  1. Why is this game being played on Thursday (according the CoachT's FCS schedule)? Is it the Thursday night Comcast game?
  2. Exactly. At both Maryville and Alcoa, $500 lets you attend school there - even if you commute from Alaska. Hmmm, I wonder how in the world that are good year in and year out? /dry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=" There was an article written in the Knox News Sentinel that stated that more than 25% of the Maryville student body lived "outside" the official city school district. For the largest 4A school, that is a lot of kids.
  3. I know it is a consideration of Ezell and FCS here in middle TN. Ezell has been taking it on the chin for a while in 2A and their enrollment is falling due to their not so wonderful location in Antioch - and they are hoping to drop back down to 1A. FCS was just small enough to stay 1A last go around. With it going to 6 classes, I can't see them being anything lower than 2A - and maybe 3A if enough teams head for the D2.
  4. There is no more accurate statement anywhere on this board. Alcoa = Advantage With that being said, MTP doesn't have open enrollment and would get beat by 70 easy!
  5. "You guys"? I think you have me mistaken for someone else. I've never stated anything regarding any roster - student or not. I'm not a FCS supporter. I'm just sandwiched in between the two schools by living in Mt. Juliet and I like good football talk. I choose not to provide much fodder for MJ opponents so I like to browse the other threads. In terms of legality. It is absolutely legal for FCS to have 5th-6th grade teams with kids that don't attend school there. The TSSAA has zero "jurisdiction/influence" at that grade level. You are aware that this has been a public school practice for many, many years right? This is not a private school creation. Schools in counties that have multiple schools throughout the county have been doing this for many years. Although, I will say that with limited exposure to all things outside of Smith Co. does limit your point of view a little bit doesn't it Superfish? /cool.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="B)" border="0" alt="cool.gif" />
  6. I could see Trinity getting hung up being forced to move to 2A - due to too many other small D1 privates leaving. Too many small D1's leave and each D1 class gets smaller (as a percent of the total). Suddenly, they are playing 2A. When is the reorg date? It should be soon correct?
  7. Um, there is not rule or regulation that governs that practice. As such, it actually goes on like wildfire at virtually every single school the fields a 5th-6th grade football team. My suggestion, come up with something new AND that is actually illegal. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" /> So far on this thread, all of them. /cool.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="B)" border="0" alt="cool.gif" />
  8. The sad part of all of this is that now that the coaches are going to get to keep there supplements, there are 36 other people who will lose their jobs and all their income. In my opinion, that is a much bigger injustice. Now, that could all be remedied if the County Commissioners would step up and do what is right for the kids. To be near the top in per capita income statewide and near the bottom for dollars spent per child in education is a tremendous joke. It's a joke that will keep on giving to our kids for the rest of their lives. Everyone on CoachT that lives in Wilson County. Please get involved with local politics. Elections are coming up soon. Please be sure to ask you local officials where they stand - and vote them OUT if they aren't protecting and serving our children!
  9. Wow! I consider this game a toss up. I'm going FCS 21 - DCA 20. A missed extra point. (I have zero knowledge of how good the DCA kicker is - it's just a close matchup.) And what's with the Smith Co. fans? They start talking about private schools and the moron factor dials up to 10. I will say that I have family that lives in Smith Co. and I can attest that not all Smith County-ites are total goobs. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" /> I even met "Antwan" before. He just doesn't know it. /wub.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="wub.gif" />
  10. For the sake of TSSAA classification, they will adjust enrollment to account for "full" classes.
  11. I don't want to speculate ... well, yes I do ... I wonder who the other D1 privates that will be making the move are. I can see all the Jackson area privates (Fayette, Trinity, JCS) making the move. I can also see FRA, DCA and Ezell making the move. I guess we well find out soon. /popcorneater.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":popcorneater:" border="0" alt="popcorneater.gif" />
  12. Hmmmm ... the article that I just read in the newspaper has the total yardage as 318 FCS to 85 Clay. FCS fumbled going into the end zone and had 60 yards of holding penalties. With a score of 28-0 (and the end zone fumble), it sure doesn't sound that close to me. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" /> (Unless Clay decided to spot 28 points. /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" /> )
  13. Ha! This is the pot calling the kettle black! The "new" Lebanon High is being built off of Hartmann Drive - for a price tag that is roughly $2.5 million more for just the property than any of the other options so Mr. Davis could "make a statement". The new MJ High is off of Curd Road with nothing but a dangerous curvy road off the beaten path as a main thoroughfare. Rich I tell you, rich. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
  14. It's not the growth that puts the strain on the financial system as each new household (house) pays the property tax. The real problem is the not keeping pace with inflation. The last tax increase was in 2000 I believe. That was eight years ago. The cost of everything has risen since then - gas, construction costs, books, and on and on. For the life of me, I don't understand why property tax rates aren't tied to inflation rates. Inflation goes up or down, the tax rate mirrors it. It would allow for that money to always be there without having special interests deciding when and how it should be adjusted.
  15. In reality, the new director of schools is a large part of the problem. The new Mt. Juliet High is built off of a side country road. Wilson Central was (and is) built in the sticks. But when it came time to build at new Lebanon High, he didn't want to choose a cost effective piece of property - he literally said "we need to make a statement" with the new Lebanon High. So they purchased a piece of prime location real estate that was millions more than the other options. And now, he wants to spend a million more for a new school design when WC and MJ plans are fully available. Idiot! All the while, not only are kids going without sports potentially. Kids are going without books and workbooks. I know as I bought my child's entire class their workbooks.
  16. Don't forget about Mt. Juliet High and Watertown!
  17. MJ bears by 21. After watching the last minute loss last week, I know the boys are ready to spit nails!
  18. No kidding. Not only have our teams gone up there and won, but they've gone up there and won handily!
  19. Wow! Does MBA deliver on a big stage or what?!?! First that beat #1 (at the time) Brian Brohm and then they go into Ohio to beat Moeller when no one gave them a chance! Keep showing the rest of the world that TN football is much, much stronger than we get credit for!
  20. Rrrrrriiiiiiiiiggggggghhhhhhhhhttttttttttt! You were blatantly recruited like everyone else on CoachT. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" /> /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
  21. I totally disagree with you. /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" /> I would pit CPA up against anyone in 2A. They have a chance to beat anyone in that class day in and out - except Alcoa.
  22. Well, they play in the same region as Goodpasture - who has been the 2A runner up 3 years in a row. Only Alcoa has proven better. If you watch the rankings and performance from year to year, you will always see CPA in the top 5-10 2A schools. I'm sensing a little jealousy here. /roflolk.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflolk:" border="0" alt="roflolk.gif" />
  23. I would counter that by saying the Ezell should be "luring" them to stay. I have relatives that currently attend Ezell and that part of town is just so bad that it is hard to get kids to attend. I was looking through my relative's school directory and I bet there were less than 5% of the kids there from Antioch. As Antioch continues to turn into the slums, it will be harder and harder to retain kids. I know this years Freshman class is one of their smallest classes in decades. Perhaps the Ezell admin should explore what it would take to move the school to be better location ... ala Davidson Academy who is moving from Madison to Hendersonville.
