  1. We can only hope. Central and Soddy both took the high road, with regard to discipline of players and programs after fighting, as compared to Signal. As a lifelong resident of this area, that says a lot. It's time to clean house from the top down. (wouldn't hurt to find somebody who can coach defense too)
  2. You forgot #1 in the NATION in swimming and top ranked, again, in girl's soccer. 10 National Merit Semifinalists this year "Just saying"
  3. If this game is a "community deal" as you claim, then talk to the public schools about playing Baylor and McCallie so that they don't have to go to Charlotte, Charlottesville, Atlanta and other cities just to fill out their schedules. They already make trips to Nashville as part of their region. If the community feels so strongly about the "right" to see this game, then the community should play them too.
  4. Life imitates art. A similar situation occurred in the movie "Coach Carter" which is based on a true story. He assigned over 1,000 sprints and the young offender won back his teammates to the point that they helped him by completing some of his running. It turned a negative situation into a positive and taught everyone about team building and commitment.
  5. The team Baylor sent to the lower field was FRESHMEN. Baylor doesn't have the numbers to have separate JV and Freshman teams. Rhea has a decent team and it was a good test for both. Don't even start talking about the ref calls though.
  6. I agree with the playoff rule proposal. It would be great to settle the 2a v 4 or 5a debate and the public/private debate on the field instead of on these boards.
  7. "Baylor MIGHT win one game. How does a school that prides itself on having one of the nation's top athletic programs become so bad? Who cares about golf and tennis except Lookout Mountain people? DO SOMETHING TO MAKE YOUR SELF BETTER OR GIVE IT UP!" Baylor will be OK. They ran two different plays over and over and appeared to stay in cover 3 base the whole time. They've played pretty well in their scrimmages. Nic Hughes is a good quarterback with a lot of talent. I hope he stays healthy and has a great year. Boyd will be OK too. Let's play four quarters that matter before we crown anybody or discard anybody.
  8. Looks more like the All City DII team for Nashville and Memphis. Bookmark it and talk AFTER they've played the season.
  9. Who else? They usually have 4 schools. The last couple of years Polk Co. and William Blount were there.
  10. I saw them early in 7 on 7 and they looked like they were learning a new offense. The Hubbard kid should help. He's got awesome speed.
  11. Don't go there. Those Chattanooga Central teams of the '50's, when most of those championships were won, had players from all over, including Georgia. So do some of the public school teams today. Don't tell me that a kid goes to some of the perennial public school powers for the education. And, just so we're clear, 4mrlbr means "former (Central) Pounder"
  12. Baylor has it on their schedule
  13. I was down on the DII end and that match caught my eye too. (Even as we were agonizing over the 275 match) Those two young men were moving around like a couple of really big 119 pounders. Great effort by both.
  14. We're being told that this tourney has been rescheduled for Wednesday, Ash Wednesday. Is this true?
  15. They flashed it up at least once, when it was 66-8 prior to the last match (119). The scoreboard they used showed either weight or team score, but not both. That was the explanation I got from one of my EBE friends.
  16. Probably a swing of several points at 171 since Shuford (Sr) should be there. Even if it's Helton, he is very talented and able to stay off his back. Hopefully both teams will make it to the finals and we'll get to see.
  17. Agreed Harry. I would have quoted The Boss and Glory Days but I felt that this song said it better when it comes to Grappler since we have no way of verifying his former glory. Paisley free since 2008.
  18. Why all of the anger? Oh, my Mom died two years ago after a long illness so no more tuck ins. Lighten up!
  19. This time last year BCB was quoting old Rock'N Roll lyrics, but I felt that the one below were more applicable: I work down at the pizza pit And I drive an old Hyundai I still live with my mom and dad I'm 5'3 and overweight I'm a Sci-fi fantatic Mild athsmatic Never been to 2nd base But there's a whole nother me That you need to see Go check out MySpace Cause online I'm down in Hollywood I'm 6'5 and I look darn good I drive a Mazerati I'm a black belt in Karate And I love a good glass of wine It turns girls on that I'm mysterious I tell 'em I don't want nothing serious Cause even on a slow day I can have a three way Chat with two women at one time I'm so much cooler online So much cooler online Brad Paisley Online2007
  20. I just learned of two more young studs that will be looking the way of the blue. Both are 7th graders and the top kids their size. Im not sure if they will try to enroll as 8th graders or wait until the 9th grade but they will be going through the process for sure. I believe you're the one who brought younger kids into this. I appreciate your recognition of my genius, but I'm no BCB or Walkenvol when it comes to wrestling. I ahve to ask though... why are do you reference Alan Gold's in so many of your posts?
  21. The tide must have been turning last night when the JV's got together. 20-2 matches Baylor. If you want to score it like a dual, 105-9. How's that future working out?
  22. I saw this kid at the McCallie Invite two years ago as a sixth grader. If I recall, the "former Raider" who is now empl... I mean attending EBE met him too and did not like the outcome.
  23. That's right. 4 or 5 of those Baylor starters will be Juniors then.
  24. Call it the "Ronnie Carter Invitational"
