  3. The team from Chattanooga? That would be CSAS. The only team to return back to the state. Lost to CA in the state semis last year in a game in which they won every statistical way except the score board (missed wide open shots)All year they were looking forward to a rematch but I'm sure they appreciate what Perry County did. Anyway, they return 7 seniors. Very quick. Very atheletic. Defensive oriented team. Can play multiple styles. High basketball IQ and well prepared. Played and was very successful against a heavy AA schedule this year. That being said, it all comes down to matchups and how high school kids will perform under the bright lights. I haven't seen the rest of the field but from reading these boards, seems like this may be the most competitive tournament in a while. I'm looking forward to how the teams draw this weekend and and the March madness!
  4. It's almost game time! I think they ARE the #1 single A team in the state and it's now time to go prove it. I think this will be a hard fought game but I think CSAS pulls this one out by 10. Expierience, too deep and too many weapons. Good luck CSAS!
  5. Valid Question. What are some of CSAS's weaknesses that can be exploited? On paper they look very strong but I would be interested in knowing what to look for from Van Buran when I go to the game tonight. I'm looking forward to a great match up tonight against two good teams.
  6. There's always a chance. That's why you play the game...
  7. Really, do most people believe that CSAS recruits? Which kid or kids would be the questionable recruit? It's my understanding that CSAS has 7 seniors and all have been there 3+ years. I read in the paper that they have not lost a district game in over 6 years! That tells me that Coach Dragoo does a great job at teaching the game and that his teams are consistently prepared. I would think that the insuation that Coach Dragoo cheats absent any evidence to the contrary would be highly offensive to the program that he's established and the hard work that he and his staff put in. Good luck CSAS against Van Buran tuesday night. I'm looking forward to seeing some good basketball between two good teams!
  8. Who is Will Amos? What team does he play for?
  9. I'm saying it...This year, CSAS IS better than howard. Moose is doing a great job getting his guys to play well at the right time but overall CSAS has the edge this year in expierence, depth, consistancy, and overall basketball skill and IQ. Despite being a small single A team, they have played an AA schedule. I saw the game at Howard and if CSAS had hit the wide open shots it normally hits (http://chattanoogan.com/articles/article_192893.asp) it would not have been close. Tyner has struggled lately (don't know why) losing to Howard, (East Ridge!?)Red Bank and McCallie so while beating a Tyner and Red Bank are good district wins for a young Howard team it does not prove they are the better team. In my opinion, Howard would have to win the district tournament to prove they are the #2 team in the city.
  10. Who are the nominees for player of the year overall and by classification in the Chattanooga area? My nominees: A - Sharifff Cobb (CSAS) AA - Nick Ross (Red Bank) AAA - ? DII - ?
  11. I agree, Clarksville Academy is the favorite to win the State again but they have yet to be tested throughout the season and I think that just sets a high school team up for a major fall when you're that good and you have a weak schedule. Some of the teams that have a legit shot at beating them are Humbolt, CSAS, and Forrest.
  12. Everyone is entitled to their opinion but numbers don't lie. CSAS has beat Howard, McCallie, blew out Hixson and Brainerd has two of the better guards in the city, plays 12 legit, and has actively scheduled the "best" teams in the city and beat them....and they are 18 - 4. Their only losses are to Tyner in over - time, Hixson with two of their starters hurt and out, at E. Literature (Nashville)and at Howard in the first game back from injury of several of their starters... also CSAS can play multiple styles. If they have not proven that when healthy, they are one of the best teams in the city, then who has? My new rankings at this point in the season (My final rankings will be determined after the region tournaments): 1. CSAS 2. Red Bank 3. Howard 4. Tyner 5. McCallie
  13. My current top 5 in the city: 1. Tyner 2. CSAS 3. Red Bank 4. Howard 5. McCallie
  14. Just because everyone in Chattanooga is beating each other doesn't mean that there are no solid teams in the area. It just means that there is some parity and that these kids enjoy playing with pride as they did in the past. Red Bank, Tyner, Howard are all state calibur teams and will have their chance to prove themselves but CSAS has the inside tract and the advantage because they don't have to be good enough to win the "city championship" (which they are)just good enough to make it and WIN the STATE in Single A (which they can).
