  1. Kids need to remind their parents that they are kids and are suppose to be enjoying this time in their life. Sports should be seasonal and not year round. Play it to have fun and enjoy each and every minute of it. If you have the talent to carry it to the next level then by all means pursue it with passion and desire. If you are not looking at the next level, then try you best, play hard as you possibly can, hustle for every loose ball, and leave the floor with a smile, win or lose. In the eyes of each person in the gym, fan or visitor, you'll be looked at as a winner. Just don't let anyone force you into doing something you don't have the desire to do. If you're in it to please your parents, then you'll only have heartache. Remember....Have Fun...You have the rest of your lives to have worries....Please don't take this the wrong way...Having fun while playing any sports does not mean to goof off...You must take it serious because you will have players on your team that will depend on you to do you best....Practice hard, and play hard...You can do that and also have fun at it..
  2. I say no...It's hard for small schools playing schools with taller players if they have a shot clock. Some well coached kids will pass the ball around for well past 35 seconds looking for the open shot. Coaches with taller players will just sit back in a zone waiting for the rebound. When you force them to play man to man they will get beat alot of times. If you place the shot clock in then you've taken away the only equalizer a smaller team has against a zone defense.
  3. Was the child or parent humilated in this situation? If the coach is out of his or her control with the players then go to the Athelitic Director or Principal with the situation. I've been on both ends..Player and Coach. Sometimes attitudes with the players will push you to the end of your rope. A good coach will maintain control even if he has to step on a few parents toes along the way. If he is verbally abusing the players then higher authorities will step in. As far as humiliating goes though Pat Summit probably humiliates some of her players in someones eyes but that don't mean she isn't a great coach of the game...
  4. They are enjoying it. I heard Forrest didn't have any starters in this game either. Ha!Ha!
  5. I'm not talking about being treated like a dog. My quote was if taught correctly. Honestly you probably don't know what being treated like a dog is. And please don't go with armed forces after school. They also like to break you down and then build you up. As far as your coach believing in you, I'm sure he does..You're still on the team ain't you...
  6. That is what is wrong with the world today....No one can take criticism from a coach, even if it is to make you play harder. We pamper our children today and give them every thing they want and then wonder why someone other than us scolds them for something. If parents can't hand out tough love, then maybe the coach should. Mom and Dad ain't always gonna be there for them....Look at it this way..Basketball or any other sport does help children learn respect and discipline if it is taught correctly. Don't always baby your child. Sometimes what happens to your child will only make them stronger. They must grow up sometime....
  7. I think this one will be a really good game between, in my opinion, the top 2 District 11A teams right now. Moore County comes out on top by 3 in the end, but it should still be a good game to watch. I pick Moore County, but if Richland wins this game, I won't be that surprised
  8. Collinwood by 10. They are continuing to improve each game...
