You are correct. It should be settled on the field and if you lose most of your games on the field you shouldn't be rewarded with a playoff game. In a perfect world, everyone would like the playoffs to be just for those with exceptional records. The moment the TSSAA decided to use it as a fund raiser more teams had to be included. Therefore teams with losing records had to be included. Lets just accept it for what it is. The first round is nothing more than a TSSAA benefit with the important games starting in the second or third rounds.

Teams getting in with losing records is not a big issue with me. Why does it have to be so difficult to find out how and why you are in or out of the playoffs? Should this not be settled on the field and not by some "criteria" dreamed up by some secret committee? Our governing board is making something difficult out of something that could be very easy.

This is absolutely crazy. What is wrong with the old system of having every playoff position settled on the field rather than some "criteria". I would rather have a few fourth place teams with losing records in the playoff than be unsure about how I am going to get in. The teams with losing records are a nice warm up for those higher qualifying teams. If the teams with losing records do advance, it makes a great story for their community and the state.

What was your record this year? Did you beat anyone in the conference? Is the pay comparable to the other schools in your conference?
