While in most cases a coach does a good job and parents have no room to complain...i have seen situations in which coaches and parents are to blame when the coach plays the kid because of who momma and daddy are in the community and not based on athletic ability and what is best for the team. The best athletes dont get to play...just the ones whose parents are "big wigs"...I have always hated the parental "politics" in the school systems...it is quite unfortunate for the players who dont get a chance...

I have heard several people say that. I have been around and watched games called by either association, and from what I have seen...Tri-cities officials do a good job as well they just let the teams play more physical than some other associations...

Someone always has something bad to say about the refs...greene county fans are historically the worst...and its funny how you say that when we hear considerably less from the rest of the schools in the association... To answer your question...GHS uses the Smokey Mountain Association The county schools use Tri-Cities

South Greene is having a down season, but as I recall they did beat CD once already this season...and if my prediction is right....they will beat you again this Saturday...Dont get your hopes up for a split this year cause it probly wont happen...good luck tho

I am from Greeneville...Im not a GHS fan I am a basketball in general fan, but it is always nice to see my alma matter do well. I agree...I had high expectations going into the Science Hill and GHS game, but it happened just as several people on this board posted it would....Shut down Wiggins and you are playing an Average at best team...I wish them luck going into the tourny as well as to the other teams, but I dont see GHS making it as far as most people think they will...

If that is all your saying then make that your first post. Dont say things like "Greeneville is still the best in the east and we are gonna take state...go wiggins!!!" and then change your opinion a few minutes later and say That "you know they arent the best in the state"....just use common sense bro and you wont look like a cocky toehole all the time...lol

Im sure everyone admires your school spirit man, but be realistic. You can hope your team wins even tho you know the odds are stacked against them and they probably wont. Just dont keep repeating how good greeneville is and how they are the best in the east and are gonna win state, cause its not gonna happen this year...and actions speak louder than words...and ghs actions produced a 29 point loss....does any of that make sense to you?

I have seen GHS play about 12 times this year. They have a GOOD ball club but NOT A GREAT one!!! If they were the best in the east they would not have lost to a mediocre SHHS team by 29 points! I admire your school spirit man but your thoughts and opinions are very far fetched and unrealistic....I wish the devils luck the rest of the year, but to be considered the best in East Tennessee they are going to have to play MUCH better than they have the past several weeks...

Stop saying GHS is the best because last nite they were NOT the better team on the floor, much less the state!! They werent the best in the JV games or in the Varsity boys game. I thought GHS would win and I openly stated it on this board, but when they lost I have given credit where credit is due and that is to SHHS. They outplayed the devils by far. I am not a greeneville fan by any means, but you are making all the fans from GHS look bad with your comments, and you are making all the people in little ol Greeneville look like idiots. I am sure they dont appreciate it....and you are also on everyones nerves... This is a board for opinions and that is just mine...LET IT GO MAN!!!!

I believe that Greeneville played as poorly as I have seen this year, while SH stepped up and played as good as I have seen this year. Wiggins had an off night, and Wattad was on fire. Heck...EVERYONE from SH was on fire! I was impressed with SHHS tonite, and I havent been impressed by them all year. They really stepped it up tonite! It will be extremely interesting to see how the Region shapes up. GHS has some big concerns to address and corrections to make, SHHS has to keep playing at the level that they did tonite. Congrats on proving me wrong tonite SHHS! Good luck to both teams the rest of the season....I cant wait to see a re-mach!

We know you think that the devils are #1 still, but the cold hard truth is they got outplayed tonite! Yes they may have had some players who have been sick the past week, but that is no excuse to get beat by 29 points...Take your medicine, tell the winners congrats and DROP IT! Doesnt sound like an excuse to anyone but you. It sounds like they were sick and still had a great game. Dude you must be really worried about losing tonite because every post you have written has either been bashing greeneville or blaming them for making excuses. Go sit your a** in the front row and watch Wiggins and Gash school your beloved toppers tonite and dont post any excuses for why GHS beat SHHS...of course I know what will happen...you will blame the loss on the officials! Some of the best student sections in the nation arent on the floor. Yes I am sure it is more fun for you to be down on the floor and all but it probably isnt the safest thing in the world. If having to move ruins your student section I agree that you didnt have much of one to start with. You can be just as loud and supportive of your team from the bleachers as you can on the floor....let your school spirit shine through your little setback, and do whatever you have to do to make it the best again...

As an official, I can say that as a rule ( I cant speak for 100% of the guys in the state, but all the ones I know and work with i can) do not target schools or players or coaches even for that matter for Technical fouls. We dont decide who we are going to call for before the game. We go out and try to call what we see. We try to be as fair as possible. I know that we miss calls, just like players miss shots, but we do try to do a good job. Most of the guys I call with are in it for the kids too. Its great to see players grow up on and off the floor. We do try to be fair! We do try to be unbiased! But we are human....we do make mistakes. Personally, I try to learn each time I mess up on the floor, and I do my best not to make the same mistake again...Remember these things before you think an official is out to "get" you...its probably just not true.!!.

I love it! Calling ball is great money on the side, and it is really neat to watch teams and players develop as the year goes along, and even their 4 year career passes by. More people should give officiating a shot! Maybe then they could understand what its like to be on the floor and some of them will take it easy on us in the stripes....HAHA....like that will ever happen lol

Its too early to begin thinking about winning state. You all should just focus on Saturday night for right now.

I started calling ball the year after I graduated. You are exactly right...It is a great way to make some extra money! and we do need young guys right out of high school to start calling. Some of the guys have been calling ball for over 50 years! When they stop, we need to have fresh legs to start! Think about that tho....50 years of officiating high school basketball...that just blows my mind....

Watch for the SG program to get stronger over the next 2-3 years...they are weak as can be this year, but have some great athletes on the rise!

You could always call the state office if you really needed to know. I would suggest asking someone you know who is an official....that would probably be more productive than a phone call as I am sure the TSSAA gets plenty of phone calls every day about the officials. I call for them, and you can never make everyone happy, but I guess that is just how it goes!
