  1. ECS beat CBHS 6-2 last nite. CBHS turned around and beat Briarcrest 8-7, so ECS and CBHS play today for the final. Brothers have to beat them twice to win it. Briarcrest has the #3 seed from West.
  2. Houston beat Collierville 6-3. Wonder if C'ville has Pomeranz on the mound Friday vs. Bartlett? If so, should be a heck of game.
  3. You guys no doubt have good pitching and sticks, but what impressed me the most when we played y'all (ECS), was your defense. Your defense is the best I've seen all season. For some reason we left our pitcher in the entire game (he's our #5) and y'all owned him. He did settle down after the first 2 innings, but the damage was done by then. Good to hear your defense is back on track. Bring back a state title for west TN!
  4. That's usually the case. This year the brothers can't overlook ECS. They beat ECS twice this year, but won the first one at home in the bottom of the 7th, and beat 'em at their place after 13 innings. Other than them, they shouldn't have much trouble with anyone else locally.
  5. By weak, are you saying that no other D-2 team in West TN is any good?
  6. Same Houston. That was early in the season. Houston starts several sophomores. They've gotten better since. They're a tough opponent right now, especially if Worth Tate is pitching.
  7. If you ever play at Millington's (just north of Memphis), home field the setting sun will also be in your (batter's and umps') eyes.
  8. Heck of game yesterday at ECS. CBHS won 5-2 after 13 full innings. They were able to score 3 in the top of the 13th and hold off ECS in the bottom for the win. ECS had several chances in the late innings to win it but were unable to mfr any runs. ECS's starter threw 8 great innings. CBHS's second pitcher came in after 3 and 2/3's and pitched 7 1/3's innings. Great game, tough close loss for 2nd day in a row for the Eagles.
  9. It was a great game. The couple of balks and the pick off at 1st late in the game were huge for the brothers.

    HBP and BB

    Good points, I agree.

    HBP and BB

I agree with everything you said except the fact that walks skew OBP because of the other team's inability to throw strikes. As Justafan noted, many times the batter does a good job of fouling several pitches off, eventually drawing a walk. Quite a few strikes can be thrown in any given walk situation.
  12. Can anyone tell me how Houston (Memphis), looked in the tourney? They started kinda slow this season but seem to be pickin it up now.
  13. Not taking anything away from Farragut, I know they have a fine program, but Pomeranz isn't 100% yet. If I'm not mistaken that's only his second outing this year, his first was last week.
  14. He's a good one. I'm associated with ECS out of memphis. We faced him last week in Chattanooga, he did one heck of a job on us.
  15. Thanks. I was wondering if they were gonna throw the big RH'er against Houston today. What's his name, Hill?
  16. Does anyone know who pitched for Mt Juliet?
