  1. Any details on the game? Who was missing for MCcallie? Was it as close as the score would indicate? When was the last time MC goalie gave up 3 goals in a half?
  2. Zander Davis is the other forward - #2. Should be a very good game. Wonder if Knox will bunker in or if they will come to play. I think Baylor will have their most inspired game of the year, thus far. (This based on losing two tough games to Webb last year 1-0.) Look for Baylor to pour it on if they can. I say Baylor 3-0. Could be a wet game if the forecast is true for Friday evening.
  3. RiverdaleDad, Any word on a make-up date for the Baylor-Riverdale game? Is this being worked on?
  4. Baylor 2 NDame 0 - Baylor dominated this game, as ND played with 9 defenders for most of the game. Possession was 90-10 in favor of Baylor. Game could have seen a few more goals from Baylor, as they missed some "sitters". Once again the midfield controlled the game for the Red Raiders. Goals - Este Villerreal, Kelly Smith Shutout - Danny VanValkinburgh and the defense. Keep scoring goals, Baylor!
  5. I know she is signed on to be the new coach at Signal Mtn High School this fall. She is a nice person who, unfortunately, lost control of her boys team last year. I am sure this issue became a bigger problem this year, once the players knew she was leaving.

    Brandon Tarr

Will he be the same player he was before he quit?

Brandon only plays when he wants to play. No loyalty. Ask his ODP teamates who he stiffed in the National Championships.

Where's Brandon's comments on this? He is going to post, or decide not to?
  9. Riverdale - you guys need a clue. You cancel a game after the Baylor team drives 1 1/2 hours to play at your school. All of the Baylor parents make the drive up, as well, only to be told the game has been rained out. If you were afraid of ruining your football field, then why wasn't the game canceled earlier in the week? What a waste.
  10. Baylor vs. West - Great game. There easily could have been more than one goal in the game. Danny VanValkinburgh showed once again why he is the best keeper that Baylor has every had. He made 3-4 game-saving saves. As mentioned in another post, this was a very physical game. I was not sure if Baylor could play that style. I thought Zander Davis (#2)outplayed Cody Mccoy all night. Baylor's midfield of Davis and Kelly Smith (#10) were the difference. What a weapon Knox West has with the long throw-in. They had 6-7 of these and each one was a scoring opportunity. Much more effective than any free kick or corner. I really liked West's offense attack, lot's of good intra-play by the forwards and mids. West will score many goals this year. PS - It was also humorous to see the younger McCoy giving his older brother grief for missing a PK.
  11. Illini - great point about the clock being stopped and no additional time being saved by retreiving the ball out of the net. However, a very cheeky move would be to do it anyway and see if it prompts a physical response by the team that allowed the goal. If I could get one of their players red carded from such a ploy.............. Another reason why FIFA has it right and TSSAA is all wrong in their "involvment" with soccer rules. Time should be kept by the center ref and not a score board.
  12. If my team is losing 2 - 0 and we score..... I grab the ball out of the net so as to return it to the kickoff mark so that my opponet will kick off in a timely manner. As I am grabing the ball out of their net, one of their defenders pushes me to the ground. Would there be cards involved? Could a red occur for my actions of grabing the ball out of the net? Is this taunting? What if I do this when my team is ahead? Is that taunting? Let's see how some of the refs on here would handle this matter.
  13. Setting an example for young men and children is every bit of the role of the coach. I saw the following happen at Camp Jordan Indoor this past season. My youngest was on a RECREATIONAL team that was beating another team 10-0 after the 1st 10 minutes of a 40 minute game. Watching from the stands, I saw the losing coach pull off his team and inform the ref that he and his team were quitting. I was shocked to see this. Why would he set this example for his U8 players that it was OK to quit? This coach did not discuss his actions with the coach of my son's team - perhaps asking for some mercy might have been a good first step. Instead, he just pulled his team off the field. Not sure how this coach would have addressed his team's parents, as I am sure some of them would have reactly negatively to his actions. I decided to leave the stands and approach this coach, as well as the coach of my son's team and ask if they could just divide up the boys and play the rest of the time as a fun scrimmage. Both coaches agreed. A much better time was had by all the boys involved and some good soccer was demonstrated. Winning is important. Quitting is not an acceptable action. But winning by a score of 19-0 should be recognized as unnecessary. The resulting impact of beating a team by this margin could be that some of the players on the losing side do "quit" and never return to the game of soccer. That would be regreatable and avoidable by a little better game management by the coaches involved.
  14. 19-0 is over the line (no pun intended). I know ND's coach and he is a good guy. However, he let this game get way out of control. He should have approached the other team's coach at half time and asked if he and his team had seen enough. Kind of a peace treaty. No more ND goals. Play everyone on the bench. Ask the center ref to shorten the game to 30 minutes.
  15. TSSAA - Give us all a big break and leave soccer alone. You guys are screwing it up. You indiots have put the referees in such a defenseless position. If they hand out a red card, they are impacting more than just the one game they are refereeing. If they had out yellow cards for infractions that deserve red, then they are putting the players at risk. Leave the game to the ref's to manage.
  16. Danny Van Valkinburgh - Baylor In 2 1/2 years he has only allowed about 12 goals, playing in about 30 games.
  17. Estaban Villareal - Baylor - Forward
  18. Baylor 6 Ridgeland (GA) 0 Game called at halftime due to lopsideness of matchup Goals: Estaban Villereal, Bret Murray (2) Carter Paden, Zander Davis, Ben ? Shut out: Danny Van Valkinburgh, Trey Trundle, 3rd string keeper, as well Keep the goals coming Baylor!
  19. Carter Paden - Baylor
  20. Baylor 5 Ringgold 0 Gaols: Taylor Tanner, Kelly Smith, Estaban Villareal, Carter Paden (2) Shoutout: Danny Van Valkinburgh and the defense Keep scoring Baylor!
  21. Soft is playing Christian Hertiage School in Dalton like McCallie did last year. Bradford had like 6 goals. He ended up the leading scorer in Chattanooga, aided by this "opponent".
  22. I heard Baylor tried to get some other teams on their schedule, but no one would play them
  23. I will take Baylor's midfielders over those of West. Zander Davis, Kelly Smith, Carter Paden, and Tanner Taylor will beat you will skill or bite. Should be a great game in a few weeks when these two teams meet.
  24. Baylor 2 Ooltewah 0 Goals: Kelly Smith Sam Williams Shutout: Danny Van Valkinburgh and the defense
