  1. Will Wise play somewhere in college? And did Massey from Baylor? And you left Jamal Ramsey playing at MTSU and Caffee at APSU...Kellogg at Peay brings back bad memories lol
  2. Ah I meant Darkwa, my bad. And yea, with that coaching I think so. But I suppose EHS and MUS are in the same boat in my book. They each have one very good player that I know about, but besides that, they are a mystery. I'm just assuming that neither had a massive clearinghouse due to graduation. And I think Potter can coach BA to a title. He got McCallie there. As far as Ryan goes, on film and in game, they never impressed me. They don't have the size from a few years ago, and they weren't as tough as usual. So assuming that they don't return everyone, they will be middle of the road, outside looking in again.
  3. No one was whining about recruiting. And as most everyone on this post is associated with a private school (I think), they are just passing their opinions on the state of a few programs, which relates to transfers/recruiting, which relates to the upcoming season. If you want favorites or whatever, go with the usual suspects. In the East, BA will be big and fast, MBA will be deep and well coached, and EHS and Jefferson should make the playoffs again with Baylor and McCallie closing out the top 5. Out West, MUS should take home the gold ball again with Brunetti running the show (I don't know how many they graduate, etc so take that with a grain of salt).
  4. There is talking trash, which is simply part of the game and is pretty fun, but then there is Ryan trash, which encompasses punching after the play, trying to pick fights just because they are getting beat on the scoreboard, and the all around uninspired profanity that really just shows off that great Catholic-Christian education. The entire team wasn't like that, but there were more punks than anyone else we played. I played football instead of golf (Dad was mad lol) because the fact that there is emotion and hitting, so you're preaching to the choir on that one. And no, Ryan has not won anything in a while in football. Making the play-offs isn't "winning" something. I never said BGA was world beaters, actually I have made a point to say that this coming year will be rough and that it is in the best interest for the school to move down to DII-A. We made the play-offs for the first time in 5 years which was a big deal, and really was a source of pride and excitement for the school, but we ended the season on a loss, and despite a good run, we officially didn't end the season as winners. Unless you can put up a banner in the gym, there really isn't anything to brag about. And although we may not be "world beaters," we were Ryan beaters. (I guess Catholic beaters because we beat Pope, but that sounds kind of bad lol).
  5. I agree! With the size of that campus though, is EHS planning on expanding to a higher enrollment in later years? BGA has the whole campaign to expand the campus along with a field house, so I know BGA is planning it...sadly.
  6. Ryan is notorious for talking trash the entire game, shoving after the whistle, etc. One of their outside line backers was coached to simply take out the knee of our pulling guards, which they finally got flagged for late in the game. As we were kneeling out the clock, they had kids torpedoing the pile, etc. Even after the game, they did the "**** you" stuff in the line. For a program that hasn't won anything in a while, they sure do hold themselves pretty highly over other schools. And it wasn't simply the pain of losing, because everyone has trouble losing, but they did the exact same type of bush league stuff the two years before when they won.
  7. I think he was referencing the fact that without Orleans AND Jefferson, the team really isnt formidable. They had a very good line this year and a back field that might as well have been called the "Wild-Tiger" (I'm a Dolphins fan, get over it lol). When we played them, we had as good a game fundamentaly as we had all year on defense, but those two were dynamic enough to break of a few long runs, etc. But it wasn't because of good blocking or whatever, it was those two making something out of very little. Refering to EHS as not being able to consistently compete is most likely aimed at a yearly basis. They don't seem to have the excess of depth and size that would prelude to them making another run next year. OOD will have a great Sr. season leading into the SEC, but Ensworth will not be a "top tier" team next year. I do hope they prove me wrong though. Out of anyone we played this year, they were easily the most class act, along with MUS. There wasn't the cocky swagger of BA, or the all in all pathetic tries at BAMF-ness by Father Ryan. They beat us for the region title and simply got in line, said good game, and wished us luck in the playoffs. Regardless of recruiting and what not, Ricky seems to be coaching his team the right way and running that program well, and I would much rather them be the beacon of Middle Tennesse Privates than BA.
  8. That is pretty hreet random. The offense is in good hands with U, and the defense did a good job last year adjusting the formation, line up, and gameplan seemingly every week. Coaching, as long as the current staff hangs around (Brock, U, and Fleming are all head coaching material, Keel is becoming a very good Defensive Coordinator, and IMO, Johnson is destined for Lincoln Co.), will never be a problem over on Mack Hatcher. The question over the next few years will be solely on players. And seeing as the last dry stetch of talent led to the unfair firing of Coach Tim Moore, hopefully BGA alumn and administration will be wiser this time. Yet again, remember who you are. And yes, I know Coach Johnson is the new AD so a coaching change will not be a problem, but I saw an appropriate oppurtunity to point out a major wrong committed by Capt. Rogers and BGA a few years ago and decided to take advantage of that.
  9. And that is absolutely false. As everyone has said, the financial aid is run through Princeton, etc etc. The only people that go to BGA on a full ride can not play Varsity sports. Seeing as all of these Northern Williamson Co. and Davidson Co. schools have multiple football players from farrrrrrr outside their "zone" it can be be fairly assumed that some grade of "recruiting" goes on. The problem arises when those players are treated much differently than other students and when the acquisition of these athletes becomes the focus of the school over education. The academics of BGA (and I'm assuming BA, Ryan, and MBA are the same) aren't as prestigous as they once were, so obviously the obsession is having its effects. And when Ensworth just stumbles upon a behemoth from Mt. Pleasant...well sorry, get off of the kool-aid, that isn't coincidince. I think that BA wasn't exactly their traditional "good" this year. But in high school, when a team has such an excess of size, it is hard to match up with unless extreme depth in in place(MUS). Meaning I don't think BA was very good this year as an actually team, they simply won due to size, etc.
  10. We are on one of Vandy's olddddd schedules in the book under the old school name, The Moony School. Also, in the 100 year anniversary BGA Football book, it says we use to play the likes of Sewanee, Vandy, and UT. Not really any success in the 80s (Never went to the play-offs when my dad was there.) The glory years in the play-off era were the 90's (except for maybe 2 or 3 bad years?) and the early 00s. These occured in 1A (before BA screwed it up for everyone) and in DII-A and AA (when AAA was the Super 7.) Next year may be pretty rough, but if the players go in with the right attitude, that staff can salvage an acceptable season under the guise of a "rebuilding year." And for realsies? Based on your posts your a Ryan supporter...oh golly there is just soooo much to be proud of with the football program. One recent state championship (I may be wrong. I am young) is just really prestigous. The only reason yall were an original Super Prep member was because of enrollment. Go wrestle or build a stadium or something. Oh, our baseball team just beat yall twice in one week...and SEVEN to THREE 7-3 7-3 7-3. Big threat yall were /tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" />
  11. Had we gone to DII-A, I would have 2 state championship rings /sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" /> IMO the school administration is more worried about being a BA/Ensworth clone rather than being BGA. Fix the academics. Cater to blue collar families in FRANKLIN. Have more pride in the 100+ years of traditions (we are in the friggin ESPN College Football Encyclopedia.) The glory years of the school were when we played schools our size. And just because they played in a lower class, the teams were just as good (beat MBA in 2002.) Remember who you are!
  12. Oh God...don't post about the team or yourselves. I mean seriously now, none of us did that in our four years...don't be those 1-A hreets who talk on here about the team...yall know better. 1)Offensive line has ok size and players, but will be young and fairly inexperienced; will need to gel quickly to protect a new QB and clear lanes for Moore and Bass. 2)Losing Ramsey is one of three fatal flaws between 2008 and 09. The offense will still function(Coach U is great) but will be severely limited in its openess and leadership. 3)Moore showed up as the most consistent and hard running back since Karl; he really had a showcase against MUS. Bass needs a little more size and downhill running and the backfield (minus QB) will be the best since Karl/Hickerson. 4)The Smith brothers and Weiss will be good options for the passing game (though not many passes should be forcasted.) Losing Doran and Reeves at WR drops the size and blocking advantage in the run game. 5)D-line returns in full and should be a strong point if a little more size can be added. George and Maynard will have to step up. 6)Losing Reeves and Neal hurt argueable as much as Ramsey. Teams ran away from them which proved a wildcard. Barlow and Taylor(ha me. I dont play anymore so I can say this) were consistent enough to pick up the leftovers from Reeves and Neal, so losing them will force either Meadows, Butler, or Aaron to step in a linebacker. 7)Both corners return but replacements for Reeves and Ramsey at the safties will need to be found (Thomson, Weiss?) 8)No one can replace Neal, Reeves, and Ramsey in terms of impact, so younger players such as Thomson and the Smiths will need to step up on both sides of the ball. 9)No replacements for McInturff and Magalanese. This impact will be felt majorly when field positon and extra points are the difference between a good season and a bad one. In conclusion, the schedule, region and non, is much more difficult. The season could result in a solid 5-5 type year, yet could dissolve into a 1-9 campaign. The team will be tested for 10 weeks rather than only 6. It will be interesting to see the dedication, grit, etc when things get tough. The offense will go as far as U, Moore, and Bass can take it. The defense will need to grow up quickly by region play, or else this team could look like Pope last year at worst. Good luck guys. The coaching staff is amazing enough for at least 3 wins at Red Boiling Springs, so please get those. If any school can prove crap predictions wrong, it's Battle Ground (not Battleground...yall have alot to learn.)
  13. If you want legit computer rankings go to cal preps . com i had to space that wierd bc for some reason it wouldnt let me post a link
  14. Will be at least. But first two years, takes over teams that haven't been to the playoffs in a while, and they get there his first year...just saying
  15. If BGA and MS win doesn't BGA get the 1st seed over BA by way of overall win/loss? b/c EHS, BGA, and BA would all be 5-1, but since BA beat BGA and BGA beat EHS and EHS and BA don't play, so the head to head would be thrown out, and would move to overall, which eliminates BA. So EHS and BGA would remain and head to head would decide...why is this stuff so confusing?
  16. Like I said back last year in the pre-season Moore Co. threads, Coach Mac is the best coach in the state.
  17. Box score in the paper said it was 14-0 going in to the 4th. Was it actually that close?
  18. Webb Bell Buckle doesn't play football. ECS and Webb should play up.
  19. Combine or split are the only two options. Though I like seeing DI in a mess with the Z Plan lol
