  2. Let's drop this whole thing with Hannah! He's a great kid that made a bonehead mistake! Let him learn from his lesson and move on!
  3. Fryman will get his chance again this weekend at the Cordova Duals.
  4. Carl Taylor from Ridgeway should get some recognition soon. He's doing quite well as of late. He placed 3rd at the Blackhorse, with his only loss coming to Brother Martin in double OT. He's beaten Hooser from MUS and Allen from Cordova, who are pretty good wrestlers.
  5. Germantown and Memphis Catholic will be at Ridgeway on Thursday, 6:00.
  6. With a tournament under our belts, what do you think about our Region so far? Collierville is still a bit of a mystery as they went to Kenwood, but West TN still showed good stuff at the Blackhorse. Who's going to state? Here's my opinion thus far, I'd love to hear yours! 103: 1) Darius Williams, Ridgeway 2) Adam Piotrowski, Cordova 3) Reid Carter, Bolton 4) Demetrius Johnson, Munford 112: 1) Mike Hammond, Collierville 2) Josh Martin, Bolton 3) Dustin Smith, Germantown 4) Dale Baker, White Station 119: 1) Jonas Gibbs, Ridgeway 2) Vincent Winston, Kingsbury 3) Jeff Hunt, Collierville 4) Shawn Quint, Bartlett 125: 1) Chris Baker, Bartlett 2) Chad Warren, Ridgeway 3) Andy Groves, Houston 4) Hannah, Bolton 130: 1) David Hunt, Collierville 2) Zach Friedman, Ridgeway 3) Brandon Wright, Houston 4) Dalton Kleinjan, Bartlett 135: 1) Nick Rogers, Collierville 2) Dominic Williams, Cordova 3) Ashten Johnson, Munford 4) Rob Harrison, Ridgeway 140: 1) Andrew Barnett, Germantown 2) Craig Edgington, Munford 3) Ben Scott, Ridgeway 4) Ryan Cullen, Collierville 145: 1) T.J. It should be interesting on how these pan out!

Yeah, Mario Allen is waiting to hear from TSSAA about his eligibility, and they still have Tommy Williams at 152. They've got some scrappy guys at the lower weights and their HWT has some moves.

Thanks! Bashara Robinson graduated last year with Laevy Davis and Anthony Evans. The state brackets had a typo and had him listed as a junior. Westside is rebuilding, but who wouldn't be after losing 3 wrestlers that are that good. They still have some good talent over there and Coach Richardson always seems to bring some studs out of the woodwork.
  9. Yes, Jonas Gibbs and Chad Warren will be at 119 and 125, respectively. They both are wrestling great and should have outstanding seasons. Speroff from Collierville and Baker from Bartlett will be the biggest challenges. Yes, Wright (Houston), Hunt (Collierville), and Groves (Houston) will be stiff competition. But don't forget 119'ers Quint from Bartlett and Winston from Kingsbury, they are definitely in the mix.
  10. Thanks to all that are noticing the Ridgeway team. We started from scratch 4 years ago and the area really helped us get on our feet. Much appreciation goes to Tony Bradley of Germantown, Walt Holmes of Houston, and Chris Lewis of Christian Brothers. Thanks for all the help!

Uri Hansen is a junior from Ridgeway and he should fair well this year. After taking his lumps as a sophomore from Anthony Evans, he's readt to come into his own.
  12. Corey Kizer of Melrose and Will Hudgens of Ridgeway will be candidates.
  13. Will Hudgens and Demetrius Jones of Ridgeway star in football and baseball, Hudgens being an absolute stud in both. Courtney Taylor (future college CB) also excels in track.
  14. I am assuming that all are in agreement?

  16. Who will be the favorites for Region 8 next year? Team: Collierville, Ridgeway, Houston, Bartlett 103: Hammond,COL 112: Martin,BOL 119: Speroff,COL 125: Baker,COR; Warren,RWY 130: Hunt,COL 135: Rogers,COL; Hannah,BOL 140: Barnett,GER 145: Chism,BAR 152: Borneman,HOU; West,COL 160: Graham,COL; Sharp,GER 171: Moore,RWY; Bourland,BOL 189: Faulkner,COL; Perkins,BOL 215: Hansen,RWY; Lindow,COL 275: Allen,COR; Hilliard,KING; Taylor,RWY
  17. J Robinson of CBHS, Caleb Chism of Bartlett, and Shawn Quint of Bartlett placed 1st. Outstanding performances by other Memphis area wrestlers: Nick Marable(CBHS), David Hunt (Collierville),Chris Baker (Cordova), Carson Moore (Ridgeway),Josh Baucke (CBHS), Chad Warren (Ridgeway), Nick Rogers (Collierville), Darius Williams (Ridgeway), Landon Moore (Ridgeway), and Trip Hiller.
  18. Chris Baker (Cordova) won the high school division, beating Beau Devitour and J Robinson of CBHS. He bumped up to the college division to wrestle Boudreaux ans lost 4-2. The Marable brothers won their weight classes.
  19. Teyon Ware did not wrestle at Nationals last year and Matt Keller dropped a weight class for Nationals.
  20. I really think that Scott Cook from Cookeville deserves it. I also believe Steve Logsdon is a close second. Logsdon makes state champs year in and year out. He had 6 in the finals for crying out loud! Most people would love having 6 finalists in the region. However, Cook has done an amazing job. He, Coach Dennison, and Coach Frazier started the team from scratch. No middle school or feeder programs and has sent 10 to state each of the last two years. Great job Cookeville.
  21. Empro, you hit the nail right on the head! The ref (Jack Gallagher) did everything he could to keep Anthony Evans from winning the match. The offensive ratio was actually 16-2. Evans took 16 shots and got called for stalling? You've got to be kidding me. The warning for stalling was a joke and to award a point with 5 seconds left and Evans being more aggressive than Bonham, was ridiculous! Evans kept his composure and began the overtime period. He ran Bonham around the mat and nothing was done to Bonham. Evans locks up the side-cradle and the ref awards two points. Evans again gets a raw deal when the ref said he didn't have control. Why would you award two points if there was no control? Why not wait until you are absolutely sure (being that he has a cradle locked up.) And guess what? Evans had the cradle voided out and start again on his feet. At the start of double OT, Evans gets his escape for the win. What an act of composure by a high school student! Evans never complained or questioned any of the calls, he just kept wrestling hard and got what he deserved....a state championship.
  22. My, my, my. We have definitely got some ruffled feathers in this thread. I know testosterone can be a dangerous thing for some people, so some of you better let off some steam before this weekend or someone will shoot their eye out!

  24. I hate to say it, but with that new stadium on the river, we will still take the 'ol backseat when it comes to football.
