  1. Just saw the final score Baylor 34 McCallie 28
  2. Classy Old Warhorse. Thanks and good luck against Polk County.
  3. Soddy is 0-2 but both loses to very good teams. Bradley is 1-1 and lost to a very good team. The common team is Baylor. Soddy lost to them 48-0 and Bradley lost to them 45-28. But Bradley's game was at home so that counts for something. This game is also at Bradley....so homefield advantage again. Even without that though I would say Bradley will win by 10. Good luck though Soddy Daisy.
  4. Bluemom, sorry but sometimes your passion tends to go overboard alittle bit and runs on the obnoxious side alittle bit. I have never seen a Baylor fan do it on this site....unless it is provoked by your biased remarks. I remember it got you alot of heat last year with your ramblings about what your "blue gentlemen" would do to Baylor. And if I remember correctly the "Baylor gentlemen" really took it to your team. As always in a rivarly game you can never tell what will happen as emotions play a huge part. But I look for the more talented Baylor team to prevail for a 2nd year in a row. I know you mean well....but your little digs at the "visiting team" as you put it come across as arrogant. So in keeping with your tradition...my predictions is: Baylor 30 Dodds Ave School 20
  5. Congratulations to my friends at The Baylor School. Very impressive win.
  6. Watched the game on TV last night...awesome win for Baylor. Completely dominated the game. The announcers on TV kept saying what an atmosphere and even though Finley sits more it just can't compare to the campus feel. Baylor has a young team so this bodes well for you guys for sure in the future. I was at a soccer game on your campus recently....the football stadium looked amazing. The campus is just beautiful. Well, again congrats to you and good luck in the playoffs.
  7. Baylor continues to show why they are the elite soccer program in Chattanooga....we just can't beat them. Good try ND girls....kept it respectable for sure. Let's get ready for the playoffs. Good luck to Baylor in your playoff run. They are very impressive.
  8. I owe you an apology. I have read several jabs that you had taken in past posts and just assumed (you know what they say about assuming) you had done it again. I do apologize for that and hope that the granddad is doing well. They do love to watch their grandsons play ball.
  9. Not to worry Bluemom. Baylor is classy and does things first class as well. I am sure that wheelchair bound attendees will be taken care of....I know you are pro McCallie but do you always like to get that zinger in?
  10. Congratulation to the ND girls on a great win. Expect these two teams to meet again soon in the playoffs.
  11. Greatest rivalry indeed! I can't imagine any interest beyond Dunlap in these two mules fighting over a turnip. If it were being played in my backyard, I'd close the curtains. Just kidding...I'd actually enjoy seeing this one, and I think Baylor's campus is beautiful (although I last saw it in '79). I'm afraid, though, if I had to pick, I'd have to go with McCallie. I've only seen each team once (against MBA), but I thought McCallie had the better team. I'm skeptical of any offense that can't score on MBA this year. And in a close game (as most are predicting, and justifiably so, I would think), kicking becomes very important. Does Baylor have any real kicking game? And the comments made earlier that Baylor knows they can win and isn't at all daunted by the streak seem to me to be whistling past the cemetery. Baylor last won this one when their seniors were in first grade. In my mind, that makes it imperative that Baylor succeed at something early on. A two touchdown lead for McCallie in the first half would probably be insurmountable. Alternatively, I suspect there's a lot of pressure on McCallie. I'd hate to be part of the first team to lose to our archrival in over decade. That's the kind of thing that's remembered in a not so joking manner at class reunions for a long time. Best of luck to both teams on a good game. I can't share your wishes, though, for good weather. I'm a big fan of football in the mud. Or has Baylor gone over to the darkside as well and gotten a carpet? You bring up a good point about the kicking game. I believe that McCallie has a good field goal kicker. If I am not mistaken he was a transfer from Cleveland and is a soccer player. Baylor has had two great kickers also in the last few years that were also soccer players in Tanner Taylor and Andrew Roden. Soccer players make excellent kickers most of the time. I don't know who kicks for them now but I had heard that they have struggled with the kicking game somewhat. Not sure so maybe someone more versed on that situation can chime in. But we all know that the kicking game as well as turnovers are the difference maker many times.
  12. Even though I am not a part of this rivarly....except for living in Chattanooga. I cannot imagine a bigger high school rivarly than when Baylor and McCallie play in anything. Seeing all the flags flying from cars, the spirit t shirts worn by both schools...it really is something. I hope that Baylor ends the streak this year.
  13. Like you said kids can and do get burned out playing any sport. I know of several seniors from last years Chattanooga teams that opted not to continue playing in the college level. One from ND, a couple of more from Baylor (even though 3 are playing in college) and also heard that Kerr was transferring. These players were excellent students and athletes. But sometimes you are ready for a life of being a student and not being owned by a coach for those 4 years. As we all know....the academics is what is the most important anyway. Everyone is different but I think alot of guys are just ready to go to college and be a student without the strict regime.
  14. Your comical....aren't you a Father Ryan guy? This has been seen and talked about in Chattanooga circles....not your circles alot. Has been a cheap trick. And this is coming from an Irish guy....Notre Dame that is. Don't try and act like you know Chattanooga happenings when you aren't here. JEEZ!
  15. I understand Baylor is not the problem. That they would love to have the match. Bradley does not want to do it so you might want to change the title...."When will Bradley give us the match we deserve and agree to wrestle Baylor." Shame it isn't this year....both are loaded it seems.
  16. I agree. It is just a given that if a game is moved off campus you lose much of the student fans and that is unfortunate. But we gain playing on a top notch field with stadium seating so that is a plus. Outside of Baylor and maybe GPS...the Camp Jordan facility is the best. I am like you at least we don't have to hear anymore this year about our "pathetic field" as CCS's coach said. I just wish it was not true. Go Irish.
  17. ?? I read what your link said about an awful cross country course. But could you explain alittle more....are you saying that losing did not spark the coaches frustration but the battleground...and in this case the ND field did?
  18. I have to agree with what Coniglo said about Silverdale's schedule. I would not have said anything about Silverdale but this quote opened the conversation up. I commend them on a fantastic record...but they played a week schedule that allowed this type of record. To take it to the next level in the future Silverdale will need to play a few of the elite teams in Chattanooga to help prepare them for postseason. Again, great record sportsguy1.....Silverdale obviously wants to be competitive in soccer and I hope they will schedule a few local powers in the next year or two.
  19. I guess since i started the thread I will make my prediction now. Since this is a huge rivalry I think it will be close than expected. GPS wants this game badly but Baylor obviously does also. I don't see an upset at all....but as always it will be hard fought and intense. Baylor 3 GPS 1
  20. Well I guess I will start this thread. Old rivals GPS and Baylor go at it on the soccer field Tuesday night. Everyone knows about Baylor. Undefeated, top ranked in the state, ranked #11 in the nation by ESPN. While GPS is not having a typical GPS year.....anyone that has seen them play knows they are a tough and physical team that does not give up. GPS will be up for this game like no other this season since Baylor is "their big rivalry game". It's GPS....so Baylor will be up also. When rivals like this play....you can throw out the records, etc. So.......predictions?
  21. Thanks for sheading light on this DonCChatt. I was not there for either game unfortunatley. I think you hit the nail on the head by saying.....it was ND's fault with the lines. Where the sun is at the time is just a part of the game. It seems almost every game, except for 7:00 games, the sun is a factor for a while. I thought the issue was senior night from your and chasanooga's post...and actually I think that was the issue. I just don't think from what chattsoccer was saying that ND could have a leg to stand on with the red card. Obviously it was not meant to be "unsportsman like". But that is a rule and don't see how anything could ever be reversed. Curious, if the lines were so faint....did anyone call attention before the JV game. Also, was the field lined before the varsity game. With the ending of the JV game I feel sure it was. Sorry the goalie is going to miss senior night. That is very unforunate.....but I sure don't think that could be the ref's fault. Hopefully the line situation will never happen again.
  22. I'm sorry chattsoccer but a few questions as I was not at the game. But what was the visability problem. I can't tell for sure by what you are saying. Was it not lined off properly and was it at a time of day where the sun was glaring into the box? I can't understand for sure what you are saying. It sounds like that may be possibly what you are saying and that if that is the case is your question shouldn't the ref give a warning instead of a red? It is hard to respond without knowing exactly what the complaint is. I would like to thank MVM and bluelion however in coming up with what I thought was a great idea for senior night. From your post that will not happen....and I am glad that does not seem to be an issue with our goalie. But I appreciate them (being fans of other teams) taking the time to care enough about the ND player to try and help us with a solution. I actually thought it was a very good idea. That was the intent of the thread I am pretty sure was concern over senior night.
  23. When you have those kind of connections it makes it all the more exciting for players and fans. It also adds more stress it seems. Both teams are having great years but from the schedule I looked at.....CCS has not played as difficult a schedule as Soddy Daisy. I think this will help SD but obviously CCS has home field advantage. I imagine it will be a very close game. My prediction is: Soddy 2 CCS 1
