  1. In my opinion, White beat Fuller simply because he was a better raw athlete. Fuller is a far better wrestler but White is just a beast, especially at 152. That's not meant as an insult to either kids respective talents, just my breakdown of that match.
  2. Results are now online at mat control. http://www.fiscusconsulting.com/WR0809/McG...mcgvar08brk.htm
  3. are you sure about that? I didnt think Croy played football.
  4. We are going ahead and setting up in the morning with the assumption that the tournament will be okayed. The school administration has to make the call, but with the temperature forcasted to be in the high 40s and the roads around Nashville being clear right now, everything should be ok. A couple of the schools that are located a few hours away such as Heritage and Forrest for example, may not make it, but that is based off of what that particular school systems administration says.
  5. We still need varsity rosters from: FRA Mt. Juliet MLK Lighthouse Christian Sycamore And also need JV rosters from: Forrest FRA Mt. Juliet Hume Fogg Hunters Lane MLK TSB Lighthouse Christian Sycamore Whitehouse You have to get in contact with Ellie Chason. Email her at ellie.chason@comcast.net. Pretty simple. She has to give you login information so you can enter your roster here. http://student.cusd15.k12.il.us/wrestle/ She has no information on the above schools. She as emailed us and is threatening to drop them from the tournament. Please get in touch with her ASAP.
  6. Chris Soboun. He placed 3rd at state last year.
  7. One problem with making the state duals single elimination is you'll have some teams that aren't exactly down the road, say, Memphis, driving close to 4 hours, only to possibly wrestle one match, lose, and be done. That's alot of gas money for just one match.
  8. Since it's a preseason deal, are singlets required, or can the kids wear shorts & an underarmor type shirt?
  9. Thomas Holman is not wrestling for McGavock. He has chosen to pursue other interests.
  10. Last I heard Kerry Dowell of Hunters Lane was wrestling at Cumberland. Also, MTSU has a wrestling club with more than a few notable TN high school alumni.
  11. It makes perfect sense to hold it in the pyramid. That's why it wont happen. Certain people are convinced that if the state tournament took place somewhere else, it would be a disaster. I wish the state finals would rotate each year. Chatt, Memphis, Knoxville, Middle TN (Nashville or Murf). The Municiple Auditorium in Nashville is another place that would be perfect for finals. It's got plenty of room, there are dozens of hotels around, places to eat. Same with Memphis. That's a huge city with plenty of hotels and resteraunts nearby. I'm not familiar with Knoxville but I'm sure a case can be made for it too. Chattanooga is not the only city capable of hosting the tournament.
  12. Coach McTorry is an outstanding coach and from the few times I've talked with him at tournaments he's also a great person who really enjoys coaching and takes a personal interest in all his kids, regardless of whether they are Daniel White or a backup JV kid. Ensworth is lucky to have him.
  13. Figure I'll throw this in here for fun. I have no idea if he's gonna wrestle this year or not, but if he does, Thomas Holman will be a threat regardless of what weight class.
  14. I think 'officially' Shawn Garrett of East Lit did not place 6th at state. He was disqualified from the tournament and there was no 6th place medalist at 140. But I'm not 100% positive on that.
  15. I'll play 7th grade wrestled wherever. Started the season weighing 117 and ended weighing 145. That's what I call a growth spurt. 9th- 189 or 200 for freshmen matches. We had a 200 weight class if it was strictly freshmen. I think. 10th - 12th 215. weighing 215. 10th grade I was a little lighter at around 200. Cut to 189 for a few matches. 11th & 12th there was no way I could make 189. I only missed weight once. 218. It was a tournament so I just jumped rope for 30 minutes in sweats and made it. No college wrestling, but I've wrestled in some open tournament weighing anywhere between 199 and 220 depending on my appetite. /tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" /> I'm now a solid 210-215. More muscle and less baby fat that my HS 215. 25 years old so that should be expected. Getting into MMA so I might compete at 185 since most weighins are the day before.
  16. Are weight classes going to be strictly enforced or are guys going to be grouped up by whoever is close. I've got a few that want to enter but dont wanna pay the 25 bucks for just one match. They're between 140 & 170 depending on how lazy they've been here lately.
  17. May 31 at Blackman HS in Murfreesboro. Any updates?
  18. Welcome to Tennessee Coach. Bolton always has a solid crew with a couple of hosses on the team each year. You're walking into a fine program there. What happened to the old coach if you don't mind me asking? I can't think of his name at the moment.
  19. I'd be interested in it if a few other guys showed up. I'm around 215lbs right now but I'll see if I can't lower that number a little bit.
  20. Looking forward to this. I've got a few of my guys going, and I plan on entering the open at around 205lbs. Should be a good tournament.
  21. What will the weight classes be for the open division?
  22. Anthony Pierce wrestled 189 for McGavock. He graduated in '05. He's at MTSU now. I think Shingler went to Montgomery Central.
  23. I'd like to add that the 215 EL got jobbed. There was a flurry that went out of bounds late in the match and his opponent shoved him I think. They were probably both shoving. Either way, the guy swung at EL and kinda caught him with an open palm. EL responded with some choice words and got hit with a technical violation or unsportsmanlike. Not sure. But he had locked hands and done something else so it was his 4th TV, which led to the dq.
  24. I'm not positive, but I don't think they are.
