  1. See MY Previous post. THS Coaches were never trying to get control...seemed to be this staff's usual mode of operation. I also think the refs were to blame as they lost control and let things get out of hand. I think if they were not under the spotlight of a State Championship game and this was at a school site, a few players would have been ejected.
  2. OK Sheep...Look at 9:10 of this video http://www.youtube.com/user/bigvoldaddy#p/u/35/RMexRbUSSeE Looks pretty mutual to me w/ (as I said earlier) GVille DL giving a little extra after the play. The kid that was involved is one of the most quiet and restrained kids on the team. He just had enough of the late hits. Also, You just showed your ignorance about east tn high school football. Everyone that knows anything about the Fulton program knows that their coaches do not tolerate bad character and unsportsmanlike conduct. And yes, every program has a few players that go overboard, but they dont get much playing time if they do that at Fulton. Sometimes sheep like yourself dont like the truth bc it does hurt, or you think it tarnishes your idea of a great season. Props goes out to your team on the 'ship, but lets not get carried away and forget your place...One Gold Ball does not make you a Dynasty. Your '10 edition would not stack up to the Fulton '03 or '06 teams.
  3. Some people have touched on this, but the BOTTOM LINE here is not where the kids come from (family structure and environmental factors do have a huge influence on behavior), but rather the COACHES and adults on the Trezevant sidelines. Most young people will act out if they are ALLOWED to and ESPECIALLY if they know they can get away with it without reprimands or repercussions. That is exactly what I witnessed during the TV coverage...When they panned to THS sidelines, you rarely saw any of the THS head coach or any other coaches get onto a player after unsportsmanlike actions. Instead I only saw their coaches act as victims, complaining to each other. For the players this action by the coaches just serves to JUSTIFY the behavior, which causes it to escalate and ultimately lead to the game getting out of hand, b/c they focus more on the trash talking game rather than the game itself. Mentally weak coaches produce Mentally weak Players. That being said, Greenville, on the other hand, was not totally innocent. I have seen the Devils play plenty this year and they partake in their share of classless, unsportmanlike and bush league acts on a regular basis (notorious late hits, standing over players, taunting opposing sidelines), and I didn’t see their coaches reeling them in or chewing butts over it either. Their methods are used mainly to instigate or provoke something from the opponent. #11 has been guilty of this on many occasions, especially during the State game. Playing w/ high emotions is great, but Constantly standing over players, making hand gestures (saluting)--which should all be subject to a flag—and constant jawing and getting in players faces after big plays is taking it too far. What makes the situation volatile, is late when GVille is has been putting games away, they start to amp up the trash talking and goad teams into frustration penalties and fights. This definitely tarnishes your image and contradicts the idea of Winning with Class.
  4. Getting back to the turf will definitely benefit GVille. Sloppy field conditions at Maplewood really took them out of their comfort zone and slowed their spread attack. Smart move late in the forth by going to a two back set and pounding the rock for first downs and running the clock. They should be the favorite to hoist the Gold ball next week for 4A. The Devils beat a good team last night. The Panthers had some good athletes and great size, esp #78 and #54 (who put a real hurtin on that maroon jersey)...#26 RB and #1 WR were real good looking athletes as well. #20 RB/FS was their best overall player--a gutsy and quick little playmaker. Despite being very athletic, Maplewood was one-dimensional w/absolutely no passing game. In the 3rd quarter, they took the kickoff and drove inside the 15 with several big runs, but for some reason decided to throw a short pass (The only pass attempt for them the 2nd half) to the twins receiver side which was picked off. The wrs were both bunched together and looked as confused as the qb that made the awful throw. With #1 towering at 6-5 or 6-6, it was surprising that they never tried a jump ball. After that play, I believe it was the PA announcer, stepped out of the press box and yelled a few times down to the coaches on the sideline to "Run the ball." Interesting sight to see. I am sure, like most Memphis teams, Trezevant is very athletic and this will cause the Devil offense some problems. The Bears better have size to go along with the speed or it will not be a game. That being said, I think GVille toughness and experience will be the edge.
  5. Don't try to come in mid-thread and interject, if you are not willing to follow or read the past posts. My statement about Fulton DBs was rebuttal to GVille having a great passing game and the fact that "the falcons should know." Down to Earth...YES SIR, many of your fans give opposing teams little respect on these boards and in the stands. Agreed, scoreboard is the only thing that matters and GVille has taken care of that so far this year.
  6. Barb, you really need to starting reading posts more closely, and stop making all these false generalization. All references to 09 were in regard to Whites Creeks self-induced offensive problems last year. Every other point I brought up was about the current group. Once again, as stated earlier, GVille has the team that could and should win it all and has to be one of the favorites in 4A...but, believe it or not, there are some things opponents can do to cause them problems. My comments were merely commentary for Maplewood and Middle TN fans about the match-up from an outsiders perspective.
  7. People post about weaknesses when a fanbase needs to come down to earth and get their heads out of the clouds...thinking that their team is one of high school history's greatest. Man, you guys have some serious sensitivity issues. This is in no way a "bashing," as you put it. Just one man's football analysis (of strengths and weaknesses). GVille is a quality team, but Dont expect everyone to just fall all over themselves about how great the devils are, bc they are far from one of the best teams from this area in recent history. BTW, Fulton played 2 Sophomores and a Freshman DB the entire game vs GVille. Playing Man coverage, at some point in the game that had to catch up to them.
  8. Everybody knows Shuffler is your only 'real' receiving threat, and that is only on the deep ball. GVille is not the team to throw a screen and go 80 yards. Carmichael wants to sit in the pocket and lob a deep ball. He is not proficient in the short passing game...why do you think you guys rarely do it? Like I said, you need a stout DL...that will slow down Spradlin or Story in the middle. It is hard to talk with you GVille folks, as you are convinced that you have the best team to ever strap on the pads in TN. Hate to tell you, contrary what people living in the 'GVille bubble' think, your team does have weaknesses. You guys must have had some really terrible teams in the past...because you finally get a decent team and you dont know how to handle yourselves and go WAY OVERBOARD!
  9. No doubt Greeneville is a quality team and one of the favorites to hoist the Gold Ball in Cookeville. That being said, I think this one will be closer than most people (esp. devils fans) think. Devils offense can be neutralized with a stout D-line and speed off of the edge to contain Carmichael. Maplewood, much like Whites Creek 09, will have more team speed than GVille. If the panthers have this formula and can force Carmichael to throw short/intermediate routes (which is a weakness for him), it will mean trouble for the devil offense. As for the Panther offense, I hope you are better organized and prepared than your cross town rivals (Whites Creek) were in last year semis. Whites Creek had great athletes all over the field, but continuously shot themselves in the foot with bad play calls, penalties, personnel mix-ups and delay of games (and that was while running a hurry-up, no huddle). A team cant make very many of these types of mistakes vs GVille and expect to win. GVille defense is stout, disciplined and they fly to the ball. However, they seem to give up most of their yards outside or off tackle, and with play action and in the short passing game. Can anyone tell us about Maplewood's offensive and defensive schemes?
  10. Tad, you will have to ignore Mangiedog69...he is a MiddleTN blowbag and fan of the Page Patroits. He is a major antagonizer and an all around CLOWN!! He is the same person that adamantly and erroneously predicted that Roger Herndon would run wild and Greenbrier would destroy Fulton in the State in '04, and also that Pearl Cohn would blowout Fulton 2 years straight in the playoffs in 06 and 07…all were Comfortable Falcon victories. Like I said, he is a CLOWN and full of hot air! He knows very little about Fulton, or anything else for that matter.
  11. Catholic is very similar to David Lipscomb. They run a variation of the Wing T, except unlike most teams that run the Wing T, they line up very tight and come off low and hard from a 4 point stance. They run the offense very methodical with quick and precision timing. You must account for all three backs (FB, TB and WB) as they will fake to at least one of them on every play and sometimes two if they are running misdirection/inside reverse (similar to what DL runs). You will also have to account for the QB as they run some option and he can run pretty well. They have good team speed, tackle well, strip well (caused 3 TOs v. WH on strips) and play excellent assignment football, esp on defense. They do seem to have trouble with teams that have great team speed and can recover to the outside, esp if their backs bounce outside. This was one of White House's weaknesses...they were packing it in the middle to stop the between tackle and when Catholic ran outside the tackle, WHouse seemed to struggle pursuing to the outside...couldnt really string the play out. A team with great team speed will be able to string them out...AE did a good job at this early in the year. Most all of their passing is off of playaction (similar to DL) so DBs must be disciplined. QB has good size and has a strong, live arm. Hood is a big target at TE and has good wheels for a big man. Both starting backs are hard-nose runners whom can take it the distance on any given play...but neither close to the caliber of Rogers. Kicking game is solid...Kicker/Punter is a transfer from Stone Memorial and can kill punts, hit the long FG and hits most kickoffs inside the 5. White House did hit some big gainers on Catholic and ran alot of pro-style formations and plays, and I am sure Mitchell will see some things on film from that game that they can have success with. For the most part Catholic usually keeps the offense in front of them and does not give up many long scoring strikes....bend but dont break for the most part.
  12. bulldog- you are the official BROKEN RECORD of CoachT. Year after year the same old sad song and dance. Your team gets busted??¦then you start to instigate all the other team's fans with your offensive, abrasive tone. Always starting the ???So you guys think nobody can compete with Region 2?????¦you must think that b/c you are the first to bring it up year after year. Region 2 can stand on it??™s own merits and past record. Look, the Proof is in the Pudding??¦we don??™t have to brag, our Actions Speak Louder than any words! You were stirring up the same crap when Fulton played Greenbrier in 04, then I saw you on threads when LA played DL in 05, and then again in 06 and 07 when Fulton played both Pearl and DL. You must be about 5 foot 2??¦because you have a serious case of ???little man??™s disease.??? You are on this thread stirring it up, and meanwhile (in typical bulldog fashion) on the DL v Mitchell thread Starting Crap about how Memphis people think they can destroy middle tn teams??¦give it a rest. Do use all a favor and shut it down this year, b/c it is getting real old and I really don??™t feel like blowing you up and making you look silly like I have had to do every year since 2004.
  13. Where would that leave Fairview...with Nashville? Nashville becomes more interesting with Maplewood, Whites Creek and Stratford moving up and Pearl Cohn Moving Down. How do you guys think the Chattanooga, Memphis and Nashville areas will be broken up for the regular season?
  14. Good win for AE...they played well and played within their strengths; controlling the clock, keep mistakes and turnovers down and relying on their defense. Now, to say they showed great sportsmanship is a JOKE. In typical AE fashion...the Roadrunners tried to instigate and initiate a fight by standing in front of the gate entry to the field and blocking the Fulton football team from entering. Some of the AE players were saying "let??™s go" and were ready to go onto the field, but the AE assistant coach refused to let them move an inch. No doubt about it??¦this was a blatant attempt to disrespect the Fulton team. I even heard, from where I was on the track, the AE cheerleaders saying in confusion ???what are they doing/waiting for???? and then laughing and carrying on after seeing what was unfolding. Then after about 30 seconds was left on the pregame clock, the AE coach allowed the team to inch toward the goal post and then stalled there until the pregame clock ran down. AE had no sign they were running through, just 8 cheerleaders standing in the endzone. Fulton on the other hand was waiting to run through their sign at midfield...it was pure nonsense and nonsportsmanship on AE??™s part. Good game by the Roadrunners, but like I said TYPICAL actions...they have always shown to have little to no class. And as for Photoman calling the ignorant poster "Yung Monkey"...this was in no way intended to be racial, just merely a play on his YungMoney handle. If you didn??™t know, present day English Usage of Monkey Boy includes the following (if you don??™t believe me, Google it): -A male showing no evidence of proper upbringing, consideration of others, or the slightest civilized manners. -A young, loud, boisterous, male prone to excessive alcohol consumption, aggression and immature, obnoxious behaviour. Monkey boys are generally of middle to upper class origin and have a preference for either preppy or jock attire and hairstyles. (i.e. Female college students with any level of sophistication avoid fraternity parties because most frat parties are filled with monkey boys.) -The current occupant of the White House. You hear this reference a lot in the media these days (i.e. George W. Bush thinks, acts, and looks like a monkey. Therefore he is a monkey boy.) I think this would be appropriate usage considering YungMoney??™s Fulton ???Faggits??? comment.
