few weeks in district 10.
  11. Well it could be worse. After winning the state championship last year, Lipscomb will not have a single senior on the team this year. They only had two juniors last year, with one starting at times, but injured late in the year. The other had not cracked the varsity roster. This year, I hear both have left the team. Oh well, they'll have a strong bunch of juniors and some good sophomores, and there's also a good freshman class on the way.
  12. Is there a Championship game, or are you just saying that the JV team beat everyone on their schedule? (Who did they beat?) I'm sure they still have some good talent on the way, but these are two differeent things. Secondly, the open enrollment thing needs to be addressed by the TSSAA. It doesn't matter only 5 or 8 students took advantage of the program. The point is A. The size of the net was bigger, i.e. the program was available to a larger population of students, so they should be included in the total enrollment and used for calculating TSSAA Classification. and B. All of the good football talent, who intend to play will take advantage of the program, unless they hate the program or the coaches. Otherwise, they probably be trying to find another school with a program they liked.
  13. wingman10 = Karl (from the movie Slingblade) (You know a man of few words, such as "I like mustard on them their biscuits".)
  14. That is the $30,000 question. Depends on which DL team shows up. They've had many injuries to deal with, but a few areas of the team have just underperformed. PC is talented and in control of the district and their own destiny. I'm sure PC is expecting to "boat race" DL. As a DL parent and fan, I hope the fish sandwhich is not the best thing about the game this Friday!
  15. Well I'm surprised there's not already been a thread for this game. Pearl-Cohn just knocked Maplewood off of their perch, and CPA is undefeated and making noise in the district. Is CPA really that good? How will Maplewood respond to the loss last week to PC?
  16. The Mustangs played a very good game last night. They should continue to get stronger as we approach the playoffs. PC had a nice victory over Maplewood last night, but what happened with CPA and East Lit? I would have thought CPA could win that game easily.
  17. I was surprised to see CPA (Ranked #2 in most Class 3A Polls), only beat East Literature 14 to 7 last night. I would have thought they could put away East Lit, much easier, and by several touchdowns. What happened?
  18. Are there any sophomores starting this year?
  19. I'm a bit surprised that you have CPA as #4. I know they're much improved, but have played a somewhat light schedule to-date. In contrast, Pearl-Cohn is not on your list, and they have played a tougher schedule and appear to be strong this year. (Mind you, I've not seen either play this season.) In Sonny Moore's Power Ratings he has PC ahead of CPA as well.
  20. Yes it's the same East Lit. team, and they were nothing special when we played them. However, I was responding based on your statement - "I can see the Mustangs not winning a district game this season." Did you mean to say - winning ANOTHER district game? I was merely pointing out they had already won one district game.
  21. Really? Well first off the Mustangs have already easily defeated East Lit., and they're a district opponent. Secondly, the Mustangs were driving, and had a chance to beat Camden until the final few minutes, and Cammden is a good team. Granted, the Mustangs are down some this year, but they're probably better than they've played against Overton and Maplewood. (I would hope.) The Mustangs have some good players on the way, especially in the sophomore and freshman classes. I'm not the coach, but maybe some players should sit and just start developing some younger players for next year. I know CPA's current coaching staff are probably getting all of the credit, but the CPA coach from last year played a bunch of young players, and this year they been pretty good. Just a thought.
  22. To be honest East Lit was so sloppy on execution they looked like they had just drawn the play up in the dirt before running it. Sad to say, because they obviously have some good athletes on their team.
