  1. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> so a top 25 D-1 team (UK) is not at the high school level ethier? give me a break. we played them to a very tight game loosing 3-2 in the last min possesion being even in my eyes but ask psudo. that was the dumbet statement i've heard on these boards. Next you will try to tell me that carson newman, where one of the best players to come from farragut, is not high school level ethier.... last time i checked, last four meetings between uc and CN was 3-1 (uc), 1-1, 2-2? (tie but can't remember the score), and 5-4 (uc). Cronaldo, if you really honestly believe that statement then you are going to recieve a HUGH wake up call when you attempt to make the next step. you posted in a earlier discussion about never watching a soccer game.... sounds like you need to watch a little more soccer. Now that is out of the way, i want to apologize if it seems like i am bashing West (really it just seems like i offended a high schooler caugh caugh cronaldo caugh). Never really thought i did but oh well. Vegas, your point of West holding Farragut close is very valid, because it proves that they can stay in any game and give theirselves a chance. they have talent and i never took anything away from them. actually i don't think anyone blew them away score wise all year long. just think that their lack of consistantsy in certain areas really hurts them when they enter tourny time. If they can keep games close, they have the fire power and weapons (set pieces not just throw ins and the ability to counter with few numbers and be very effective) to pull games out... my question is can they do it game after game when the competition gets tough. they did VERY well in SC and how proved they can, but will they prove it again? This West team is one that i love to hate, they do make things interesting in their style of play.... Good luck to them and all as well.
  2. Time and date of this game anyone?
  3. That's only 40 min of soccer in the second half. i want to see them do it 80 min long. i'm just saying their style is not one i want to play against OR or Farragut. and what creativity? they kick and run... both forwards are bad about doing it. once again like i've said all through out my post they don't have the first touch, lack of knowledge of space, and they put themselves all alone on an island.... that is not creativity at all. i have given them the creadit they deserve in past post about the positve attributes i see in them but i think they are just not consistant enough to make it through this tourny....
  4. yes, truly is a shame that only one will advance....
  5. I'm going with the upset (sorry G). How am i basing this opionion? only on a feeling. Carter 3-2. Mark plays the game of his life and carries carter through this one...... Now, Mark don't make me look like a fool! /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
  6. 6 for 6 on uncalled for post!!! (7th post was a score and after this 6th one)......DVD do you ever have anything to say that is of worth? i think i'm gonna start calling you easttnref (which is degrading to even easttnref because he did add to convo from time to time)........... everything i have read from you has been uncalled for and really just a waste of my time.
  7. Nope i didn't forget at all, but remember that they were much more talented last year then this ( loosing mckoy and cat really hurt). also they might have beat OR in the district final but they have also lost to them earlier this year in a game that wasn't really that close the whole game. yeah it seemed like they did score wise but OR had that game on lock the WHOLE game which is something west can not do, dominate a WHOLE game. Their style just does not allow them. they can stay in games and give themselves a chance to win but like i said before they are way too dirict to dominate teams (farragut and OR) that posses. Plus i do not think that they do a very good job building their attack, only enough to do what they can athleticly. West plays only athleticly and not soccer smart at all. they will pull out the victories over some big teams but does not have the capablility to win every time. Next time Vegas read my whole post. here's the part from my first post you left out "jk they are capable of taking the region but i think the winner of the other game is the strong favorite to take this region. i think the other two are better teams, but west has the weapons to beat anyone." Now do you have any reasons why west was SO dominate in ONE half of soccer and why that ONE half makes you believe that they can put together FOUR (two in the semi's two in the finals) halves of soccer to beat really talented possession teams like farragut and OR, and how they can top a team that has playing their style of soccer down to an art in post season like bearden? they just aren't consistant (which is eveident in their first touch, way they use their space and their decision making) to top teams who have had much more success (all three others playing in a state championship before) every single game.
  8. wow psudo, west win the region? now my thoughts that you are a crazy old senile man was just confirmed. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> jk they are capable of taking the region but i think the winner of the other game is the strong favorite to take this region. i think the other two are better teams, but west has the weapons to beat anyone. they just have certain flaws i think that makes it hard for me to pick them over farragut and OR, (maybe even bearden but they play the same style that tunner so it's just who can convert and who can hold off the others attack longest). Bearden 4-3 West coach is a parent and to me this is very obvious. the way their forwards play (being these two, but not limited to them, are some of their better players) is why. If these two had direction then they would not be so tunnel visioned and would make smarter decisions. they have alot to work on and it's a shame because i think they could be the best duo up top...... Nethier know what checking to feet means nor do they understand the concept of space and how it works, really the biggest shame is their first touch and how it effects their space.
  9. soccerstud, so does that make you a farragut player or parent because of your statement? psudo, i agree with your response, but another one you should ask about beating farragut (and really applies to this game because it happened last year) is west. People probolly thought that west didn't stand a chance last year and look at what happened. Now i believe that OR (got to see a game) and farragut (just from what i've heard) is probolly the best two teams is probolly the state. i think both of these teams will represent the east very well if they make it to state. i really look forward to this game and i will probolly be there. i was really impressed with OR and have heard nothing but good things about farragut. i predict that you will watch very good team soccer with lots of possision. i will go with farragut 3-2, but will not be suprised at all (almost expect) OR to pull it off. just think farragut has better post season experience that might give them a tiny edge to pull it off.
  10. I am a college player who is looking for an oppurtunity to coach this summer. if you are a coach or know of a coach who is running camps and looking for help please have them contact. I am also looking for any chances to run trainning seasons for a group of kids or any teams. I have worked with high school camps before, coached a club team, and was an assistant for a high school program. please email me at cperciful3936@ucumberlands.edu if you know of anyone interested.
  11. west 3 OR 4??????? any reason why?
  12. akula, thank you for your comments. i would love to hear more from the rest. akula, do you think that maybe that is just a college standard and that's a seperation between college and high school? the differance in first touch. our coach drills us on first touch. if you have at two bad first touches in a short time people will be ragging on you and getting on your case. maybe it's just the standard i have become occustimuted too. watching that game the other day i notice that maybe it's just not the lack of ability to control on the first touch but it's about the direction, purpose and kind of first touch you make. like oak ridge for example, i noticed that if their forwards would check more and make first touch back into space to lay off for mid-fielders and then their mid fielders used their first touch to open up to switch the field then this team could hold the ball all day long. i think that west was to tunnel vision going forward that they felt the need for every touch (not just the first) to go forward and this killed their attack. should more emphasis be put on the first touch in high school game and how much? i think their is not enough. i noticed this last year.
  13. tanner in goal? plus how did the first touches look to you?
  14. anyone willing to post the new teams and their classifications? or maybe the link?
  15. Cleveland lost yet???????? sounds like they have survived to me...... and not every game in the post season will be as difficult as christian brothers, bearden, and oak ridge (i'm telling you guys that this team is speacil, could turn alot of heads)........ don't bash on cleveland. but like everyone else has said next week is when it counts but trust me you can not count out a team that has accomplished this much this season (anything is possible).....
  16. First game i got to see this year!!!! and it was worth the admission. oak ridge played brilliant in the first half! Ball movement was very close to that of college level. On their feild they would have owned west in the first half and would have tonight if they didn't force play once they were in their attacking third. Had numbers in the middle but choose to force to their forwards and caused turnovers. if they would have found the other side and then brought it back they would have been able to find the forwards feet more. They did do this in spirts in the first half but forced a little to much. i feel like they were two or three great passes away from becoming the best high school team i've probolly ever seen. West mounted attacks but never seemed dangers. Tanner was in goal for the first and mckoy seemeed like he was on an island up front. he wasn't impressive to me in the first. OR scored in the eight min off a set play from the left. Carlos flicked it on into the net off the kick (or was it a throw? can't remember). West scored shortly after off a set play (which should have never been called) brilliant set peace though. mckoy played the ball on the ground toward an apporaching player from "the crowd" and he played it toward the net and someone finished. i thought the keeper had it but they snuck it in. besides set peaces i didn't see much of anything from west. Whoever said that with or without tanner they couldn't beat .............. (will leave unnamed because it doesn't matter) is out of their mind. With tanner West could beat anyone!!!! A) Throw ins. sorry but they could have easily had 4 goals off of them alone and i know that they could score off of them at any point. they are probolly better then a kick (corner and set peace), because at the high school lever players can not put the pace and acuraccy (they float it to much on an crosses and i mean EVERYONE) that tanner puts on his throws. /cool.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="B)" border="0" alt="cool.gif" /> i have ragged on this kid in the past about his attitude but man i saw more intinsity and determination in this kid in the few times i have watched him then probolly any other player. don't always agree with his tactics (i.e. pushing players and winning at times), but the kid gets after it for every single 50/50 balls and will put so much defensive pressure on the defenders. how many forwards can you say about that? second half...... Tanner on the feild and keeper was in goal. This created alot of problems for OR and made it to difficult for them to play out of the back and through them way out of rythem. i do feel like OR did go away from their game plan from the first and that was very disappointing. they couldn't get much going. alot more kick ball in the second half with west putting more pressure on OR. OR scored their second goal of a set peace that went into the box and bounced out to #8 who finished on a great strike. West did come up with more changes but OR keeper is the difference maker. Good positioning and great awareness on when to come out and stay in. Only one spectacular save and squished ever other opertunity west had. OR forced more and didn't have the same ball movement. Carlos is a brilliant player and once he starts developing his one v one skills the sky is the limit. Plays much more in tune with his team then his brother but not as explosive one v one. Man he has good vision, does make very good decisions, and great passing ability. i like that he's not afraid to take on players but needs more work with it. Mckoy and Tanner...... Both have the capablilty to take over a game for west. Super athletic and still young, can't wait to see how they turn out in college. way off page with one another tonight. two very talented forwards but they play WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY to dirict and sometimes ONLY go forward. if the both of them didn't have tunel vision they could have easily ran away with this game in the second half. Tanner just brings way to much to the table for West. Both are increadible athletes and rely on this factor to much some times. #7 for west is very athletic and has the ability to run the middle but lacks very few qualities to dominate the middle. diffinitly worthy of mentioning. One observation that stood out to me and was wondering what everyone else thought about it is the lost art of a good first touch. i can count on one hand the amount of constructive first touches i was tonight. EVERYONE lost the ball on multiple occasions (AND I MEAN EVERYONE!!!!) due to a poor first touch. if the first touch would clean up then the flow of the game will improve and i think OR would be almost impossible to stop when sticking to the right game plan.
  17. /popcorneater.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":popcorneater:" border="0" alt="popcorneater.gif" /> one amazying story...... sportsmanship goes a long way and sometimes leaves a better and longer impression on someone
  18. very interesting game... psuedo where were you? it seemed like the first half CN played their younger players and we went up two nil. Refs were players or students and the center struggled in the begginning and in increments throughout the game. start of the second half we were awarded a pk (i didn't see it but everyone on our sideline said we didn't deserve it) to put us up 3 nil. carson newman scored two goals to rally back and could have easily tied but we then netted two more goals almost back to back. CN scored again in like the 52 min of the second half and then the game was called. CN has some good players throughout the field and i would say that they played us better then NKU did. CN was diffenitly a better team all around then what i say out of NKU. CN good luck next year and if that team returns then they could make a run reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeal deep into NCAA DII tourny.
  19. Game will be played at carson newman. i know some good games are being played in knoxville, but here's a chance to see two good college teams play. University of the cumberlands at carson newman 7pm.
  20. um.............. i'm for neither team, only good soccer my friend...
  21. watched it over and over and over and over only the first five secs. watch when it begin f#6 has his arm back and when it goes forward it goes straight to w#10 and stays there. #6 never played the ball and was watching the other player the whole time. never even intended to play the ball and only played the player (he never even touched the ball). but watch the first three secs over and over and you can see how his hand goes straight to w#10 and stays there. hence why w#10 is upset. #6 didn't even come in the path that the ball was traveling. he attempted to derail w#10 of his path and therefor obstruction was called. how can you not see that he played the player first and then when w#10 goes to grab is when he goes to play the ball. no brainer for me......
  22. goldngol8!!!! long time no see..... we (u of the cumberlands) are playing carson-newman next tuesday. i would love to see you. i will try to call before then.
  23. yes tyler is a very talented keeper. i watched him since he was in like 6 or 7 grade and then i thought he was better then an average high school keeper. what year is he now?
  24. anyone know the karns oak ridge score? and can i get the lowdown on the gibbs carter game when ever you get a chance gchunn or any other person that attended the game?
  25. ok i just saw on queens page that he was on the roster..... is he done this year or is he got one more?
