  1. Farragut/Maryville game was actually a very good game. The score is not at all indicative of how the game was played. It was a 0-0 up until about 12-13 minutes to go in the game. Farragut got a through ball past the defense and buried it. At that point Maryville started pushing everyone up for more pressure because a tie would have done Maryville no good in the district standings. So, after a few near misses, Farragut got 2 with about a minute to go and then a 3rd sometime in injury time. Maryville had their chances early and they kept getting chances late by spreading the ball and with quick 1-2 touch passes. But in the end, Maryville can not finish. If they do figure out how to score, they could compete in this district, but until then it will be hard.
  2. You can't just say this and not explain. What happened in this game that makes you think there needs to be refs on the goal line at all times?
  3. Friday night - Maryville - 5 Science Hill - 1 Saturday - Maryville - 6 TN High - 0
  4. CREE, When is this tournament?
  5. Bearden - 4 Maryville - 1
  6. I have always thought that Kat is one of the most dangerous outside mids in the area. I was baffled when I saw him playing outside back. Does anyone have any input on why this move was made? I am guessing it is to keep teams guessing and use him as a surprise on the attack. If this isn't the reason, I am clueless.
  7. Doesn't look like this game will be made up. This is not a district game. So it is not imperative that they play. But it could be rescheduled for late April.
  8. Please understand that I meant no disrespect to Tarr or Coach G as person. It is true, we do not know the whole story behind this decision. That's why this is a forum. We take topics that pertain to us and we discuss them. This situation has, no doubt, touched all of us in a certain way. We can all relate and we can all add our personal experiences and thoughts. How interesting would it be if we all agreed, all the time? I am happy to hear that Tarr supported his teammates during his transition period. And I am also happy to hear that everyone on CAK's team welcomes Tarr back with open arms. It is hard to find a team where every player on the team thinks of the team first. I have found that some kids these days are more worried about their playing time, rather than the improvement of the team. That is nice to hear. Thinking of the team first is not something we see often in high school all the way up to the professional sports. I have the utmost respect for BigG. Sorry if my words were a little blunt, I'm sorry. I have an unbiased opinion, so I thought it was important to look at all aspects. Good luck to CAK. This season should get a little more exciting now.
  9. Is this some kind of joke? Did it really take a lot of guts to let him back on the team? This kid is a solid player, what kind of guts does it really take to let a good player back on a struggling team? From a coaches standpoint, I think it takes more guts to look at the growth of the team and see that in the long run the team is better off without an indecisive senior. As far as this being a "team decision", I highly doubt it. Let's ask the kid that will be sitting out now that he has decided to come back. It has been 2 months of missing practice, conditioning, bus rides, learning how to persevere in times when you didn't really want to but you know that your teammmates are counting on you. Where were you during these times? I admire Coach G for his ethical decisions and reasonings, but the reasonings behind this one doesn't make sense. In order for young men to grow they must live with the decisions they have made, wrong or right. He bailed on his team during the toughest part of the season. As a teammate of his, I would think it would take more games than the season has left to gain his trust. As for Tarr, of course you're going to stand by your coach's decision. We don't know the whole story, but he let you back on the team under circumstances that many coaches would not. You figured out 2 months in to the season that you missed the game of soccer. I'm afraid there won't be many opportunities for a 2nd chance once you get out of high school. So, good luck. I hope, somehow, you can grow and learn from this experience.
  10. Jumping the gun a little bit, huh? I highly doubt these teams are already looking a week ahead to this game. West has a very important district game with Powell before Bearden, as well as a game with Maryville. And Bearden has a very important district game with Maryville at Maryville before West. So I'm guessing the West people and the Bearden people wish to hold off on this topic until about Wednesday. The season is already half over, let's not wish it away. One game at a time, my friend.
  11. I had a feeling he wasn't done.
  12. I predict that the field will be wet. West has a very good all around team. Maryville has the ability to give some good teams a problem, but they have a hard time finishing. Should be a good game.
  13. Maryville won 2-0. It really probably could have been 7-0. Maryville hit the post, missed a breakaway, etc., etc. Final shots...27-2. Field was really sloppy, and the finishing was appalling. South Doyle is a really young team, and they will get it back together. They fought hard and never quit.
  14. CBHS was up 2-0 at halftime. CBHS scored both goals very early. The first one was a lack of communication in the CAK defense and the next was a corner kick. CAK plays with a lot of heart and some of the best class I've ever seen. On the corner kick that CBHS scored on, the referee gave CAK a goal kick. Everyone at Bearden knew it was CBHS corner kick except for the AR and center ref. So CAK took the goal kick and kicked it over the end line to give CBHS the corner kick they deserved. CBHS ended up scoring on the corner kick, giving them a 2-0 lead. I've never seen that before, and I can't say that I would have done the same thing, but like Coach Lima said, "that was beautiful" and showed "great character." Not sure on the final yet. But both teams were playing very hard on a very sloppy, wet field. Congratulations to the winner. Also, congrats to BigG on demonstrating some amazing class and character. I'm pretty sure you would have a hard time finding another coach and team that would display this sportsmanship in this type of game.
  15. Christian Brothers 2 - 3 Bearden Probably one of the most exciting games I've seen in a while!
  16. Is Gallatin down this year or is Bearden that good?
  17. I would have to agree with you guys. My question is this... why can't every state play soccer the same time of year. Every other high school sport plays the same time of year so it is very easy to come up with a national champion. Does anyone know the reason why the high school soccer season is split up depending on the state?
  18. I think they look good. But as the season goes along, I believe you will be seeing Morristown West moving closer to the top. Their record might not show it right now, but Mo. West is a better team than #30.
  19. We've had 5 games as well. The first 3 games were held in a beginning of the season tournament from Thursday, Friday, Saturday. As well as playing 2 games over Spring Break. We can not afford to take too many days off. Spring Break comes at a bad time for spring sports.
  20. He's fine. He has had an ankle problem for quite some time, stemming from last year, but he's fine with an ankle brace. It may require surgery at the end of the season, but for now he's fine.
  21. Shot count was Maryville 14 - 7 Pigeon Forge. Pigeon Forge has a solid team. Probably one of the best teams they have had recent history. They have some tricky players up the middle and if you let them hang around they can be dangerous.
  22. I am sorry you are confused. By tough game, I meant that Sevier County was a tough and rough team. There were several yellow cards and I believe a red card given. And by "their game" I simply meant they played to their skill level. I typically don't feel that it is necessary to write a novel for an explanation.
  23. CCSMAN, Congratulations on your 6-0 win in 30 minutes. But, let me remind you that you were playing Lenoir City's JV team. Farragut did have a tough game the night before, so they very well could have been off their game a bit. But Lenoir City is a dangerous team, I doubt they really "stepped it up." It is more like they played their game. Nobody in this district should take any team lightly.
