  1. That was one heck of a game last night. I couldn't believe how packed it was in there. When DC started getting after it late in the second half, that crowd played as big a factor as anything. They really have great support going on over there right now. Congrats on a good season, and you guys should be very proud of how your team battled with white station last night. Not many thought they would! And yes, I was once a doubter of your posts myself I must admit, but over time you have proved me wrong. You do have a pretty good knowledge of the game! Good luck next year!
  2. I'd personally like to see someone who is already in the system get a look. There's something to be said in having a coach that already knows the kids and has a good relationship with them. Someone who is used to doing things a certain way that have proved to be successful. I have got to think that out of the 18 Coaches on staff, someone, if not someone(s) could be very deserving of the job as well! Go Big Red!
  3. Thanks. If you run across the score please post it. Henry County 53 West Creek 44
  4. I for one am very excited to attend this event! My wife thinks its funny that I have gotten a baby sitter so I can sit and watch basketball all day undisturbed. (As I previously was on duty while she xmas shopped) I really can't wait though. I can not remember any time in my life actually when something that would parallel this event has happened in this area and let alone the state of TN. Does it get any better than this????
  5. They're good, but certainly not unbeatable, especially if James continues to live in the doghouse, outhouse, or wherever he currently resides. He and #12 (can't remember kid's name) sat most or all of the game against Henry County after being major contributors last year. Without those two playing, their backcourt looked vunerable and their perimeter shooting was poor. I think the little kid you're referring to is battling some kind of mysterious injury that nobody can diagnose. Kid is lights out though!!!
  6. If there are any teams being formed will you please get that info out. My son is wanting to play at the conclusion of this school year as well as some of his friends who I think would greatly help any team. Please let me know so we can get them to try outs. Thanks NM
  7. Clarksville will beat some teams this year that might surprise you. They are young but work very hard and have a toughness about them. Their shooting will either win or lose them games, as they do let them fly.... Northeast is by far the most talented team in Clarksville. Not only do they have bigger and better athletes than the rest of the schools in Cville, but they are also better coached than most. I expect them to roll through the district with no more than 1 or 2 losses in district play. Players; Cville -young will be a player in years to come, not a bad little player as a freshman. They also have a little point guard that played some last year and is a solid player. (Cook I think?) Northeast - Just look and point, they have more talent than I have seen in a long time in this area. They remind me of a team you'd see out of memphis. Just a bunch of very talented athletes that all are pretty equal in skill level. They should have a great year!
  8. I imagine same time as all district games. Girls at 6, Boys at 7:30. NM
  9. Thank you for your insight. I haven't been able to see Kenwood play yet, however I have gotten to see Springfield play. It sounds like Kenwood may be a little better than expected. NM
  10. Were you in attendance last night? I'm interested in how that game played out and any insights anyone can share on the game... Thanks nm
  11. Gibson County played very well! From what I was told they won their state championship last night from the way they were acting after the game... The only thing I disagree with is that HC was not at full strength. 3 guys, all of which could be possible starters(2 started last year and 1 has potential to work himself in), didn't even dress last night due to injuries. 2 should be back within 2 to 3 weeks and the other late in the season hopefully. But as I said, Gibson played as well as they could ever hope to play. So hats off to them, Congrats Pioneers!!
  12. I can't argue with you on the fact that they always seem to be loaded. You are right about that!!
  13. Joe Jackson is the real deal and one of the best players in the state. Now that said... I don't guess we watched the same game between white station and northeast. The game I watched had northeast leading in the third quarter and then getting beat late by what I remember being right around 10 points. I guess we can all define the term blowout differently, but getting beat by 10 to the eventual state champs, a lot of which came off free throws late in the game, to me sir is no blowout! That was after they defeated the "#1 ranked" team in the state out of east tn. I have always believed that rankings don't mean much, but at the same time I don't think you're giving northeast enough credit, just my opinion.
  14. I heard they were gonna have a play in game between 8 and 9 to see who gets to play #1.... Kinda like march madness
  15. They will compete in most games but will be a big change from what they have grown use to in AA. How quickly young kids can start to contribute is yet to be seen. I also agree that they should compete for, but not win their district.
  16. (Team from Morely Missouri) Coach Cookson brings experience and an incredible, legendary, winning tradition to the current staff. Coach Cookson won 13 State titles with 7 of those being in a row and was inducted into the Missouri Basketball Hall of Fame in 1991. Just a little information I found on the website about your powerhouse haha.... Not too shabby
  17. When I played I felt like I underachieved every year that I played except the one year we won state. Every other year I felt like we didn't reach our potential. Getting older I realize that by those standards every team except one underachieves each year... So either that is true, or my way of thinking was juvenile. I too expect a good year and am very anxious
  18. When I read your posts on here or other boards it is always clear to me that the only thing you do know is "nothing".
  19. I couldn't agree with you more and most schools know this. Maryville has had great success in both as do most of the schools in memphis. He is a smart kid and knows this as well. Not only will it help make him more well-rounded, he loves the game and knows he is only in highschool once. And Eaglepride I do agree with you that this kid is truly a special talent on the basketball court, he will make many waves across the state this year. But anyways, since this topic is not even in question, I will move on.... I look forward to another great year in 10AAA and would actually like to see us send two teams to murfreesboro this year. I can't wait. I look for Northeast, Henry, and Springfield to all be powers this year and of course someone will emerge as a sleeper as the year progresses. Not quite sure who that will be yet. I don't know much about WEst Creek other than rumors. Kenwood and NOrthwest will have the horses but not sure which if either will get it all together. (But could happen) I hear Clarksville got in a transfer, but once again not sure if that has any salt to it. I think Dickson is on the rise with some younger kids but not sure if they will reach their peak this year, still may be a year away. I don't expect Rossview to be very strong, it wouldn't surprise me if they finish at the bottom... Just a few thoughts on what should be an exciting year.....
  20. Is This the same Mt. Juliet that our own Springfield gave a good throttling to last year? Doubtful they will emerge, and if they do then that's great!!!! I hope 10AAA can send another team to murfreesboro again for the fourth straight year
  21. Hey Southerland, I can assure you Gaddis and his staff are not looking past Springfield this friday. If anything, he is looking at the last match-up and all the mistakes we made. Even with a 38-14 score, I would lay money that he is going to make sure those mistakes don't happen again. I'm not telling you Henry County can't be beat because that just isn't true. However, instead of running your mouth, you should probably be preparing for a Patriot team that will be playing every game like it's the State Championship Game......because it is! Being a coach you should know how fast news travels. Probably a good idea to keep your mouth shut anyway when you are at a venue where the opponent could have some representatives. Congratulations on becoming bulletin board material in the field house and fueling the Patriots already stoked fire! It will be good bulletin board material, whether it's actually something southerland said or if it's one of our own trying to put a little fire in our bellies so we can help make sure our kids don't over look springfield. Either way, I hope it works. Good luck on Friday Patriots! I hope you are playing in December!
  22. Its actually more sad to have the attitude that they dont have a chance. It is football and even though HC is/should be favored, it would not be some huge upset..... Let's be honest, it would be a huge upset. I don't believe it will happen, but a team with a losing record ousting the #2 team in the state sounds like a big upset to me. However, that will not occur. It actually won't even be close
  23. Beech wins easily. Clarksville is garbage
