  1. Apparently making a call at 7:30 as to whether or not game will be played tonight or not. But game will not start at 7:00.
  2. Again, the whole ifs and buts and merry Christmas argument from you is fine if that makes you feel good, but I think it was you in another post that said you knew turnovers and penalties were a part of the game. We can say the same thing. If we play clean it’s a different game too, but we didn’t and a lot of that had to do with greenback’s abilities. Bottom line is the Cherokees we’re better in several phases and they get the chance next Thursday to bring gold back to the east. Good luck!
  3. Come on dude, with as much time as you’ve had to think of material to come up with waiting on your dawgs to be good at ANYTHING, that’s the best you’ve got?
  4. You sound a lot like Lavar Ball, just ruffling feathers to get some attention. That’s cute too. So, tell us, how long have you had to sit by your computer waiting on Cornersville to be relevant in anything so that you could make all these posts you come up with?
  5. Only reason you’re on this thread is because you’re like a large majority of the state in that you love when SP loses. We love having haters because it means people talk about us and they talk about us because there’s always something to talk about, usually winning. Believe us, we’ll be back, not so sure about you guys. And remember, until this year, nobody was talking about cornersville, ever, and most still don’t even know where it is.
  6. That’s what y’all said last year too and took a 50 point L. I know that was last year, but come on and make us all laugh some more.
  7. Not trying to cheapen the win, just arguing against the fact your guy said y’all should’ve put up 50 on us. Probably not enough gadget plays in yalls playbook to get that number tonight
  8. You must have been watching a college game on ESPN, one of those Friday’ night specials. Cause if you guys actually had a playbook that wasn’t drawn up in the backyard, you might have an argument. Your first td was a gift after two Hail Mary passes were caught. Then you draw up a double pass to get another score. That’s 14 of your supposed 50, so im not sure you’re argument has much merit. BUt if it makes you feel better, go ahead and keep thinking that.
  9. I’m confused, if a kid is talented in 1A, will he somehow lose that talent by transferring to a 6A school? The difference comes in the quantity of talent, not that just because you play at a 6A school, you’re more talented. What I see year in and year out from Tyner, is a team full of athletes, which doesn’t always necessarily correlate into football players. What Coach Turner does, and it make take all season, half a season, or two games, is mold those athletes into football players who finally buy in to what he wants them to do, as evident by the run they have been on since starting this year 0-2. Good luck Rams!
  10. Game time showing 7pm. That would be local time, so that means for us slow folks, uh, I mean slow time folks, kickoff will be at 6pm. Am I correct? Can one of the gurus confirm this? I do t want to lead anyone astray.
  11. #70s counterpart on the other side, defensive end #58, played outstanding as well! Believe he’s the one that blocked the punt that was recovered for the TD. Nice set of bookend defensive ends for the Pirates!
  12. And if they do, it’ll be while the tigers are pounding a basketball
  13. To borrow a line from Alabama fans after the victory over Miss. St. last week............. NOT TONIGHT HATERS!!!!
  14. Sometimes I wonder whether bass is really a pirate fan or not because of some of the posts he makes questioning the abilities of this team. I’m not saying they’re gonna mercy rule whitwell either but I’m not gonna post where some players may read how he questions athletic ability, team speed, or whether they are capable of scoring a certain amount of points against an opponent. I hear people when they say “this isn’t the same old whitwell”, I get that. But I for one, and I may be the only one, like to believe that this IS the same ole South Pittsburg! By that I mean the South Pittsburg that is used to playing in these types of games, that relishes in the “playoff” environment, that knows what it’s like to play well into November, and I believe that has to mean a lot going into this rematch. Round one was epic, and round two should be the same, but my money is on the Pirates, and if whitwell proves me wrong, my hat is off to them. Just know that if whitwell does pull out a victory this Friday, it will make their season, but for the pirates, it will just go down as a loss that kept them from a goal they set year after year, and that’s playing for a state championship.
  15. Just another thing to think about from Friday nights performance for both teams, and this may have already been mentioned a while back but I haven’t seen it is this: we can take into consideration that both teams were out of their normal routines because of fall break and I know in years past, at least for SP, that doesn’t bode well for precision in practice throughout the week. Obviously the opponent for that fall break makes a huge difference and we’ve played Lookout Valley several times, so sometimes you see a lackluster performance from fall break. That wasn’t the case this Friday, and any difference would’ve been felt by both teams, but my thought/observation is I wonder that if/when the rematch happens, how being back in normal routine will affect the preparation for another great game.
  16. Sorry, couldn’t really focus on much of what was being said due to the background music: “Another one bites the dust” oh, the irony in that video.
  17. Ifs and buts, candy and nuts, Is that how the saying goes? The game lived up to exactly what everybody was hoping for and the county was witness to the slugfest. Both teams are able to say “a play here or there and the outcome is different”, but if popular vote ran this country, then Hillary would be our President. (not good). Bottom line is South Pitt made just enough plays to win the game and Whitwell didn’t make enough, and if (here we go again with those “ifs”) both teams can advance past the first two rounds of the playoffs, the rematch has the makings of something as special as last night. And all that means is another great opportunity for the boys on both teams to experience an atmosphere unlike any other and to create memories that will last their lifetimes. Well done both teams!
  18. First of all, let me say I have been a reader of coacht for a very long time but never much of a poster, but I did want to add my two cents worth to all the banter that’s been on here this week. It’s great that this game really means something on both sides this week and that the county will be witness to what should be a good ole fashioned slugfest. Whitwell has a lot to be proud of for their season thus far and have every right to be confident about their chances. South Pittsburg, on the other hand, well, they’re just South Pittsburg, should be enough said. They’ve been here before and know what’s at stake and what it will take to get the job done. The great thing is, if we can all remember this, the game is about the players on both sides and their ability to handle what should be an outstanding environment for HS football, and the hope that they can soak it all in and enjoy what will be a night to remember for both teams. At the end of the night, they can shake hands and give the glory where it belongs, to our awesome God who has blessed them with talents to play this wonderful game.
  19. Pirates have practiced at Loyd Park, but not very recently. They "caught a break" in the weather earlier in the season where they were able to practice outdoors. They have also used the National Guard Armory once or twice this season. It has been a long year for the Pirates, but they managed to finish second to CSAS in the regular season and gain a first round bye in the tournament. That automatically puts them into the Region. Congrats on difficult, yet, quite successful season.
  20. Who's the player of the year? All-District 6-A from each team? Coach of the year?
