  1. Pujo, which linemen did they lose? They had a couple HUGE guys on that team last year that just knocked Coalfield's block off. I know that Irick and Jaynes are back and I thought they were better than Townsend in the prototypical RB sense. Townsend was quick in limited action against Coalfield, but Jaynes and Irick really did the damage in that game. But that's another topic entirely... back to Midway, like I said, I'd hate to call a winner in that one but I think with it being at Hampton, the Bulldogs may have a slight edge because I remember the four hour bus ride there two years ago and it was COLD!!! /roflolk.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflolk:" border="0" alt="roflolk.gif" />
  2. I have a question though for Goose and KingBrian on an unrelated matter... As the SORSN website pointed out, if Midway beats Sunbright and Wartburg... does that make them the Morgan County Champions even though they're a Roane County school? /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
  3. If, hypothetically, Midway and Hampton played in the third round, it would be a very tough call on who'd win that game. I know Hampton really only lost Townsend and, I think, Oliver from last year's team and I think that line might give Midway some problems. That said, Midway has a pretty stout offense with Robinson, Davidson, Stansbury, and Poe. That's probably the best foursome I've seen in years in that region. I would hate to pick a winner in that game because they're both pretty evenly matched. Both teams by no means would have an easy road to the 3rd Round. Midway would potentially have to play Harriman again and that's not a team to take lightly and Hampton and Oneida could go for round two and the Indians played them hard. So we shall see but if it happens, I might have to take the three or four hour drive to Hampton just to see that game.
  4. OS faithful, please forgive me for this, but with all the injury problems with OS I think Loudon should win this game. If the OS team that played Kingston and Rockwood tough shows up, it might be an interesting game for a while, but regardless I'm saying Loudon will take this one.
  5. I'm gonna try and take a stab at this... 1.) Hampton- I can't find any reason why they SHOULDN'T win the region. 2.) Cloudland- I think they'll get through everyone save for Hampton and get a home game against either Harriman or Oneida. Now here's where things get kind of screwy... 3.) Unaka- Will probably be in a three way tie with Grace and Cosby for this spot but might get third based on overall record. (If I'm wrong, someone please clarify for me.) 4.) Grace Christian Academy- With second best overall record in the three way tie, they go to the post-season for the second season in a row but it appears a trip to "The Emerald Forest" is in their future. 5.) Cosby- Will be the odd team out due to too many losses in all likelihood. 6.) Jellico- MUCH improved over last season, but not quite enough to break back into post-season play. (NOTE: I thought Hancock County was in this region?)
  6. Tough call in this one. You've got a very quick offense in Harriman that can tack on rushing yards like an odometer and possibly the best defense in ALL of East TN in Oneida in what should make for a very interesting match. But both teams have their flaws. Oneida's offense has been inconsistent this year and Harriman's defense gives up too many yards at times as experienced in the Sunbright game, giving up 310 total yards to the Tigers. This is almost too close to call but I think Oneida takes this one by one point in a relatively low-scoring affair.
  7. Dang. I was really hoping RBS would pull it out. Those kids work so hard and I can't imagine how those players or the parents feel getting beat like this week after week. Hopefully they get one soon and I hope the goalposts come down when that happens. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  8. Yeah, I didn't think y'all trashed any locker rooms. I've been going with Midway as my pick all week and I'm sticking to my guns on this one. Should be one whale of a game over in the "Emerald Forest". /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  9. Can't fault them for the community pride. Personally, I see nothing wrong with the "SOR" chant. Never heard of Midway trashing Oneida's locker rooms, though. I didn't go to Midway, but I have a boatload of respect for the program and their community pride is second to none. I just hope this game lives up to the hype.
  10. I'm still sticking with my original prediction based on this fact: Oneida's defense will keep them in this game but they have NO offense and they're going to need offensive production to beat Midway and the way Midway has played this year, they're gonna be a hard team to beat. Don't even discount farm kids because those are some of the toughest kids you'll ever see. As for the individual who said Oneida had the "toughest schedule", umm, you're bragging about Coalfield, Oakdale, and a weak Kentucky 4a team being tough? Midway's schedule measures up pretty well compared to Oneida. Allow me to systematically break this down for you. Midway's season... Vs. Claiborne Co. (3A) Won 27-14, could have been a bigger blowout than that. Vs. Rockwood (2a) Lost 42-20, the lone blemish on the record and one could use this as a comparison but the difference is Rockwood has an offense while Oneida, well, it's yet to be seen. Vs. Oakdale Won 56-16. This was 56-0 early in the 3rd quarter. Vs. Coalfield Won 43-21. This was 43-7 before the reserves came in. Vs. Sequatchie Co. (2A) Won 48-3. Very impressive performance. Now we'll break down Oneida's season... Vs. Rockwood Lost 7-6 Vs. Hampton Lost 7-6 Vs. Coalfield Won 20-13 Vs. Oakdale Won 41-0 Vs. Cumberland Gap Lost 30-17 Vs. McCreary Co. (KY) Won (I forget the score.) I'll give Oneida this... a couple more points and they could be 5-1 right now. BUT if not for a fumble in the Coalfield game returned for a touchdown, you would be 2-4. This is a great defensive team, but here's the problem... the offense has only scored at will against Oakdale, which I'm sorry to say this, isn't saying much. Simply put, Midway is on a roll right now and I cannot find one good reason to pick against the Green Waves in this one. I think this will be an interesting contrast of styles, but Oneida's inconsistent offense makes me lean toward Midway in this one. Nothing personal to Oneida fans, but I just can't bring myself to pick you all to win this game.
  11. Goose, you gonna be at the Midway/Oneida game? Looks like, in the words of a famous WWE commentator from Oklahoma, it's gonna be a "slobber-knocker", folks.
  12. Harriman just shot themselves in the foot with dumb penalties and six turnovers didn't exactly help matters. If they're gonna be a region threat, they are going to HAVE to play better than that because Oneida and Midway are very similar to Rockwood. Rockwood deserves a lot of credit though, they held Harriman's ground attack to 76 yards and they mixed things up with practical ease. Rockwood's got a tough test next week against Loudon that will lock one team in the post-season and leave one team potentially on the outside looking in. Harriman should rebound next week against a down Sunbright team.
  13. Should be an interesting contrast of styles here. Oneida has a defense that can play with anyone but they just don't have an offense. Stopping Midway is going to be VERY tricky. It's not ONE back you have to worry about, it's FOUR backs. Davidson and Robinson are game-breakers in the backfield, Stansbury is a better QB for Midway's system than Lyle was last season, and Poe is one of the quickest kids I've seen in a while. Plus Midway's D doesn't get the credit they deserve. They've had pretty impressive showings all year and have beaten 3A and 2A teams. I think Midway's got too many skill position players for Oneida to contain and I'm gonna say Midway wins 27-14. This COULD be a team going very deep come playoff time.
  14. The problem with putting Noah at QB is if they do that, their passing game is in trouble because outside of Noah, they don't really have any game-breaking wide-outs. I'd put Hicks in at QB, personally.
  15. I can tell you as a pretty much certainty that Coach Moser probably would never leave Midway seeing how he was born and bred there.
  16. OS has been playing a lot better in the last two weeks and hopefully it carries over to the Kingston game. But realistically, I think Kingston will probably spoil homecoming for the Bobcat faithful.
  17. It won't be a slaughter by any means, but Coalfield wins by 15. I'm thinking around the 35-20 area. If Coalfield can win out, they still have a shot at second in the region. It'll take some help from Harriman beating Oneida and Coalfield will have to beat Harriman but if it goes on overall record, Coalfield COULD hold the tie-breaker. So all's not lost at Coalfield by a longshot.
  18. Harriman will probably make it close for at least a half, but I just think Rockwood is a little more physical than Harriman and the Blue Devils haven't really faced anyone as physical and aggressive as Rockwood so it'll be interesting to see how they handle it, but I'm thinking Rockwood by 13. Could be closer than that though with Allen possibly out.
  19. Ok, I've heard enough of this bull from people trying to kick Coalfield while they're down. It's not the coaches fault in any way whatsoever. They bust their tails to try and get these kids fired up but you can only do so much if you've got 40 or so Terrell Owens clones on your team attitude wise. Coalfield's biggest problem is the attitudes of the PLAYERS, NOT the coaches. I have all the respect in the world for Coach Kries and his staff and am pulling for them to turn it around. People complaining about Coach Kries "not being there" don't know the situation. I will not divulge into it here, but he's been having a rough time dealing with things that are (GASP) more important than football. If you were going through what he's had to go through, football would be a LOT less important to you too. Also, to the parents whining about their kid not getting any playing time, shut up. There is probably a good logical reason your kid is not getting the ball or getting to play. Could it be that little so-and-so isn't good enough to play? PERISH THE THOUGHT! Those kids have to make EFFORT to earn playing time, not get it just because of who Mommy and Daddy is in the community. So all the people trying tear the program apart can either shut up or take their ball and go home. Now if you all want to rip me apart, that's fine, but what I'm saying is the honest-to-God truth.
  20. I think they need some counseling, hahaha. Seriously though, good job by the Tigers but hats off to the 'Cats as well. From what it sounds like you played hard all night which is all anybody can ask.
  21. My predictions on how things will shake out. 1. Midway- Best crop of skill position players South Of the River in quite some time will make Midway very hard to beat. 2. Oneida- Best defense by far in the region, but the offense will keep them from winning the region. 3. Harriman- Good crop of running backs and a good defense, but lack of passing game is a concern. Could potentially be a #2 seed when all is said and done. 4. Coalfield- It's not going to be pretty and it's definitely NOT a lock, but Coalfield will manage to make the playoffs only to get bounced in the first round. 5. Greenback- Has an offense that can compete with anybody in the region, but the rush defense could be this team's kryptonite keeping them out of the playoffs. 6. Sunbright- Won't be in the playoffs but could avoid the cellar. 7. Oakdale- Will finish in the cellar again, but Coach Strickland has the program moving in the right direction.
  22. OS didn't have 250 rushing yards in the second half. They only had around 169 for the entire game with Curtis Davis being the workhorse with a 107 yard and two touchdown performance. OS showed a lot of guts and determination last night and definitely earned a hard-fought "W".
  23. I don't think we're gonna see a whole lot of passing tonight given the conditions, plus Coalfield has NO passing game to begin with. Could be an interesting game and I think OS is gonna be out for blood after last year so toss the predictions out the window because this one could go either way. For once, I'm not gonna make a prediction because it's too close to call.
  24. Yeah, neither of them have exactly had the best starts to a season. Coalfield is for one of the rare times in the rivalry, the favorite, BUT they better not take OS lightly because those kids are gonna be amped up more than usual for this game.
