  1. He got a coaching job in Alabama, which is where he is from. He went back to be nearer to his family. He is a good guy. I know he still keeps up with PC, he posts on coach t occasionally.
  2. I agree. And we do have good people from the community who work hard. Most of the chain gang do not have kids in school; our announcer doesn't have kids in school; some of our helpers in the concession stand do not have kids that play football. As a matter of fact, seems like we get more help from non-football parents than we do from football parents.
  3. They moved to Selmer. Neal will be playing at McNairy Central his senior year. I think he said they were a 4A school? We will miss him. Wish him the best of luck at McNairy. I don't know who he's talking about, I assume one of them is Dray Mercer. He's the fastest kid I know.
  4. You are right knowledge man. We do not have enough talent to draw from for each kid to only play one sport. If we had 1000 or 2000 students in the school, it might be a different story. Right now, there are only 4 playing baseball that also played football, 2 or 3 playing baseball that play basketball, and I think there was only 1 who played football and basketball both. As far as I know, none are playing all 3. For a county the size of ours, that is ridiculous. I don't think Dunkle would discourage the baseball players from playing other sports, and I know Coach Bradley would never do that. I have heard from a couple of parents that the basketball coach is doing that. Fact is, unless you are 7 feet tall or a Kirk Haston or a Mike Rhodes, you are not likely to get a basketball scholarship. Baseball? Don't think the odds of getting a baseball scholarship are very good either. You are a lot more likely to attract attention playing football, and that is a fact!
  5. I think Chris Graham is a senior now, but you'e right. He would have been a big plus on the football team. He is huge!
  6. How many football players or how many baseball players in general? As far as football players, Cole & Forrest Boutwell are the only 2 returning football players that will be playing baseball this spring. Watkins & Hoffman play, but they are seniors so spring training won't involve them anyway. There may be some more on the baseball team who didn't play football last year, but will this year. I hope so, anyway! As for Courtney, as of right now he is not coaching, but we have not given up hope. There are also Coaches Hamilton and Dunkle, but Dunkle knows a lot more about baseball than he does football, he will be the first to tell you that. I think Coach Hamilton is coaching middle school baseball this year, and probably middle school football too, so he will be pretty busy. The high school is pretty much up to Coach Bradley and, hopefully, Coach Courtney. We need him badly.
  7. I'm not a man, but my son would kill me if I even thought about getting his helmet airbrushed!
  8. Absolutely! Someone has to get the kids to practices and summer workouts at 7am, buy the athletic equipment not provided by the team, pay for camp, etc. Some kids might be a good athlete, but unmotivated. These kids need a little push from the parents. And of course, without the parents who [/u]really care (i.e., booster club, concession stand workers, etc.) there wouldn't even be any athletics.
  9. Thanks for the info. Sure seemed like a lot more than that!
  10. How many students does MP have, and how many on football team? When we went to MP to play, seemed like there were more kids on the football field than we have in the whole school!
  11. I agree with that statement. Having a successful team certainly does make kids want to play that may not have been interested before. As a matter of fact, there are several at PC who are going to play in '07 that did not play in '06. Even though we didn't have what most people would call a "successful season", we gave every opponent a good game (except for Mt Pleasant, of course). That, in relation to PC teams of the past, was a successful season.
  12. Maybe in the bigger cities that have more than one high school. It would be impossible in PC.
  13. We don't need any new coaches. As long as we have Coach Bradley & Coach Courtney, we will be in great shape!
  14. Not really sure yet. Cole is going to play baseball, but he will be out for a few weeks due to breaking his thumb and having pins put in it. Coach Bradley probably has it all planned out already, but I haven't been told yet.
