  1. He did mix and match in the third and first of the fourth. The last minutes were not the starters. As far as making you throw up, that is pretty harsh. Most coaches do praise their players on their talent and how happy they are with their play, as they should. Disipline- Most football teams have their problems. Young kids playing hard, tempers will flare, it is football. Come on I saw jawing from ER, even one of the MC players got slapped up side the head, and oh yeah he kept his cool. To say that discipline is a problem, I am not sure. All teams deal with a hot head from time to time.
  2. As much as I love the people from Tellico, this is going to be a tough one for them. Central is good, but Tellico will give it their best. Good Luck to both teams.
  3. How do you see this regions top four? Can the top teams compete with the other regions?
  4. I feel that the top teams are stronger in this Region than in previous years. Howard, McMinn Central, and Polk, are stronger than last year. The bottom teams are truley down, but Meigs is a good team. Grundy Co. and ND are not that bad either. My predictions: 1. Howard - Fast and athletic with playmakers. Good special teams. 2. MC - Very talented, but young. Big playmakers and strong defense. Depends on turnovers on how this plays out, to many right now. Talent makes up for mistakes. 3. Polk Co. - Physical and well coached. Disipline is the key here. 4. Meigs Co. - Heart, Heart, and more Heart. These guys play so hard.
  5. "MC was not that good." POLKPR1D3, I like your enthusiasm, but I am afraid that you might be off with your quote just a bit. MC had 3 passes that they usually haul in dropped that were easy touchdowns. They had 5 turnovers, and played many people. To say they are not that good is scary. I will admit a game of turnovers like this against a Polk or a Howard will not get it done. If they play a turnover free game agianst Polk, that will spell trouble for Polk. I can't wait for that game it will be a fun one to watch. Good Luck against Howard.
  6. Off weeks do tend to bring out mistakes in teams. Not because the lack of working through the week, but the rythmn an timing becomes an issue. ND was well coached, which helped them stay closer than it should of been. Oh yeah, the 25 turnovers did not help either. The chargers will regroup and play well against a team with a couple of good athletes, and they are pretty good, but the offensive playmakers will prevail in this one. At home I like the confident Chargers by two touchdowns.
  7. What about Meigs? I just do not see Grundy in the top 4. I do however fell that either Polk, Howard, or MC, could finish in any order. That is the toss up.
  8. It will be interesting on who does take this Region. Polk Co. has the power game, hard nosed football till the end. Do they have the speed to stay with Central and Howard. MC has speed and good skill players along with a swarming defense. Do they have more speed than Howard? Howard has quickness of course speed and a defense that gets to the ball. Can they stop the power game of Polk Co.? Should all be interesting games!!! Can't wait to watch.
  9. Central plays smart, they win by two or more touchdowns.
  10. I hope this region does come down between Polk and Central. Two good programs with two good coaches. I want to see that last game mean something. Last year was a wonderful game to watch from a the prospective of a high school football fan. I have nothing but respect for Polk, the kids play hard, and the community is behind their team. Whats not to like about that? I am sure glad that Central is being talked about as a potential noise maker in the region. Good Luck to Polk Co. tonight, because I want to see that final game between two undefeated teams.
  11. Same QB, diff. RB. with a new offense. They ran the wing-T last year, mixed with some other formations. This year they are in a spread offense.
  12. Devon Johnson is a playmaker that is the nucleus of this team. If he has a bad game so do the Cherokees. They are well coached on defense and play hard. The line is their weakest link.
  13. I was just kidding, trying to find where the tribe nation was. MC has a good staff, and will turn this program in the right direction. I like the enthusiasm!
  14. Polk will win by two or more touchdowns.
  15. I agree with smokey. Your boys showed heart Friday against MC, just out matched. I thought it was hard to find the ball carrier Friday, it was just MC had enough team speed to account for their mistakes. The speed of MC was the only difference in the game. ND is down and it is time to show everyone that our kids from this area can play football. Keep working and it will happen for the chiefs. Good Luck against ND.
  16. The coaches for McMinn will find a way to lose this game.
  17. As much as I like Tellico I do not think they have a chance.
  18. The game on Friday was exactly the way it should have been. Kids putting all they had into all they had worked for. Both teams deserve all the credit in the world. Meigs never quit, the difference this year was MC did not either. This was one of the best games that I have ever been to. Both teams will be at the top of this region. Good Luck to both programs.
  19. How do you know that this is the case? Do you play? Are you a parent of a player? Or do you just not care for Coach Derrick? I played sports for many years of my life and I cannot remember one time that my confidence was down because of a coach. I do remember though my mother letting me have it for saying something about my coach, when I did not think I was being treated fairly. She told me to shut up and get better or quit. Not once did she place blame on a coach, she put the blame where it belonged, me the player. The reason I write this is to say that people always bad mouth a coach when it is personal, ie. their son or daughter did not get to play. If Coach Derrick thought J Jackson was so great, then why did he not start him at QB. Why does he cont. to go with a two QB system when it is obvious that J Jackson is the better of two. Leadership comes from players, not coaches. Coaches give tools, players build the product.
  20. Oh yeah, they need to win. The monkey needs to come off the back. A Meigs win will hopefully change the momentum of what has been a miserable run since the departure of one of the greatest football minds ever, Mike Newton.
  21. Yes, the game will be on this station. They do a good job.
  22. If Central wins or not Friday who knows, but one thing is for sure - we will find out how hard the MC kids will play for Coach Derrick. Coach Derrick needs this win to turn the corner for this program. A loss here sets them back - big time. One thing I have always amired about Meigs County is their sense of pride. They play hard, even though they may not be the more talented team. I do think however, MC does have the better team this year. What they have to find is heart. Taylor Watson and Shane Moses are both good ball players. MC needs to take a page out of Meigs book and play as a team with one heartbeat, instead of a group of talented players. Play with heart and as a team MC wins by two touchdowns, if not Meigs will find a way.
